5 Stars: Local organization event went very well. We would do it again. (by willie T.)

I had a private event for my fraternity at Kairo Kafe recently, and I was very please with the turn out. It was an event for about 75, so the space was set up with nice long communal style tables of two or three. The food was really great, and the service was punctual as well. The space is very nice, and accommodated our roaming/ schmoozing needs. The part that we liked that most was that Kairo Kafe is centrally located in downtown New Brunswick so it was easy for everyone to get to, and really the perfect place for a local organization like ours. Thanks Kairo!

5 Stars: Kairo is a must do on the New Brunswick restaurant circuit (by Jenny C.)

Kairo Kafe is a nice dinning experience in New Brunswick. It is a reasonable priced restaurant which falls in the middle class category of restaurants in the area. It is not too expensive, or too stuffy, and it is not like Efes or other fast food type Mediterranean spots. Kairo offers a unique dinning experience that is two floors, with two totality different vibes. The dimly lit upstairs lounge is clad in big couches, and is better for bigger parties, while the downstairs is more subterranean, bright, and more like a classic sit down spot. The food is always good here, accept for maybe one time, but apparently they fired that one guy. All in all it is a solid place, and a must visit if you do the New Brunswick circuit of restaurants. I would also mention that I have had a private event at Kairo and all my guests were pleased, so this review is not just for me, but for them as well.

5 Stars: A Great Lounge (by j g.)

Kairo Kafe is no kafe, and is more like an amazing upstairs lounge area with giant projector screen, great sound system, and infinite hookah list. They have also been having events that are really fun. I went to their past two events and there have been great music and people dancing. Usually i feel that people feel strange dancing in front of other that they may not know in a restaurant setting, but not at here. With great food, tons of hookah, and a super down tempo atmosphere this is a nice place to relax, and fill up or cut loose.

5 Stars: Home Sweet Kairo (by Ty D.)

Kairo is one of those places in New Brunswick where if you go once, you are going to return. I became kind of "regular" at this place, and I feel that everyone in New Brunswick should know or be familiar with Kairo. First off, the food is great. My favorite dish at Kairo is their grilled lamb
with rice and roasted vegetables such as onions and peppers. I don't get that dish every time I go, I just treat myself to it occasionally. If i don't get that then I am a lamb or chicken sandwich kind of guy. Both are delicious and simple dishes that come with fries etc. The meat dishes at kairo are always good, fresh, tender, flavorful etc. I know Kairo use Halal certified meat, which gives it a certain quality and considerably that i like and trust. Generally speaking I go there for the good food and the atmosphere. I just feel at home at kairo.

5 Stars: Quick Healthy lunch (by Gina I.)

I've been there twice. Falafel was fresh, well spiced, delicious. The owner was very nice and polite both times I was there. The interior of the restaurant is pretty nice, very minimalist. They have nice calm lighting and some great pictures of egypt on the walls. It's definitely Excellent spot for a healthy lunch! This place is excellent! There are not many good places in NB to stop in and get a quick, relatively healthy bite to eat without spending a fortune. The salads and falafel are excellent. The food is fresh and the staff is friendly. Highly recommended!

5 Stars: Its always my spot on the weekends (by Richard b.)

This place has a special place in my heart as it is the first place I took my girlfriend for our first date 1 years ago. The menu offerings are not all that extensive but what they have is very good. If you are into Hookah then the menu is in fact very extensive. I especially like the Jumbo/juicy buffalo wings which which are very good hot. The ambiance is very good since this first time I took her here and we came other times. The service is good. I wish they would change the menu little more and offer new things once in awhile but I guess they keep going with what works and that is fine. We find that it is a great place to go to before we go out at night. It's really great for a little wine, tapas, and ambiance.

5 Stars: Tons of theTastiest Hookah Flavors (by Jen y.)

So the rumor was that Kairo had the most Hookah flavors in Downtown New Brunswick. Having the most of anything is impressive, but having the most Hookah flavors really excited me. So I went to Kairo for my first time and what I found was a ton of flavors to chose from. My particular favorite was peach mint. The environment is great at Kairo. Very relaxed and airy restaurant. It felt nice to just be sitting there, relaxing. There were a bunch of people there too which made it really nice. It's kind of like a happening, and it surprised me because I never really know it existed. I give this place a 10 because the feel is so chill and they have too many hookah flavor combination for one life time. I got this list form them and decided I would show it off, and prove the myth true...

5 Stars: Killer Selection of Hookha and the Friendliest (by live f.)

I went there a month ago for my friend's birthday. I expected it just to be Arabian, but it was a lot of club/pop/hip hop/rap, it really set the tone for a good Sat night out. The best thing is they don't rush you out at all, we must have been there for over 3 hours. But if you're chill and really just want a relaxed good time, I really recommend this place. Also, their hookahs are exceptional and the music is great. The best part is the friendly staff. They were very helpful, chatting with us, promptly offering service, and most importantly bringing food on time. We were talked through all the hookah flavors and recommended his favorite, (mint Chocolate ). All in all, great service, great hookah, great fun.

5 Stars: Good vibes every time (by Mosa L.)

Pretentious? No way. Kairo is a terrific place for friends to gather and mingle. They can either hang out downstairs or upstairs, either way what you are going to get is a dim-lit, intimate environment. On the weekends it is defiantly a place to be seen, and to see others. Overpriced? No way. The food was delicious and their large meals were less than most restaurants. I highly recommend this during the weekend for groups who want to get together and share good times. Palatable food, and good company always makes me happy. The service has never once been unfriendly either. My favorite part about Kairo is that every time I go, there is always a mixed crowd which makes it very interesting, and flavorful. Never a dull moment. The hamburgers are first rate too...

5 Stars: Best New Brunswick Hang Out (by steph y.)

Kairo is way under-hyped. The ambiance is great, and everyone goes there for the social scene. The restaurant is usually a lively and fun place to hang out when I go out on Thursday- Sat nights. The service is excellent, too. It's not just the service, but it's the owners and managers... They are always very friendly, and sit at our table and just hang out. They have invited us to sit at their table too in the past, and it's little things like this that makes Kairo such a warm and sociable environment. I have made many friends by just hanging here. It does get pretty busy on weekends so my only recommendation is to make a reservation, or you might end up waiting a bit. If you are looking for a cool, local hang out, this is defiantly the place. Overall ambiances great.

5 Stars: Good Service and Accessibiliy (by Marissa M.)

I liked going to this restaurant because we sat outside on their quiet street just off of George st. The evening was beautiful, and the waiters were friendly and quick. We got good food in no time and had a party of 6. The food is as good as any Eastern themed restaurant in downtown New Brunswick. This place is also in a great area too, because it's right off the main street, but tucked away- so it is central, yet personal and mostly not loud like George can be sometimes. I give this experience 5 starts due to its good service and accessibility.

4 Stars: Good Lunch in Downtown New Brunswick (by Jim s.)

I am usually in the predicament of finding somewhere fulfilling and healthy to eat on my lunch break. Today I left Edison and came into New Brunswick to check out Kairo Kafe and I found that it's Kairo House Salad (with chicken for me of course) really hit the spot. With a hardy portion of mixed greens w/ tomatoes, onions, peppers, cucumbers, feta cheese, this meal was healthy and fulfilling. Their downstairs environment had subterranean feel that was refreshing. Afterward I talked to the waiter and he said that they have Spanish guitar player on Thursday nights as well as Belly Dancing (really!?) on Friday and Saturday nights. I will definitely be back soon...I suggest Kairo to anyone with the all-too-familiar lunch predicament.

4 Stars: Kairo, a great place to go on a date. Thanks Kairo!!!!! (by zIl l.)

I advise anyone who is going on a date to go to Kairo. If you are looking for a relaxing environment, where they don't rush you out of your seat, or couch, this is the place for you. I took a girl that I really liked on a date here, and everything went well. The upstairs of Kairo is a beautiful space with couches and good music. Maybe it was Kairo, or maybe it was a little luck, but I have been seeing this girl ever since. We often go to Kairo to start off a night out in downtown. For us, it's the perfect place to chill, talk about our day and lounge. See you there!!! Thanks Kairo!!!

5 Stars: Great Food, Great Little Place (by Wasili H.)

I found out about Kairo Kafe about a year ago, and I've been a loyal customer ever since. The servers are very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I have never had a bad experience here. Their selection of appetizers, Entrees, and Desserts is great and their food is always fresh. Their dishes are very natural and not over-done, with just the right amount of seasonings and garnishing. Granted, this place is not exactly what I would call cheap, but you do get some great food for the price

5 Stars: M. Hansen (by Mara H.)

Stopped by this place after seeing a show at the State Theater. I must say that I was very impressed by the place. The atmosphere was very cozy--warm candlelight, alabaster lanterns, small downstairs--but not cramped. I ordered a grilled lamb dish and my husband had a traditional mediterranean dish. They were generous with portions and speedy with delivery. They offer hookah--something I had no interest in trying. I was worried that we might be bothered by the smoke, as my husband and I are both non-smokers, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised by how completely non-intrusive the pipes were!! The room had--if anything--the slight aroma of sweet incense, but mostly you just smelled sumptuous food. Our meals were DELICIOUS, and were pared with a bottle of WHITE MERLOT. Didn't even know such a wine existed! It was delicious, the food was incredible, I will be back here every time we visit New Brunswick.

5 Stars: Very nice (by Ken A.)

My girlfriend and I went for lunch on Friday and were seated immediately. We loved the area and the cool, hip crowd! The food was wonderful and reasonably priced for lunch. And our server was polite and very helpful. We had the AMAZING lentil soup and a couple sandwiches with chicken, and shrimp, plus the fries are great! Would definitely go back.

5 Stars: Fantastic (by Gary R.)

I went for lunch and so impressed by the value and the food that I came back.
I went there last weekend and was pretty amazed that something like this finally opened up in the area. Great place with some great decor and amazing food. I definitely recommend the place wholeheartedly.

5 Stars: Beatutiful Friday night (by James F.)

I had dinner on Fri Night with my girlfriend, it was great and the chocolate cake was out of this world. We had missed the belly dancer so we came back with a bottle of wine on Sat to catch the show. Beautiful atmosphere and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. It comes with soup/salad and the service was so friendly. I do recommend reservations though as they get packed pretty fast.

1 Stars: great if your on a diet (by ronnie k.)

I was walking past Kairo Kafe and it is a cool and trendy looking place, so I ordered some take out. I ordered a chicken dish and was extremely disapointed. The portions were tiny, and I got a cup of soup to go and it was 3/4 full. very pricey for the amount of food you are given
