Great music school in the old Henderson area

by Taylor C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,811

I had been putting off learning a musical instrument for years, despite wanting to badly, being a huge fan of music myself. When I saw the banner for this place, within a mile of my home, I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

I'm glad I gave this place a chance.

First and foremost is the location. The "old Henderson" area tends to get deprived when it comes to areas to learn a musical instrument. It seems like if you lived out this way, the only way to learn was to get expensive, private, in-home lessons, or take an expensive college course. And even then you wouldn't get one-on-one instruction.

This place is affordable AND in a convenient location, so it's the best of both words in that department.

The instructor running the facility is a UNLV music school graduate, with an incredible knowledge of all kinds of music - be it rock, classical, or anything in between. I myself am taking guitar lessons, and learning rock-flavored stuff, but this guy also teaches, bass, violin, piano, banjo, and plenty of other instruments (I don't know the definite list of what all is taught.) Whatever you want to learn, there's a high chance this place is for you.

In addition to knowing numerous instruments and the genres played on them, the instructor is a patient man, always willing to try and teach students anything they desire once they get down a basic knowledge of their instrument. I came in a year ago with no knowledge of how to play a guitar, and within three-four months, the instructor had me playing plenty of the stuff I wanted to learn.

The only issues with the facility are the poor parking (cramped lot with limited spaces, most of them reserved for other facilities in the plaza), and the fact that there is only one instructor since this is a one-man operation.

Overall, I would have to strongly recommend this place. Whatever instrument you want to learn, there's a good chance you'll be able to learn it here. This is a music school done right.
