Tio Leo's Mexican Restaurant

The food is very good, authentic Mexican fare. It's reasonably priced and in a good location near the freeway and University of San Diego. It's fun for a business lunch.

Very decent "Old Town" style Mexican food (if you don't get that reference, you probably will never come by this place.) I've driven by this main stay in the Linda Vista neighborhood a billion times, but didn't actually try it until today. The interior is filled with booths (a plus!) and they have an interior fountain. They also have a separate bar area with a stage, sound system and huge tv. It looks like they are booking some local music slates on the weekend nights- also cool.

I ordered my lunch from the "healthy choices" menu. it was a pollo asado rice bowl. I thought it was pretty funny that their "healthy" rice bowl was served with a side of flour tortillas- talk about hidden calories. It was a nice try- but you don't go to a Mexican restaurant for health food.

Solid local option- not a place I would drive to...

They have some amazing tacos. It is the ultimate dirty san diego mexican joint but it is so good! Try the tacos with the guacamole just once and the dirtiness will disappear from you mind!

This is a great place that my family and friends enjoy going to. Lots of delicious salsa and chips are provided as soon as you sit down. The service is usually fast and efficient, and the place is clean and decorated nicely. The menu has a great selection but their "Tio Leo's Special" is an amazing dish that provides everything you could possibly desire in Mexican food and is more than enough for 2 to 3 people. The only dish I did not care for was the crispy quesadilla - too greasy. The prices are reasonable and discount coupons are provided on their website. I think anyone would really enjoy this restaurant.
