Lagosia West African Cuisine

My friend had the house stew and I had the egusi stew. Both were yummy. I ordered mine spicy with cassava. I loved the spicy kick. It wasn't too overwhelming and you could still taste the flavors of the stew. Plus, the meat was tender. The cassava was also good. I'm used to seeing cassava as a dessert, so to have it as a savory side dish was a nice change. It had a little sour flavor, but went well with the meal. My friend had house stew mild with yams. The house stew had a little sweetness to it. The yams looked like mashed potatoes but had a gooey texture that I really liked (the cassava also had that gooey texture).

If you're leery of African food, don't be. Lagosia is a really nice, brand new restaurant and does very well. The wait staff was helpful and did a great job. The restaurant was designed very well and has a comfortable atmosphere.

Their plantain appetizer is awesome. I really enjoyed the spice in all the dishes (the food actually had a little heat!) Everything was done well and had nice modern presentation. The food is by nature kind of heavy and starchy but that was actually played down a bit in a good way.

It's location isn't that great for foot traffic from restaurant goers which is a shame!

More people should definitely check this place out.
