Let me start by saying that the positive reviews for this place MUST have been written by the owners. There was no variety, no freshness, and no servers.

Palomino's is, without a doubt, the worst buffet I have ever been to. I read all of the negative comments, but since it's close to my house and a friend wanted to try it, I agreed to go.

First, the price on a Saturday is $11.99. The buffet itself isn't worth $5.99, much less the $11 they charge.

They had four different style of chicken to choose from. Every single one of them were under a heat lamp and as dry as sawdust.

I called ahead to see if they had ribs on the buffet. They said they did. What I found when I got there was bones with a few strings of gristle attached.

The "barbacoa" was shredded pork soaking in grease.

The mashed potatoes were, literally, a soup. They looked like someone had poured water over a box of instant grits. There was no way they were real potatoes, much less edible.

There was a pile of rice about two feet tall. That is not an exaggeration. I mean that at the end of the buffet, on the counter, on top of some aluminum foil, was rice piled as high as they could pile it.

The soda was sickeningly sweet. It tasted like it hadn't been brixed (a restaurant term meaning calibrated) in years. It was like drinking straight soda syrup.

They had one guy cleaning tables, but every table I sat at was sticky.

If you're looking for a buffet, there are a couple of others within a couple of miles of this one. If you choose Palomino's, you'll regret it. If you do decide to go here anyway, ask if you can go through and look at the food first. Inspect it closely and you'll see that every word you just read is true!

Okay, this is really only a three star place with (mostly) three star food....BUT, I cut a place some slack when it's a 'buffet'. I don't expect the kind of service I would from a 'fine dining' establishment. Is the chicken-fried steak as good as a 'home cooking' place, or the Mexican food as good as a Mexican food restaurant? OF COURSE NOT....BUT, that having been said, I found LOTS of choices that were very well made, and got my money's worth several times over.

I've seen lots of reviews on Palamino's Ranch Buffet on this and other sites, and you should notice that some people LOVE the ribs, and some people HATE them...and they're BOTH right: You'll love some items and others, not so much. It's WELL worth the trip.

This site is gross. Trust me. I am not picky. I am not American, I have eaten in marketplaces in 3rd world countries. I don't really care about the setting or environment as long as food is good, but this food is gross. It looks like they make their stuff Sunday and keep reheating everysingle day of the week and put it out there. Meat looks like rubber. Even the salads taste horrible. Vegetables taste right out of the can and those cans have been stored for decades. HORRIBLE. I could care less about everything else. When I entered, the place looked decent, but food is gross.

And then they play this Spanish Christian music in the background. What kind of christian are these people that rip people off and give gross food out?

Wow, the average so far is three stars for this place?? I've eaten here twice, first time was when I was treated by a colleague and I use the term "treated" loosely here. Second time was because my wife had never heard of the place and I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I thought maybe I was too guarded around work folks the first time to really enjoy the food.
Let me say the variety would be nice (from beef ribs to greek salad to mexican fare) if the food quality wasn't so incredibly horrible. Everything tastes like your drunk college roommate was the cook using month old food that he had found in the clearance section of the market. I found this review site because I was looking for "Vegas-style buffett in Dallas". The only way Palominos qualifies for those search terms is...well...there is no way. Looking for a buffet in the area? Try Furrs' on Plano Road for American fare, Jumbo Super Buffett on Spring Valley for mix of American, Chinese and seafood, Afras on Beltline during lunch for Mediterranean, or choose any of the non-buffet sitdowns in the area. I take it back, even your drunk roommate's cooking is better than the food, service, and lack of hygiene at Palominos. Trust me, I'm no foodie snob on this one. The place is disgusting. One star only because I have to.

By far the nastiest food I have ever eaten. I went for the breakfast buffet. We had a coupon (2) for 9.99.
DISGUSTING! The food is horrible, they only speak Mexican, and the MEXICAN music was cranked up.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, EVEN IF IT WAS THE LAST PLACE ON EARTH TO BUY FOOD.

The sausages SUCK!, The scrambled eggs made me nautious, There was some mecican entrees. I ened up eating 4 enchilladas, and leaving.

HORRIBLE FOOD!

Trust me FAT BASTARD knows how to EAT. Just look at me!

Went there 2/28/2009 for dinner with the family the food was over priced the service was bad and nothing on the bar went together i could not make a decent plate to eat. Don't waste you time or money the .99 cent TV dinner from your local store would be a better choice than Palominos Ranch Buffet in Richardson.

My wife and I went for the first time to meet some friends that had gone and liked it. We were hesitant because of what I had read. It started off O.K. The food was not great, but we could eat it. After eating we started talking and just hanging out. We heard a scream and wondered what was going on. On the Conner booth
which was about 4 tables down was a RAT about 14 inches long. My wife ran out and we waited to see what was going to happen. The manager just said every one here just go to the other side of the restaurant. No sorry or nothing. I could not believe how they were handling the situation. I will never go again and plan to contact health department on them.

My family and I went to Palominos Ranch buffet over the holidays. The selection was limited. The ribs were tough and the Mexican food was not great, my wife loves Mexican food and she said it was bad. The service was excellent but it doesn't make up for the lack of selection. They didn't have enough beef or chicken, but they did have a lot of seafood.

This restaurant would be okay, but not for the high price they charge. For that kind of price I would expect the food quality to be much higher. It's very middle of the road on everything except price. The food was okay - not horrible, not great. The cleanliness was okay - not horrible, not great. The atmosphere was okay - not horrible, not great. I think you get the idea. For most of that I would give 3 out of 5 stars. But the extra high price knocked it down to 2 stars.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend of my father's. I got online, read the reviews, decided we couldn't go wrong. The price of the buffet is $10.49/person (not including a beverage) on Saturday evenings. I felt this was a little pricey, but I know you pay a little more for a buffet. I expected a salad bar with all the fixings...what I found was not that at all. I was greeted by a swarm of gnats. I was having to "shoo" them away in order to get to the limited salad trimmings. The fruit bar, smelled of something spoiled, and a worker was replenishing the watermelon with her bare hands. That's right folks...no gloves, no tongs, nothing. The pork ribs were so tough that they could not be pulled apart, much less eaten. The mashed potatoes had huge lumps that had to be chewed, and the other items we tried were very bland and flavorless. I ended up eating a salad (lettuce, onion, olives, and dressing) for $10.49. My mom had two bites of her salad and a roll. When we got to our table, we were never greeted by a waitress. I assumed it was a serve yourself type of place (which I am fine with). I just couldn't figure out who people were leaving tips on the table for. Then I realized, other tables were being "waited" on...getting drink refills, clearing used plates, etc. We were finally greeted by a waitress while I was filling out the comment card to hand to the manager. When we described our experience to the manager, he never even apologized. For the price of our meal, we could have eaten at a well known steak house, had customer service, and left feeling satisfied. I say keep your money in your pocket, and head down the street to another place!!

My husband and I meet there for our lunch on occasion. We always have a good experience there. The food is good and there is a lot of variety. The quality is definitely better than Golden Corral. I love the grill, there is always a variety of grilled meats and fresh grilled jalapenos. The price is reasonable for the quality and amount of food you have access too. I DO recommend Texas Palominos.

I have gone to two of the locations and they both are about the same. This buffet is above your typical Golden Corral. The food is a hit or miss where some items are really good and others are just so-so. They have much more entrees then the average but the salad bar could be better. If your hungry and want alot for your money than try it out.

Texas Palominos Ranch Buffet is a great value for your dinner money. It's almost overwhelming when you first walk in because there is so much to choose from. Everything is fresh and hot and full, which you will be when you leave!

Really good food for the price and the variety beats other buffet style restaurants. The always fresh offerings at the salad bar will keep you coming back for seconds but leave room for the main dishes. You wont be disappointed with the brisket or marinated steak. Side dishes are better than most, don't miss the sweet potato casserole. Dessert items are average, but don't let that stop you from trying this overall great buffet, you'll be back.

Texas Palominos offers as they claim, a "Vegas Style" buffet experience. And the buffet does not disappoint. The food is always prepared fresh and the high traffic keeps the food coming out of the kitchen.

I would recommend their steak nights and seafood night. Their grille section has some of the best steaks and grilled chicken around.
