I really enjoyed the DFM. I'm not sure why the other reviewer said there is no shade -- the Market is under a pavilion almost exactly like the Carrboro market. There must have been 50 vendors -- so many, they spilled out to the lawn across Foster Street, and lined the street, too. They have maybe a quarter of the vendors as crafters, and I've never been to a market that had a Beef vendor, a Chocolate vendor, a Buffalo meat vendor and at least three chicken meat vendor. Fresh meat is so very different than store-bought (kinda like corn). The pavilion has bathrooms, and they had live music the day I went.

That poster made their post in December of last year. That's odd -- the DFM hasn't used the 'parking lot' for several years now. I wonder if they were at the right market. We buy most of our veggies there, all of our honey, soap, and even a few postcards of Duke Forest. We go at least every other weekend.

I was very disappointed with the farmer's market here in Durham. The selection of food stuffs was slim compared to the crafts and the location was a parking lot. with no place for shade or anything. It was a pretty hot and sunny day the last time I went and by the time I left I was a walking ball of sweat. There were a few nice stands but I will stick to the Carrboror's Farmer's Market.

I'm not a regular shopper, but the market is really nice. You just have to make sure you check their website and you'll find out what fruits and vegetables are available at what time of year. If not, you may be disappointed. You find much more than fruits and vegetables. You can find homemade crafts, and lots of other unique things too.
