Did not eat here, but came here for the dancing. The dancefloor was way to small and alot of people showed up. It was a sunday night. The instructor was not as enthursiastic as other places we go. The food looked good, we may have to try that next time

We pulled in as we were driving by as it looked liked a fun place to eat and we enjoy Cuban food. At first glance the menu prices were very very high. We ordered the sampler platter for $21 plus cafe con leche & 7 up. I am very easy to please when I go out to eat and always can think of something positive about the food. I have never seen or tasted food like this ever. It had horrible bitter taste that reminded me of the bile taste in your mouth after thowing up and that is no exaggeration, it really tasted bitter and horrible. We tried every item on the plate and every item was indedible. The waitress came over and gave us the check, $36. I left her a $4 tip. I have never gone out to eat and felt confused, then anxious, then embarrassed, then disbelief, then disgust and finally anger at the end of the meal. We were very nice to the staff but when we left we felt cheated by these people. Even the waitress seemed to know how bad the food was and didn't blink an eye when she saw our food still sitting there hardly touched. I have never bothered to go through the trouble of leaving a restaurant review before but I felt an obligation to reach out to any innocent people and warn them about this place. Horrible nasty repulsive food, don't go there. My apologies if the owner reads this, but you cannot serve that kind of food to the public. The only thing good was the coffee.

Pros: No permanent damage to health as far as I know

Cons: The food is incredibly bad

This is a restaurant where the food is filling and very good. Beef dishes especially are tender and juicy. I love to have a Mojito with my food and I have found the service to be very good. Not usually super busy, but tables are filled with many customers dining. On a certain night during the week they have Salsa dancing. I haven't made it up there yet for that, but plan to one of these days. If you are hungry for comfort food that is filling, then this restaurant is a great choice. I never leave hungry and often have to take food home. There bean soup is to die for and alone with bread makes a good meal. I guess you can tell, I really like this restaurant. Thanks. :)

Pros: Close to home, good service, everyone is polite and friendly. Great Mojitos. Comfort food.

Cons: Can't think of any at this time. I've eaten there a lot and have no complaints.

ok
i saw several negative reviews on this place... then i checked it out for myself. and i enjoyed everything about my stay. Server was very friendly and welcoming.. had a lot to say , everything from the football game last week to what makes a great mojito(its the fresh mint and lime juice).

we ordered the garlic shrimp appetizer
i had the halibut in salsa for dinner
my girlfriend had the masas du puerco
all the food was moist and flavorfull..kinda like my grandma used to make

and we shared a flan for dessert
best darn flan ive ever tasted

it was a salsa night..i think they do that from thursday through sunday so the place was pretty crowded...
but we both had a great time

and just a note: i looked into the profiles of some of the people who gave this place a bad score... (NOTICE THAT THE MAJORITY OF THEM ONLY HAVE ONE REVIEW) kinda like someone created a profile here to just whine and moan or try and make their competition look bad:)

personally, despite some negative comments on reviews for this place.. i say check it out for yourself
you will not be dissappointed

and be sure to try the mojitos.... best i've ever had

This restaurant is great authentic cuban food. The interior tables are not very appealing and the food is a slow service variety but worth the wait. Be patient and it will be worth the wait.

food was inedible, prices are high for the slope of food we got. My 1st comment was microwave food taste way better. I ordered the lobster shrimp dish and i got a few tiny chunks of defrosted pieces swimming in old butter. This plate cost $26. I wish I had my camera so I could show you. Ordered the sampler and all the meat tasted like old rubber. I later found a piece of pubic hair in my food. That was it, I had to speak with the manager. He was rude and said he couldn't do anything, that the restaurant has expenses. Save yourself from this hole in the wall, over priced, dirty, rude manager of a place!!!! It was absolutely my worst dining experience ever, and I dine quite often and I'm usually not a harsh critic.

Menus are sticky and dirty, went to the bathroom and saw a huge insect on the bathroom floor. Spoke to the manager about it. And he wasn't accommodating at all, he was actually rude! The prices are high for a cuban restaurant. And the food tasted hard and old, like they had made it last week. Only reason why we ate there was because I received a gift certificate for $100 from my mom. When I came to use it, they wouldn't take the full amount $100, they told me they would only validate it for $50! I figure they would be a little more nicer considering my situation. What a rip off, never eating there again! Worst time of my life!

I eat out 3 times a week (at least) and the food they served me was the worst food I've been served in a paid establishment (I would take any of the fast foods places over this).

I love latin foods and I am not one to write reviews but I felt that as this was perhaps one of the least enjoyable meals I've had I should try and save someone else.

The service was fine, the place is cheap and cheerful (though the prices aren't so cheap) but the food was tasteless, bland, deep fried, oily goop.

We had the mixed entry platter - 8 different versions of deep fried dough encrusted mince with a garlic, oil & onion dipping sauce. We also had the lobster and the shrimp. The sauces were bland, the food was overcooked and unseasoned.

The mojitos were made with lemon soda and were too sweet.

I have lost all desire to go to Cuba - just in case this really is what Cubans eat.

I usually don't write reviews but I have to say that I been there 4 times and I have never had bad or slow service. Our last visit was last month for my mom's birthday, we had a large party and the service was good.
My husband and I love the food and its way better than the Cuban restaurant in Orange.
It's a relaxed atmosphere with great music on the weekends.
For dessert, I highly recommend the flan with a sideorder of rum and spill it over the flan...delicious. :-)

One dinner was served 20 minutes after everyone else got their meals - totally unacceptable!
My pork meal was full of fat!
Another chicken dinner smelled putrified!

I have wanted to try cuban food a long time so I was very excited to find a cuban restaurant near where I lived. I decided to take my boyfriend on Wednesay since they have a special on Mojitos on Wednesday. The appearance of the restaurant looked pretty interesting since there was a torch located in front of the restaurant entrance. Looks can be deceiving as they say. Once we walked inside the restaurant, the excitement was gone. The restaurant was dark and cold. I told the host/ waiter that we are here for the Mojitos special. He sat us down at a table then he took our drink order. We ordered the Mojitos of course. 10 minutes later our drink arrived. The drink was average, if you're looking to get drunk this drink would be the one. The mint was not muddled enough and there was sweetness what so ever, just the taste of cheap rum and strong mint flavor. Our meal begin with a basket of cold stale bread. My boyfriend ordered their Surf, Turf, & Sky and I ordered their Masas De Puerco and the Cuban chicken noodle soup. The soup was greasy, the noodle was mushy and tasteless. After 15 mins, Our meal arrived, my pork was greasy and dry. The pork need more seasoning and so does the black beans that came with our meals. My boyfriend liked what he ordered. His portion actually was worth the price but mine was not. After we finished our meal we asked for our check. I told the our waiter that I saw on their website that they are offering 15% for dinner. He replied "you have to print the coupon out in order to receive the discount." I provided the coupon but the coupon is actually for 10% rather 15%. I let the waiter know that on the website it stated 15%. He then replied very defensively, "no, there's no 15% off only 10%." I told him to check out his website because it clearly stated on the website that 15% off is offered for dinner. Rather than taking the customer word he decided to be defensive and give me my receipt and turn away. The experience was disappointing.

OK, so you like Cuban food? Let me tell you, Habana Cabana is THE place for that. They have wonderful food, and serve the BEST mojito drink you can have, west of Cuba. They also have live music and dancing, and have salsa lessons on Thursday nights. It is definitely worth the drive.

I was so excited to eat here - the restaurant is so beautiful on the outside and inside. The food, however, reminded me of what I might eat at a nursing home - very bland. No spices or sauces or anything tasty. If this is the best Cuban food in OC, wait until you're outside of OC to try Cuban food.

This was the second time we met a small group of friends at Habana Cabana for dinner. The 1st time the service was mediocre at best, but the food wasn't bad, so we decided to return a 2nd time at a slightly later hour so that we could enjoy the Salsa band & dancing along with our meals. What a mistake!!! To say the service was bad would be a gross understatement, it would have to improve exponentially to reach the level of abyssmal. We had a medium size group (~12 people) & had reservations. They did seat us all at one table, but everything was down hill from there. I'm not sure how the place stays in business. They certainly aren't making money on drinks, as it took at least 1/2 hour to place an order followed by another half hour for delivery. I had the nerve to ask for a glass of water when my meal finally arrived (more about that later) & they did provide one, it just took 45 minutes. As far as the food, I suppose it was OK, it was hard to tell, as all of our meals were cold with the exception of one sizzling platter. Some people sent the food back to be reheated, & the rest of us just ate our dinners cold, as we feared that if the food left it might never come return. By the way, this couldn't be attributed to holding dinners so that our group could all be served at once as our meals trickled out one or two at a time. When we mentioned our displeasure to the manager he seemed to be completely unconcerned. By the time we had all managed to secure & eat our dinners, we wanted nothing more than to get our check & get out of there. Wrong, it took another eon for the bill to arrive, followed by a considerable time spent having discrepancies corrected. When we all finally got out the door it felt like a successful prison break. Needless to say, none of our party will ever eat there again, & we strongly discourage others from doing so unless they are practicing masochists.

I haven't had any of the food yet, but this Sunday I'll be trying it. But the drinks and the salsa lessons are a joy. You just have to arrive there a little earlier, because everyone and there mother ( no really) is going there on Thursday & Sundays at 8:30 pm. It's a real joy, I'm inviting a big group of my friends to go with me this coming Sunday. Don't worry about all the negative comments, just go and see for yourself. If you have really expensive taste, you?re a boring person to hang out with and you don?t like to dance, well than maybe this isn't for you. But if your there just to have fun, by all means, come with your dancing shoes on and be ready to have a lot of fun.

There were two things that were good about this restaurant. 1. The food. 2. The music. I would totally go back for their food. But the service there was the worst that I have EVER experienced in my life. I was expecting great service and great food. I had heard so many great things and I was so disappointed when they took so long to get our drinks to us. It literally took an hour to get water on our table and we probably had to ask for it 3 times before it finally came. We didn't get our drinks until an hour after we ordered them and even them, some people from our party had to get up and go to the bar. I understand that it was a busy night but we made reservations so that they could be prepared and they still were not. It took another hour to get our bill and even after the problem with the drinks, they still tried to charge us for gratuity when they really didn't do anything to make the experience a good one. The owner was extremely rude to the people in our party who brought the problem to his attention and nobody seemed to care about what any of us had to say. It took another hour to get the check because we asked them to make seperate checks and then they combined everything. I'm not one to complain about service at a restaurant, either. So for me to go to the owner myself and tell him that I HAD to leave and I needed my check was bad. I would not recommend this place to anybody that I know... What a shame. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but now that I know what the owner of this place is like I want nothing to do with it. NEVER AGAIN...

Don't let the ambience fool you. It took them over 30 mins. to place water at our table. Another hour for them to bring out our food. Manager was unprofessional and disrespectful. Food was overpriced and definitely not worth the wait. Never going back.

We decided to try this restaurant based off CitySearch reviews (and it's the only Cuban restaurant in the area). The decor is solid and clean, and the menu looked authentic, but sadly, Habana Cabana turned out to be a really mediocre, overpriced Cuban experience.

We tried the Roasted Garlic Chicken as well as the Lechon Asado (toasted pork). The Chicken was serviceable, but it was $8 for a 1/4 Chicken. By comparison most old-school Cuban restaurants serve a 1/2 Chicken for the same price or less! The Lechon (pork) was extremely salty, and despite being brought out soaked in some sauce, it was still really dry. Even the basic Black Beans came out watery and bland.

We also tried the Empanada Pollo (Chicken Empanada) and the crust was flaky and well-done, however the filling was extremely salty as well.

In the end, Habana Cabana turned out to have really mediocre Cuban food, poorly done, and twice as expensive (on many dishes) as any of the authentic, tried-and-true Cuban restaurants like Versailles and Felix, or even Cuban Bistro. I'd spend the extra time and go back to those restaurants than come back to Habana Cabana.

Perhaps my review is a bit tainted by expecting too much. A Cubano coworker told me he had the best Cuban food here he could find in Orange County, so my hopes were high. I found the pork and chicken dishes good, but not "out of this world" good. Had I not gone I with such high expectations, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

It was certainly more casual than I expected (I think I was the only one with a coat and tie in the place). The music started about half way through our meal, so maybe the place was just getting started.

So, The service is good. everyone who works there is really friendly. There is a dance floor and on some nights they have a salsa band play and people dance. it's fun. It's kind of like a wedding, because little kids are there too and people get a little tipsy and have a good time. It has a romantic feel to it also, so it's very versitile like that. Their food is cuban based and tastes pretty authentic with a few variations, but everything has tons of flavor and is really filling. I really recommend going.

Outstanding food and incredible service. The live music adds to the romantic atmosphire. Portions are fantastic. I've had the same great food and service during the day and at night. Great for the family or a quiet dinner for two. Lunch with customers is always a great event.

The waitress was too lazy to walk around the table while serving my dish. As she was reaching accross she dumped my meat directly on the table, then she looked at me and asked if I still want it. I was shocked !!! So she said she would bring me another one in 10 minutes. She took the old one and brought the new one back in 2 minutes. Tne "new" one was cut to 3 pieces and rearanged on the plate. Needless to say I did not eat this. I will never go back that's for sure. The place was near empty on Friday night while other places were crowdy.

I visited the Havana Cafe in Huntington Beach, same owners, and all I have to say is: this is some of the best food I have tasted since my last visit to New York. The portions are very generous, not too spicey and just absolutely delicious. The Cuban Sangrias, Mojitos, and Mango Daquiris are absoultely awesome. The only downside was the ran out of the flan which they make fresh daily. I was a little disappointed I didnt get the chance to try it, but no worries I will go again!
