I choose this place because of the word "modern" in its title. I work close to one of the locations and went in for information. Very helpful receptions. My appointment was pleasant and good. Everything was very much modern from viewing photos of my teeth to the atmosphere of flat screen TVs you can watch if being at the dentist is uncomfortable. One down side is they only take clients with PPO plans.

I will never choose another dentist. All the employees actually care and listen. I have bad dental anxiety, so they are willing to talk me through any procedure.

Art of Modern Dentistry with Dr. Nikoo Daftary and her staff are extremely professional, friendly, knowledgeable, competent and sincerely caring. They use only the most state of the art techniques that reduces the anxiety and fear of the dentist for even the most dentist-shy patients. I have referred numerous friends to Dr. Daftary and they have thanked me many times.

The dentist and staff here make me so relaxed and comfortable. I went from being a person that was extremely tense and scared at the dentist to a person who doesn't mind going.

I had chipped my tooth in a freak accident. When I called to get an appointment I was in the next AM. Great. When I got there I filled out new new client paperwork and asked to go put something in the mailbox outside thinking I'd be waiting like most dentists/doctors and they were already ready to see me! I am also VERY nervous at the dentist and they did a great job, made me feel comfortable and had great bedside manor if you will.

My service with the dentist was great, very patient and explains what she is about to do and then will ask if you have any more questions to make sure you are well informed what else can I ask for the perfect dentist. I like her style of work keep up the great work!

My experience can be described as comforting. The dentist from beginning until the end, provided a personable approach to examining my past dental records. I understood what needed to be done to keep my teeth healthy . I am very confident in their opinion and advice.

The hygienist was very friendly and was always asking me if I was comfortable, when I told her I was very afraid of dental pain she took great care to ensure that I was not uncomfortable, I think that this is key to keeping dental clients.

I usually regret going to the dentist but this place is great! The staff is friendly, courteous, and very helpful when it comes to issues with scheduling and insurance. The facilities are top notch and everything is always clean and fresh.

I have to say this is the coolest dentist I have ever been to. Even though I only see everyone about 2x a year, I always feel like everyone knows me and cares about me. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful and the doctor is amazing.

I went in for my 6 month checkup this week. When the cleaning and x-rays were all done with, the hygienist told me that the doctor was going to be another 20 minutes but let me know that she didn't see anything alarming and gave me the option to skip the exam so I wouldn't have to wait around - I did. I really liked that they value my time and give me these options. At my last dentist, I was regularly made to wait both when I arrived and during the visit. Art of Modern Dentistry really lives up to its name - they are the best dentists and hygienists I have had to date! Great service, great hours, great office.

This was an experience that I really have not stopped talking about since I left. Before I got to the appointment, I was running out of gas but had decided I would just wait and fill my tank up later so I would not be late. I had such an a great time and felt so happy when I left that when my car did not start :) and I had to walk up Belmont to the gas station--I was still so focused on the experience that I was not even angry or frustrated. I called my friend and just went on and on about how I did not really feel much pain and how thorough and friendly the staff was. The DR. was HILARIOUS and the hygienist was also very funny and calming. I went out for dinner and drinks with friends later and they said I sounded like a salesman for your office.. :) I know this is weird but I never have had such a pleasant experience at a dentist visit ever. I am forever a loyal customer!

I used to hate the dentist until I came to Art of Modern Dentistry. Doctor Sirin is very nice and has a gentle touch. When I had major dental work done, over 2 hours in the chair, he would stop when I was getting nervous or panicky. And he does ALL of the work, not a dental assistant. He's very fast (cleaning and cavity filling in less than an hour), honest and make going to the dentist a not so horrible experience.

I've always disliked going to the dentist because of my sensitive gag reflex and the anxiety it caused. Being anxious definitely made it worse, but since I've been going to the Art of Modern Dentistry, I've had the best experiences with dental procedures, exams, and cleanings I've ever had. My most recent cleaning was really not bad at all, and if I can say that, for the average person it would have been quite pleasant I'd guess.

I recommend the Art of Modern Dentistry to everyone I know who asks about needing a new dentist. They are second to none in my view.

This was an experience I'll never forget. I was very nervous because this was my first visit. I had not seen a dentist in a little over a year. I knew this was bad news. I had been on 3 and 6 month schedule in most cases, the past 5 years.There was really good information given in consultation by the staff and Dentist. Everyone was very polite and comforting.

I chose the Art of Modern Dentistry because they offered Invisalign. Being a women in my mid 40's I wanted an alternative to braces. It's been about 8 months since I have started wearing them and what a difference it's made already. I can't wait for the finished result.

Found a cavity at my last appointment and believe me it has been a while since I had a cavity. I received a composite resin fillings which are the same color as my teeth so when I open my mouth it is not filled with alot of those old gray fillings. I was able to schedule my appointment less than a week after xrays and dentist was extremely gentle.

Dr. Tosiou is a very talented,state-of-the-art dentist in Chicago. The office staff is also very friendly and she cares for her patients' dental emergencies. You will find one of the nicest dental hygienists there, as well. One example of Dr. Tosiou's caring professionalism is the accurate and detailed instructions she gives after any surgical procedure.

To get an appointment to see the dentist doesn't take very long. Sometimes he can see you the same day. But if you want a cleaning then, yes, there's a wait. That's how it is with most GOOD dentists. An appointment with the dentist and hygienist for a cleaning are two different things. The staff are awesome. The dentist is hilarious and the staff is very well-trained. I am extremely high fear when it comes to the dentist, and I was put at ease.

I have always dreaded going to the dentist. It has always been a painful and uncomfortable experience. I recently visited AoMD office and to my relief it was a great experience. The Dentist, F. Nikoo Daftary DDS, has all of her diplomas and certifications framed in the waiting room and she spent quite a bit of time explaining my x-rays and looking over my teeth. I found the office through LivingSocial and the $69 exam, cleaning and x-rays deal was tough to beat! \r

I recently had my first appointment at this location.

I was pleased with the way the dentist, Dr. Sirin, was able to answer my questions about my teeth.

My hygienist was super friendly and I had a great time talking to her while she cleaned my teeth, even if it was difficult with my mouth hanging open.

The office is super flexible with scheduling, which is one of the reasons I gave four stars - perhaps a little too flexible (my appointment was rescheduled twice before I had it, but if flexibility is your thing, they've got it).

I have been looking for a dentist office with the spa-like treatment and I think I have found it! The ambiance is very comfortable and soothing. The office is immaculate. The staff is very courteous and polite.

I have not been taking care of my teeth very well over years so I was hoping to get some education. After my deep teeth they were able to give me tips on brushing, flossing, tooth care and even recommended some awesome products which I love now. I think I am really on the road to perfect.

One reason why I gave AOMD 4 stars is that I had made an appointment for my second cleaning and for some reason I think I booked the appointment a week later. I work in the hospital so my schedule is very tight. I talked to the office manger Sheri and she was able to get me in to see the hygienist in about 30 mins which I was amazed by because its so hard to get an appointment. 2 Thumbs up.

When it comes to dental or health care, first impressions have little to do with the building and waiting room (although this place is amazing), and have more to do with the ancillary staff...

From the second I walked in I was greeted with warm smiles, offered a bottle of water, and was quickly brought back (within 5 minutes of my appointment) by a friendly dental assistant to take my x-rays and get my first visit started. The first few questions focused on what I wanted to address with my smile. Dr. Tosiou was very thorough, and personally reviewed my x-rays with me. When it came time to address an old broken filling, she outlined exactly what needed to be done and answered all of my questions without judgement.

The front office staff are also great... They bumped me up for my dental cleaning so I didn't have to come back a couple hours later in the day.

All in all, I was very pleased to find the Art of Modern Dentistry and Dr. Tosiou well above my expectations, and would recommend their office to anyone looking for a professional and inviting dental office.

When first walk into this dental office the architectural structure alone makes you feel comfortable and enamored. I was pleased with its aesthetics and the welcoming politeness of its staff. I came in for a consultation expecting that I would not be able to be seen until sometime next month, but the dentist saw me that day, with little to no wait. I was then scheduled for an appointment the very next day. I was given an accurate allotment of time to have an exam and be fitted for the Invisalign system. When I came in for my follow up appointment I was once again welcome by a friendly staff. My appointment was rather seamless and I was pleased to know my teeth were still in excellent health.

There was only one minor hiccup, however, Shirl took very good care of me, and I am proud to say I have found a new dental home.

I did a lot of work last year (filling, crowing, root canal.. you name it), and today I came in for a regular check up. My overall experience was positive last year, but I had some issues with receptionists. At times, they couldn't answer my questions and messed up my bills.

When I called a few weeks ago to schedule today's appointment, I talked to Sheri. For the moment I talked to her over the phone, I knew she was the right person to talk to. She was very articulate and organized, and took care of changing my insurance information. When I came in today, it was not surprising that she also exceeded my expectation. I just loved that she took care of everything I needed (billing, next appointment, answering my questions re. future appointments). This truly made my experience today a lot better than last year. Of course, my new dentist Dr. Sirin was very good too.

After living in Europe and South American for several years, I didn't have a dentist in Chicago. In June 2009, I had tremendous pain in my back tooth, my face swelled up- i couldn't eat or sleep without pain killers. At the time I had no dental insurance, my employer only allows employees to sign up once a year- In November- I couldn't wait that long. I googled dentists in Chicago and found one on the Northside who said he would take me without insurance, and give me a good deal if I paid cash. This should have been a huge sign of his shadiness. It took him 5 hours to perform a root canal. It took my face 2 weeks to heal and i was in the hole 1300 cash! In February 2010, that tooth started hurt again- the same unbearable pain. I called up that same dentist and he gave me a BS excuse that it must be the tooth next to it- that i should come in again and we would give me another deal.Heck no! I had dental insurance now so I started looking online in my area- South Loop. I found Art of Modern Dentistry. My sister and I had walked past it a few times and thought it looked too amazing to be a regular dentist office. It looks like a spa. I called them and the super friendly receptionist said she could schedule me for the next morning with the endodonist specialist. They took be right before work, and the amazing Dr. Davenport told me the tooth needed to be retreated. He prescribed me meds for the infection and scheduled me for a week later. I took off a day of work the day of the procedure as I thought it would take 5 hours just like the last guy. It took Dr. Davenport 45 minutes. He numbed the area, cleaned it out... He works with a microscope to ensure accuracy. He is friendly, professional, explains the procedure, asks if I was comfortable- and he's really good looking- so you get a whole lot going on in one visit. Needless to say- an hour later, my face was not swollen, nothing hurt and i could eat. If this was how a root canal was suppose to be- then sign me up!
PAINLESS!! It was beautiful.
Two weeks later I had some pain in another tooth, and they took me as an emergency right away and fixed the area- turns out i had some food stuck in the gums.
I also had Dr. Tosiou do a long needed check-up on my teeth. She found another 2 root canals that needed to be treated. Again Dr. Davenport did an amazing job. The Dr. took me early in the morning, right before work, so I was right back in the office after he was done.
I cannot speak more highly of AofMD. The Drs are professional and knowledgeable, the asst.s are friendly, the receptionists, Sherri and Erica, work with your schedule to create appointments- even asking the doctors to come in early for me...
The facility is clean and modern. Flat screens entertain you with video while you are worked on.
I would live here if I could. There is a before and after in your life ( and mouth) when you come here.

Dr. Raftary seemed very genuine, trustworthy and intelligent. She advised me to see a paradontist about my loose tooth. The paradontist (Dr. Adam) did a good job operating on my teeth. He is very confident that he will be able to save my tooth which was great news.\r

All in all, aside from one scheduling mix-up, I am glad I chose AOMD and will continue to see them in the future.

I recently went to Art of Modern Dentistry to have a filling re-done and get a cleaning. Everything seemed simple enough until they required a complete dental examination (which I recently had done and provided to them). They would not accept this and refused to do a cleaning on my teeth. Once they did the exam, they then sat me down in a room and tried to create a long dental plan for me! All I wanted was a scheduled cleaning! I then had them re-do a filling I had, and the problems just got worse. I had extreme pain for the next several days in addition to headaches. I had to go back several times to have them look at it, and it's still a problem! \r

I won't use them again for anything.. it seems that they are looking to sign you up for some long term dental care plan that is most likely not necessary. Not sure what these other reviews are all about, but my experience has been absolutely horrible. I do not recommend them for any services.. there are many better dentists in the area that won't just try and rip you off. I understand it's a tough economy - but these are your patients - the ones that pay your bills.. stop being a greasy used car salesman and don't screw your clientele!

I found this place by chance one day on my way to visit a family member that lives 2 blocks away. I figured it would be nice to be able to have a dentist that was also close to my job because I work an odd shift and downtown. Everyone in the office was very friendly. They really proved themselves when my insurance refused to pay for my visit. They stayed on top of the situation until it was finally taken care of. Most places would have given up and made the patient pay out of pocket but they worked and fwon. I had my first root canal with them and was scared to death. Awesome job...no pain!

I have always had a hyperactive, extremely sensitive gag reflex, so going to the dentist has always been one of my least favorite things in the entire world. I have been known to throw up multiple times during exams and cleanings because of that, so ordinarily, I go barely once per year, and only then because I know I have to. However, I recently switched to Art of Modern Dentistry after chipping a tooth that needed emergency treatment. They were able to take me in at their location on Southport and Barry Avenues right away for the exam and did the repair in no time at all.\r

A week later, I went back for a full exam, X-rays, and cleaning, something that I was dreading since that is ALWAYS an ordeal for me to endure. To my complete surprise and delight, the technicians and hygienists were amazing, caring, and extremely skilledso much so that even though I gagged a few times, I actually found the experience fairly pleasant. Dr. Daftarys exam was thorough, and her well-informed yet conservative treatment style (read: no unnecessary drilling, filling, or pushing me to get more treatment than I actually needed) is exactly the kind of dental philosophy that fits my needs and wants.\r

The Southport office doesnt even seem like going to a dentists office, since it has none of the foreboding and off-putting ultra-clinical feel of most dentists I have been to over the years. However, everything is, like the name says, thoroughly modern, aesthetically pleasing, and very comfortable to be in as a patienteven for someone like me who has had a hate-hate relationship with dentists for my entire life.\r

I cannot recommend the Art of Modern Dentistry highly enough. Usually, I just grit my teeth, grin, and bear it (no pun intended) and plan to not come back for a whole year, but I will be seeing Dr. Daftary and her excellent staff every four months for my regular cleanings for as long as they are in practice.

Always upselling, reviews of uncessary cavities have me nervous - my first visit supposedly had four after not having any for years. My coworker had the same experiece.

After tonight's appointment, no longer trust them. Was upsold to a deep cleaning which I utimately rejected due to it not being covered 100%.

Shady like a used car dealership - not reassuring with the needles, scraping, and drilling. Going to look for a new dentist.

As I was in dire need of a dentist and unfamiliar with what was available, I began my search by Googling around to see what was available. After making several calls to dentists offices near to where I am, and becoming more disheartened with each one, I stumbled upon the Art of Modern Dentistry on south Michigan Ave.

I was greeted on the phone by a bright and cheerful Ms. Ashley, who was able to get me in the very next day. Despite my difficulties in making the appointment on time, I was told not to worry and that we might need to schedule a second appointment to get the first round of treatments finished. First impressions are lasting impressions, and she is wonderful to work with.

I was immediately whisked in to the most serene and competent-feeling treatment room that Ive ever seen. Everything about the facility speaks volumes about the level of care one can expect to receive. Designer dentistry has come of age in these offices, and it is most welcomed in contrast to what was commonplace in the not-too-distant past.

To be sure its all business, but the exquisite level and usage of cutting-edge dental technology, combined with sincere human compassion makes it all so wonderfully efficient.

I was expertly evaluated and treated by Dr. Athena Tosiou. Her treatment plan was perfectly in keeping with my goals. She listened carefully to what I wanted to accomplish and made her judgments and strategies in perfect harmony with mine. My exams and x-rays happened on the first visit, and the first round of treatment was completed on the second visit.

Dr. Tosiou and her team are amazing. Everything they did was centered upon my comprehension of their work and my comfort throughout the process. Customer service is a dying art in much of what exists today, but not so with these people and this facility. I am literally blown away not only the results of todays work, but the manner in which I was treated. Everyone from the front desk to the back office is geared up and extremely helpful.

Having not visited a dentist in over 20 years I was finally forced to go due to sever dental problems. I arrived at the South Loop location about 10 minutes prior to my appointment and, after filling out the preliminary forms, was in the dentist's chair within 15 minutes. Sensing my anxiety the staff took the time to allay my fears by explaining to me how much the dental profession has changed over the last 20 years. They listened to my concerns, and patiently explained the procedures they would perform that day. It also helped to watch the video in the waiting area that detailed various dental problems and treatments.

I'm looking forward to my next visit and will keep you posted on my experience.

I came here to get my teeth whitened and i think they did an excellent job. the doctors were very nice and gentle and the place was very clean. i recommend them.

New to the city and did not know where to go. A friend recommended the Art of Modern Denistry and I am so grateful that he did. Dr. Daftary was so great and explained everything to me. The work was painless and I am actually looking forward to going back!!!!

The Art of Modern Dentistry's new South Loop locale, 1339 S. Michigan Ave., takes oral health care to a new level of luxury. It is like a spa for your teeth. The swanky space is replete with candles and a waterfall. As you sit in the chair, mouth agape, scenes from Animal Planet play on overhead screens...I couldn't believe it.
I hadn't been to Dr. D's office for some time. I was recently laidoff and called to ask out-of-pocket cost for a cleaning, and it turns out she is offering her existing clients who have been laidoff a very generous discount on cleanings.

I was referred by a good friend that lives in the South Loop neighborhood. He and his whole family have been patients of the practice for a number of years. So, considering my extreme anxiety of dentists, I wanted to go to a place that comes highly recommended! WOW!!Never could I have imagined the first class service that I received in this absolutely breathtaking dental office. Everything from the first phone call, to the text reminder, to the amazingly kind staff, and of course the dentist, blew my mind away! I highly recommend this practice.... even if you have to drive over an hour to get there!

This dentist charged me several hundred dollars for a routine dental examination that was covered in full by my insurance. It took several phone calls to clear up the matter....or so I thought, until they randomly charged my credit card without authorization. Avoid this practice at all costs, and if you do have the misfortune of visiting this dentist, carefully check all bills and statements to your insurance.

This place sounds great, but actually on a few visits I have had some unpleasant experiences. The wait for an appointment scheduled at 8:00 am was an hour. This is before she even began. Also no parking available. Secondly, they overbill so that your insurance will say you exceeded your amount and begin to send you a bill despite it having been covered services. They are all about making big bucks,not much sincerity, and the receptionist sandra is not friendly, behaving as if she is doing you a favor.

A couple of years back I needed some general dentistry work done. So, I went to the dentist office that looked the best from the outside (how rational is that?) and was close to where I live. Even after moving to a different neighborhood earlier this year, I still continue going back to Dr. Daftary at the Art of Modern Dentistry. Why? The office is fresh, clean, friendly, comfortable, etc. More importantly, I feel she's suggesting only the dental work that truly needs to be done. Per my experiences over the past 8 years in the city, getting an honest opinion from a dentist is sometimes hard to find! Not only does the Art of Modern Dentistry offer general dentistry, but, I also felt comfortable having some cosmetic work done recently. Invisalign, Veeners, Zoom Teeth Whitening, Crest White Strips from the grocery aisle? It's daunting trying to figure out what's right for your smile, but, I trusted what I was told here and am extremely happy with the results. Highly Recommend this office!
