Went to a friend's birthday party on Saturday night. The band was FANTASTIC but the service was the worst I've ever experienced. Had to wait an hour to get one drink. When it finally arrived it was the wrong drink! Waited another hour to get my food order - which was very mediocre. It looked like the had only ONE waitress for the entire room. Why wouldn't they hire more people in order to make more money and give the customer and much better experience. Would not go back.

We visited Brooklyns Jazz Cafe on Saturday, October 17, 2009 to celebrate my brothers 50th birthday. We were greeted by a DJ on the side of the building inviting us to check him out at the very back of the restaurant at 10pm for more great music and/or entertainment. Which I was very impressed by his gesture. Upon entering the premises, we were greeted again by a hostess and again I was impressed up until the part she directed us to a table with high/bar-like chair stools to be seated at. There were six of us in our party, my brother-in-law and I did not want to sit there due to physical reasons. I, then asked the hostess could we sit somewhere else and she then tried to demand and/or forced us to sit there stating we should have made reservations. I, then informed her that on the website, it states that a party of eight or more should make reservations 24 hours in advance. I asked to speak w/management, she left and came back and directed us to a better table. The food we ordered was not too tasty. The brooklyn cobb salad was satisfactory, and the prehistoric looking fish, low budget tasting fish need to be removed from the menu, they served us cold vegetables, however we did have an excellent host/waiter by the name of Patrick who took our orders. Overall, we spent roughly $150.00, and it was not worth it at all. Get a new chef and buy some "real fish" and lower the prices on your menu. Oh, by the way the band was wonderful.

I called and reserved dinner for 20 plus people for my birthday celebration. The reservation was from 8 to 10. When I arrived at the restaurant only a few of my guest had arrived. The table they seated me and my guest at was a table for 7 people. They stated that since all of my party was not there at 8:00PM that they would only provide us with one table. Mind you I sent my sister and 3 friends ahead so that someone would be there on time to confirm our reservation at 8. They were seated and were told the same thing about the seating. I got there about 8:20pm and I was horrified. To see that I had invited all of these people out for dinner and to listen to a band and it wasn??t happening. The wait staff was very rude. When my guest placed their dinner orders, they were reminded by the wait staff, about having to release their seats at 10pm. It was embarrassing! They actually came over to the table at 9:50 and said the next party is here.

I had people sitting all over. I had a total of 39 people show up that night, 29 were there for dinner and the others came to hang out. I was running all night trying to visit with friend and co-workers that had taken time out to share an evening with me at a restaurant that I had raved about. It was sad.

If, in the beginning, when I made my reservation, I was told that all of you party had to be present to be seated, I would have shared that with my guest. If I was told that the table was only available from 8pm to 10pm, I would have planned it from 10pm to close. I sent out 36 invitation, inviting people to enjoy appetizer, cocktails followed by dinner and listening to the band.

Guess what, the person that took my reservation was Dewayne the bartender. I was informed by the host that he didn??t know what to tell me when I made my reservation. So I have to suffer and I am embarrassed by their stupidity. As a business owner I would not allow my bartenders to take reservations. If he did, I would have my host staff follow up with a courtesy call to say these are the guide line for reserving a party. Needless to say it was AWFUL! I tried t make the best of because of my guest who were doing the same for me. True friends! Brooklyn??s - Never again!!!!

Ps..the owner need to get rid of those steroid fed host! They look like punks and act like women.

My girlfriends and I went to Brooklyn on a Saturday night. We did not make reservations, because their website states that they do not take reservations for small parties. When one of my friends got there, the host sat her at a table and told her we would have to move at 10, because it was reserved at that time. When we got there, we told the host that we wanted to stay past 10 and asked if there was another table where we could sit and stay later. He told us that he did have a table, so we moved there. At a few minutes before 10, one of the people in our party asked for her check. The waitress brought all of our checks. When we asked the her if we needed to pay and start a new tab, she told us that the host had told her to bring all of our checks because our table was reserved at 10. He told us that there was another seating at 10. However, no one else around us was asked to leave their talbes. We asked to have him come over, and he told us we had to get up. We asked to speak with the owner. We told him our story, and he, too, told us we had to get up. We sat there and finished our drinks. The host came by and told us that the people who had reserved the table were there, and we needed to get up. We got up and stood against the wall for another 30 minutes before anyone came to sit at the table. Every other table in the restaurant had a reserved sign, except the one we were sitting at. My friends and I each spent $40-50 and were going to continue to drink, spending even more than that. The host was rude, and the owner was even more rude. As we left, I said to the host, "Thank you for ruining the only girls' night out we have had in 2 years." To which he replied, "You're welcome."

This place has a wonderful menu and phenomenal jazz music. I enjoyed mySunday brunch as I was serenaded with amazing music. Everyone is dresses so casual. It's a relaxing place to enjoy a meal. Parking is a bit difficult but it is worth the hassle of find a parking spot.
