The Sanctuary Spa

I have been to spas around the world, and this is the cutest and most intimate (without feeling "cheapy") spa that I have been to.
It's prices aren't that bad compared to spas of similar size and services.
All the masseuses and estheticians must have at least 3 years of experience before they are even considered for a position there... So you know ALL of the employees are great with their hands!
If you decide to go... check out their complimentary Guava products (shampoo.. lotion.. in the womens locker room). No body store can top the delicious smell or texture!

This is one of my happiest happy places. The spa is located inside the Pacific Athletic Club in the Carmel Valley area of North Coast San Diego.
The club itself is clean, comfortable and wonderfully decorated. The Sanctuary offers the usual treatments--specialized facials, massages, body treatments and manicure/pedicures. It's smaller than many day spas, so less intimidating. When you check in with the receptionist, you'll get a robe, slippers and locker in the gym downstairs where you can change and take a steam or sauna, then shower if you want. The quiet, candle-lit waiting room offers cucumber water, herb teas and fruit.
I've never had a bad mani/pedi, facial or body treatment (scrubs, wraps) here and only one or two massages I didn't enjoy. Ask for Amina, Erma or Lauren for massages. Prices are moderate to high. They offer couples' massages and half- or full-day spa days.
