We love Camp Bow Wow! Clean facility, friendly staff who take the time to get to know the dogs that come to camp. You can even view your dog on their webcam feed. We know our dog will be well taken care of whether we board him overnight

Camp Bow Wow in Durham has been a lifesaver for both my 'active' dog and my personal sanity. The counselors are very hands-on and always friendly. They've even taught my dog multiple tricks that she would never learn at home. We both love

I used this facility for the first time at the weekend due to my daughter's wedding. My 2 little dogs were dropped off early saturday morning and picked up sunday morning. My husband went to collect them but was handed 1 correct and 1 incorrect dog. This strange dog had my dogs leash on and was obviously in the cage with my other dog. The second dog came from a shelter and is very nervous so I was concerned that a strange dog had been in a cage with him. I called the facility and no-one answered so I left message to call me regarding the situation. I have now waited 5 days and I just called again. I spoke to Teresa and explained my concern. She did not seem to be too worried or concerned and said it had been mentioned to the handlers to be more careful. I told her my concern was that my second little dog is from a shelter and needed to be with my other dog so I asked how long he had been in a cage with a strange dog. She told me " Oh, only one night".......... THEY WERE ONLY THERE FOR ONE NIGHT!!!!! I said I was very unhappy, she still was 'unmoved' and I insisted on having the manager call me. This may not happen as I waited 5 days before I had to call them back because they ignored my message.
Whilst typing this, Teresa called me back and told me that the strange dog had NOT spent the night in the wrong cage with mine but in fact the mix up was made that morning after play. She actually apologized and offered a free day care. Not sure if my little shelter dogg DID spend the night away from his companion and instead with a stranger but of course I will never know................

My dog, Casey, LOVES going to Camp Bow Wow! He is always excited to go, and is always tired, but happy, when I pick him up in the evening. We have also used Camp Bow Wow in another state, and the Durham Camp made it so easy with the 'interview' and simply emailing the files. Now I can travel and know that I have boarding options.
Friendly staff!

I have a high energy yellow Labrador Retriever who needs more exercise that I can offer. He LOVES going to Camp Bow Wow as he plays ALL DAY and comes home tired, ready to be a calm family member and focuses better on the obedience training exercises that we are working on in the evening. Plus, when I was traveling, Camp Bow Wow was able to email his records to Nashville, TN, and I had instant day care services for him at their location while I visited with my family. We're so pleased to find high quality, fun day care. Thanks!

Pros: Socialization for my dog, lots of play!

Cons: none

I have been taking my dog here on a consistent basis for several years and have no idea what I would do without CBW!! I have never had ANY negative experiences. It puts my MIND AT EASE to know that when I pick her up she is tired from playing and has been well cared for and looked after. I have never worried about her care or treatment here. If I did, I would not continue to take her. As soon as I mention she is "going to camp today" she impatiently sits by the door waiting. She runs inside every time excited to be there and play with her 'friends'. The staff has always been very friendly, attentive and accomodating. I have recommended CBW to so many over the years without hesitation and wll continue to do so with confidence.

I have been a client for years and have been satisfied with the service and the care my dog has received over the years. Heck, I even recommended this place to other friends who may be looking for a place to board their dogs. In the last year or so, I began to notice a change in their service--i.e., lots of longtime staff turnovers and poor handling of problems by management. I am now unsure about this place, especially after what happened with my dog during a recent overnight stay. There was a sharp object in his kennel and he cut paw very deeply. Instead of notifying me of the problem immediately so I can arrange for pick up and for medical treatment, the staff notified management, who in turn, NEVER bother to notify me of the problem. By the time I went to pick up my dog, his flesh was hanging out of his paw! I had to take him to the emergency vet because it was after hours. I am still waiting for either the manager or the owner to call me back so I can get an explanation why this was allowed to happen. My dog will require one more emergency vet visit to check on his wound (because it is the weekend) before I can take him back to his regular vet. This has already cost me hundreds of dollars. I used to feel great about this place, but I am not so sure anymore. You can almost count this as neglect. Let's see what kind of explanation they are planning to give me.

I started taking my newly adopted shelter dog here several months ago because she couldn't be left alone in the house during the day. She was scared of other people and very nervous when she started coming here but now she loves it! I have to hold her back from racing through the doors! She loves the staff as well, they're super nice and very good with dogs. She also gets a great workout so she isn't so hyper at home in the evenings. It is good to know that I can leave her there where she is safe and having fun so I don't have to worry when I'm at work.

I take my dog to Camp Bow Wow for day camp, and she loves it! She??s an active girl, so CBW is a great source of exercise for her. It??s also been very good for her socialization. She was a rescue, and when I got her, she was nervous around her people and in new situations. CBW has really helped her come out of her shell. She??s still nervous in new places, but at CBW, she seems very comfortable and greets strangers enthusiastically. I also appreciate that they have webcams, so I can keep an eye on her during the day. My only complaint is that I think they need more people in with the dogs during playtime. They always have one person, but I think at least two would be better for safety reasons.

We have been taking our dog,
Trooper, to Camp Bow Wow for over 5 years for both day care and boarding; he literally runs from the car to the door. This is quite a testimony to the establishment and the care that he receives. We have recommended them to many of our friends.

I've been bringing my dogs here for daycamp for more than three years and this is the only place I trust to board my dogs. Yes, they've had some turnover issues, but Neil and Chip seem to be working through it. I have never had a problem with the staff; each and every person I've encountered has been helpful and friendly. As for the person who mentioned, "uneducated, unprofessional white trash old women," why does someone have to be young and attractive to take care of your dog? What kind of education do you need to make sure the dogs don't get into fights, or to love the dogs? As long as they have someone knowledgeable on staff and easy access to a vet, all the employees don't need to be vet techs.

They keep the front pretty clean, but dogs have accidents in the lobby because they get so excited. The staff immediately cleans up the mess, but they don't always have time for a deep cleaning right then; that may be why people have complained about the dog smell. Some days are worse than others, but they get it taken care of as soon as possible.

As for how they treat the dogs, I have never had a concern that my girls are being treated well. They get really excited when they see their favorite staffers. People should know that every business has it's problems, but as long as they treat me and my dogs well, I'll keep bringing my dogs here.

I have boarded my dog at Camp Bow Wow and taken her there for Doggy Daycare and we have been so pleased with both experiences. It's so clear that they care a great deal about the dogs that they are caring for. The dogs have so much fun there too. The webcams are great. It's fun to peek in on your dog while you're away. ok i can understand if one or two employees wrote a bad comment but there are to many of them that were wrote that were "employees". My dog hates this place so I was sceptic of taking her to another day care I have a friend that referred me to another camp close by and the staff is awesome. But here they dont care they have attitudes and are hateful. I love taking my dog to the other camp and I will NEVER take my dog back to the Page rd camp. Prices to high for my dog not to get the play time they deserve. How can they do that. THEY HATE DOGS.... BEWARE

I've been taking my two dogs to Camp Bow Wow on Page Road for the past month and they absolutely love it. I was a little concerned bringing them because they had not been socialized much with other dogs the past couple years. So, I was a very nervous mama on their interview day! but much to my surprise they did great and they both got passing certificates :)
Now, whenever I mention the word camp they get so excited. They have made new friends and I even though I have never boarded my dogs, I would feel very comfortable leaving them here. I have spent some time talking with the staff and the counselors seem very knowledgeable, some were vet techs in previous jobs, and all are trained in CPR and First Aid for dogs. It is obvious that the employees are huge dog lovers and treat the dogs very well. My dogs come home sooo exhausted :)
Treat your dog to a day at camp! The interview day is free!

First off, rest assured I am not a "fired employee" which seems to be the scape goat here. I am a former client, used this facility for over a year.

When I first started taking my dog to Camp Bow Wow, it was great. Very friendly & experienced staff, I could leave her all day, go to work & not have to worry about her health or safety. About a year after I started taking her, services started to decline greatly. I noticed a ridiculously huge turn over rate. Every single day there were new employees, and when I asked about the people who used to take care of my dog, people she had grown to love & trust, well, I was told that all the long term employees left. There was nothing left but uneducated, unprofessional white trash old women and inexperienced, spoiled teenagers. And I am supposed to trust these people with my dog, who is like a child to me? People with children would not be okay with taking their kid to school to a new teacher everyday, just as I was very uncomfortable with leaving my dog to new strangers everyday. My dog did not look forward to going to Camp nearly as much anymore; because she did not know nor trust anyone on staff. She became nervous and did not eat well on the days she went to camp, which my vet attributed to the stress. Also, there would be maybe 2 or 3 employee cars in the parking lot on any given morning and yet I look on the cameras and see TONS of dogs, running everywhere, crowded, with one employee supervising at least 25, inside & outside. I decided to ask the current receptionist one day what the deal was, why had things declined so much? I was told that the owner, Neil, had become money hungry and was offering very low pay, no benefits to the long term employees... no health insurance, no paid sick days, nothing. Also I was told that employees did not feel safe because the acceptance process, which at one time was strict & selective, had all but been completely eliminated and there were dogs there who did not belong there.

This is for all the people that are writing false accusations on here about this camp because i work at this camp and i know that a lot of things on here are far from the truth. For beginners we do not take any pit bulls so i dont know what you were looking at when you wrote that and we do not put a lot of dogs in one cabin because each dog has his own cabin and the only way more than one dog is in a cabin is if it is a multiple dog family. There is always an employee in the play areas with the dogs and just because you cant see them at the precise time you are looking dont mean that there is no one in there with them and we do not over crowd the play areas because we go by a state ratio. As for the statement made about bully breeds i am not sure what you meant by that but we do not have any bully breeds there. The dogs that come there play and they have a great time romping and rolling with each other and if some of the romping and rolling appears to look like one dog is bullying another one thats not what is happening because we wont allow that so i assure you that they are just having a great time playing. The staff works very hard here to keep everything neat, clean and sanitary because these are important things to us. We love and enjoy the dogs that come here and we look forward to seeing them everyday and i also assure you that they are our main concern. Cleanliness and safety are two very important factors to us. The clients that leave their dogs with us can walk out the door knowing that their babies are well cared for by people that care and love dogs. People please do not continue writing things on this site unless you know exactly what you are talking about because it will get you nowhere. To all of the people that bring their dogs to us please continue bringing them and i assure you they are in great hands.

This is for all the people that are writing false accusations on here about this camp because i work at this camp and i know that a lot of things on here are far from the truth. Pros: Friendly smiling faces to greet the client and dog, staff that is more than willing to assist clients if they need assistance getting dogs inside or out to the car, plenty of parking space

Cons: none

I have had to deal with someone here who went on the word of another person who complained. I am sorry that they posted something so negative. I have contacted that person and found they had flat out lied.
I personally researched this place and found it to be top notch.

I used Camp bow wow at the Durham location right outside raleigh. It was very close to my workplace which was awesome! Basically, I was ok with the service. It could have been better. The areas really smelled like dog which ofcourse makes sense cause its a daycare for dogs! But, the other place I used really close by called You lucky dog smelled super clean every time I came in. And I love clean! I liked how camp bow wow had alot of dogs and the webcams. But the rooms are so small! Even the outdoor play areas seemed tiny compared to other places i've used. (We moved quite a few times for work and have seen many many daycares.) Even in washington DC all the daycares had much bigger rooms with alot more staff!

Most of the times I came to drop off my dog or pickup where good. I only had one very bad experience with an extremly rude employee. Who didn't seem to care about anything except having me pay for passes. So 1 out of 8-10 visits wasn't bad. One of my biggest concerns where that I never actually saw anyone cleaning or really "playing" with the animals. But my dog seemed to enjoy it and has only gotten minor cuts at this place. I am however concerned at the amount of bully breeds at the daycare. Since my dog had been attacked by pitbulls twice in the past. BUT NOT AT THIS FACILITY!!!!!!!!!! It just had me worried enough that I stopped taking my dog there. The price was typical for doggy care.

Pros: Lots of dogs, fair price, enough parking, package deals

Cons: Lots of bully breeds, long check-in/out sometimes, Very young staff attending to the dogs instead of cleaning like the other facilities. I'm used to seeing adults watching dogs. Smelly areas

They are very mindful of our training at home, and they try it onsite as well. Great, great place. Our dog loves it, and they love our dog!

Our dog has been a regular day-camper for the past 6 months. She almost pulls the leash out of my hand in her excitement to see all of her camp friends. They keep the dogs sequestered according to their size. My dog was a small puppy when she first went, and they put her in with the small dogs. She has now graduated to the medium and large dog areas. The cameras in each area make watching your dog an addictive distraction at work. The staff is always friendly. The prices are a bit on the high side, but purchasing a package can get you a better rate. We switched from taking her to our vet's daycare because of the convenient location and hours. If someone is checking in their dog for boarding and you are late to work, be prepared to wait. Hopefully they can find a way to take in the pre-paid day campers without having to wait for people in line to fill out forms... Our dog enjoys herself and burns off a lot of energy. No problems with eye infections (?)

My dog goes there every day. Dogs seem to be excited to be there. Very nice staff. They serve sirloin on Mondays. Socialization is very good for the dogs and you can see they're worn out by the end of the day.
Hours and location are very convenient. The staff seems to know how to handle dogs very well.

Pros: Location, staff, hours, Monday is sirloin day, Teddy the wonder dog!

Cons: Sometimes a dog just smells like a dog!

I would recommend Camp Bow Wow to dog owners who appreciate great service and care for pets, as well as, great service with a smile every time you visit. The staff really enjoy working and caring for my pet and others. While Camp Bow Wow is a great place for dogs to hangout all day and/or weekend, I would like to see the camp move to a larger facility that has a large outside area where dogs could run and exercise more.

As for the cost, I would say it's a little pricey for me and the average dog owner.

After reviewing many doggie day cares around the triangle area, camp bow wow offered the best service for the price. They allow my dog plenty of exercise during the day with other dogs, and give her time to nap from noon-2 every day. the best part for me is going online and watching their live cameras so I can see what my dog is doing. I highly recommend camp bow wow. the single negative aspect is that i think their fees could slightly be lower, but other than that I think its great!

Camp Bow Wow has been a great find for my family. I regularly use them for both day camp and overnight boarding and have had a great experience with both. The staff greet my dogs and I by name each
visit and never make me feel like just another customer. I like the ability to see wht they are up to on the doggy cams and can verify that they are always being supervised. They come home each time
well exercised and socialized. It is a bit pricey, but after comparing it to other doggy day care facilties in the area I have found it to be somewhere in the middle, especially if you purchase one of the packages.

Thanks Camp Bow Wow for taking such great care of our pups. Being able to watch them during the day while we were out of town was great and put our minds at ease. We still missed them but we saw they were doing fine. Thanks again.

My dog goes nuts just mentioning the word Camp. He can not wait to get there and see his friends. They have so much fun and when he gets home, he has a more exhausting day than I. What a relief that I do not have to walk him for miles and that he is getting great exercise and makes new friends. Thanks Camp Bow Wow for doing it right.

We used this facility mid-October 2006. We left our dog there for a weekend. The care they gave him was fine, although he developed an eye-infection the day after we brought him home. I'm sure something like that is common in such facilities but our friends' dog also got an eye infection from there on a completely different occasion. When we took our dog to the Camp Bow Wow in Chapel Hill (for a week, no less) he had no such problems. WATCH OUT FOR EYE INFECTIONS AT THIS FACILITY. It took us a vet visit and expensive eye medication to treat the problem.

That wasn't a huge deal. Here is my real greivance. My fiance and I received a $70 charge from Camp Bow Wow on Monday, Nov. 27 (just after Thanksgiving). We'd never made an appointment for those dates. My fiance had received a voicemail two weeks earlier stating that we had an reservation coming up. But since neither of us had made a reservation we thought nothing of it. Our dog's name is Scout and they have several other dogs named Scout in their system so we thought that they probably just called the wrong people.

We've tried in vain to get them to refund our money. They charged us $70 for a reservation we never made, and for two nights of pet sittng we never received. The manager is being very stubborn on this and we're getting nowhere with him. If anything changes, I'll update this to reflect it. In the meantime, I'm very putout with them. They stole our money!!

Pros: Good for the dogs, not locked up all day.

Cons: Camp Bow Wow is a franchise so use a different venue. Unfair credit card charge. Stole our money!
