I love donating my old clothes to Welcome Baby. It goes to a good cause. I love the fact that they give back to families in need. They have wonderful staff. In specific I deal with Deborah and she is wonderful.

I first learned about Welcome Baby when right after I gave birth to my son. Welcome Baby is also for expectant moms too. I just didn't know about them when I was pregnant. A volunteer visits you in your hospital room (at Duke) and gives you a welcome package about Welcome Baby. They have all sorts of parenting help classes and resources to help you out with babies and young children under the age of 5. Unfortunately most of the classes cater to working parents and are at evening hours which isn't convenient for me or I would have taken advantage. They're all free of charge and they even offer limited childcare (for a small fee) if you register. My favorite Welcome Baby resource is the Giving Closet. You can come there once every two months and pick up free clothes, baby gear, books, etc. Oh, and the carseat class is really great too. You can get a convertible carseat for a very low price depending on your income when you participate in the safety class. I'd recommend any moms or moms to be who live in Durham to take advantage.
