Byron was recommended to us by the company that has put on our roof. He came to our house on the evening of August 22, 2008. We asked him to replace a few of the panels on the soffit, to paint the trim, and the patio. He gave a verbal estimate for painting the overhang and patio outside of our house and immediately asked for $400 for materials, which we gave him at the time, as we understood he would be starting the next week. We asked a number of times for a written contract, which he never provided. It took him a month to get to our house to do the work and then it was a "crew" member, who worked a few hours at a time and returned days later. We never knew when they would arrive to paint. She told us Byron had her working on another project. We had to cancel having new soffit panels put up because insulation was installed in our attic before Byron replaced the panels. Before the job was completed he asked for another $500 so he could pay the woman who was helping him. On September 23 I wrote the check which he cashed within the hour. Since his helper never came to work, Byron did the last day's work alone, and he used caulk and painted the soffits, spray painted the patio, but didn't paint the door from the patio to the garage, nor the flower box in front. He was paid another $700 that evening, but we hadn't realized he didn't finish the job until the next day. We tried to call him, but couldn't get through. We also called the man that recommended him to us and he told us he'd call Byron and have him come paint, but we haven't heard from Byron since he left on the 23rd. Byron Sauter was unreliable, dishonest, and did sloppy work, leaving paint and putty all over the cement, brick, and plants. We would never recommend this man to do any work on a home.
