wow. i found this page because i was looking for their phone number. i have an 18 year old honda that they have been servicing for 12 years. i have never had a problem with them other than sometimes they don't call me when they say they will and i need to then follow up with them.

but to me... with all the problems that can come from mechanics. that's a really minor one. they have kept my honda in tip top shape. i just bought a new rav4 and will be taking it to them as well.

My husband got beat out of almost $200 by these shady characters and we called for an estimate for installing a distributor magnetic pickup on his truck. We were transferred to someone else who said he would have to see the truck before giving an estimate so we need to bring it in. What if the truck isn't running and is towed and we are given an out-of-this- world price after having the truck towed? I seriously doubt that the person on the phone, probably Abdul, knows what a distributor magnetic pickup is! Just another attempt to get you to their shop and to be charged for work that does not result in your vehicle being repaired. They only have a parttime mechanic and he is questionable. Luckily we already had the truck repaired with this part installed by a qualified and knowledgeable mechanic.

This is a very honest and trustworthy business. The only issue I've ever had with them is that they sometimes aren't aggressive enough in fixing a non-critical problem. Case in point: I had a belt that would cause an awful racket when you'd start it in the winter, but then went away. I could never get HV Exxon to do anything other than put "a little graphite" on it for free, which did nothing. I took it somewhere else and had a mechanic fix it for $150. He said it wasn't a critical problem, just annoying.

So I give them 4 stars because they are sometimes they won't take your money, even when you want them to, if that makes sense.

BTW- It wouldn't surprise if some of the negative comments on here aren't inspired by the fact that the owners are of Middle Eastern descent. If you have a problem with a guy named Abdul fixing your car, then don't go here. If you aren't a ignorant red neck, then go there, especially for basic maintenance.

In the past I have had good experience with this establishment. Recently, I had my truck towed there and was promised by the owner that they could get it running. Chris, the mechanic who works seemingly only half a day was to work on it. When I spoke to Chris, he told me that I needed an engine computer. I purchased that from Autozone and took it to the shop. He installed it and the truck still would not crank. Several days elapsed until I spoke with Chris again. This time he told me that he would buy a distributor that would not cost me anything to see if the distributor needed to be replaced. Several days later, I stopped by to see how work was progressing. The truck was in the bay and some of the engine parts were removed. I called Chris to check on the progress. He never said anything about the distributor. He asked me how much money I wanted to spend on the truck. He then told me that he would put the engine parts back together for $75.00. All this occurred after I had already spent $105.00 on an engine computer that I didn't need and towing expenses. The owner of the shop, Abdul said that I needed to pay for all the time Chris had spent on the truck. I am out of over $250.00 with parts and towing expenses to and from. I could have had my jack leg driveway mechanic have the truck running for a whole lot less. Extremely disappointed and will never go back!

I have always gotten the best service from Hope Valley Exxon. I've been going to them for years. I cannot relate to the person's comment below about them being dishonest. They have always been very honest and straight forward with me, but I always ask for an estimate before they begin working on my car. I think that's just a smart thing to do wherever you get your car serviced.

I took my car to another repair shop once and was told that my car needed $800 worth of work to fix an issue. Then I went to Hope Valley Exxon and the mechanic there said that the quote that I got from the other shop would fix the worst case scenario and that we should look at the least expensive repair options first. The cheaper repairs ended up fixing the issue and ended up saving me over $600. I don't know many other mechanics that would provide that level of service.

Do NOT repair your car there. They are dishonest. What they like to do is replace some parts of the car even told you, until you see the bill. I went there and wanted to have my brake oil system checked. You know what? They changed the front brakes without telling me, which would cost $200. What a horrible place it is!

I was recommended to Hope Valley Exxon on Chapel Hill Rd. when I movedhere by a friend. I've used them before for what I need and their price was reasonable, but then again, I really don't know to much about repair prices. I always have to consult my father and husband. Also to note, that they were recommended on Cartalk.com's
mechanics files where people recommend mechanics in their local area. They were recommended for their affordability and good work. They're also good about checking your car w/o charge. I've left my car with them
overnight a few times and they told me that they couldn't fix it (dealer issue) or to just check something. One thing to mention though, call them to check on your car if they have it. A few times, my car had been ready, but was sitting there.
