a great local find

somewhat chilly industrial place that took me two uturns to find (the entrance is on the north side of a large brick building); really great selection; very nice italian selection (my persnonal fave) with good spanish section and modest but eclectic selections from all areas; they have done their homework on selections; prices are very good for the quality, and a few bucks cheaper than stores that i usu frequent; they had an italian tasting for a buck, with a good crowd of nice people and very friendly and knowledgeable staff; i will definitely go back

This place is pretty new since it opened in early 2007. It's in a red-brick sort of raw warehouse space on Telegraph at the northern border of Temescal. It's kind of hard to see from the street. Their only sign is a hard to read bottle of wine cutout on a pole.
For being so seemingly hole-in-the-wall they actually have a great selection. It's a world store and doesn't have one particular emphasis. The wines they do stock are high quality and good bargains. The pricing is pretty commensurate with other small wine shops but you can get some good deals if you know what to look for. We got a 1992 Auslese Reisling from a good producer for under $20! The staff was helpful and friendly.
Definitely check this place out!
