DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS GYM. THEY HAVE REPEATEDLY STOLEN MONEY FROM ME FOR OVER A YEAR. \r

Yoga teachers are fantastic! Well trained. They know what they are doing and do a great job of explaining the minute details of each pose.

I joined Empower Fitness about a year ago and I LOVE IT! The other gyms I belonged to in the past felt like meat markets and overly crowded. I absolutely love going to empower fitness. I feel like I can do my own thing without people watching me all the time. I can really concentrate on my workout, and believe me, I always get in a good one.

Troy and Jay Jay have been so helpful to me. They are both excellent trainers. I would say the best I ever had, and the prices are great!

I took Yoga with Lidia for the first time in my life and I love that too. They also offer spa services, such as massage and facials. Sally gives an awesome massage, and Kelly's facials are out of this world. Iv'e never had a better massage or facial anywhere. I love that Empower Fitness offers all of these services to me. I feel like they have saved my life and I am EMPOWERED!

The knowledge of the trainers is phenomenal! The location is convenient, (near Pearl and PSU). The space is pleasant, clean, organized, and the workout is HARD but affordable! If you are not into the 'flesh' parade of other gyms, this is the one for you! My trainer, Taylor, is on time, efficient, and knowledgeable, not to mention, funny, articulate, and cute! The facility has other amenities I haven't utilized but I'd like to, such as massage, spiritual counseling, and other spa services.

Empower Fitness is a very different kind of facility, far from the "big box" gyms where people go to socialize or pick up other members. It's a much more intimate setting with good energy and a relaxing feel to it, while at the same time providing innovative fitness equipment for a complete workout. The entertainment centers at each cardio station are a nice touch. There is plenty of room for stretching and relaxation as well. The trainers are all very knowledgeable and always willing to help and advise. They also offer intense group-training classes as well and yoga and many other sevices. I have really enjoyed being a member there!

Pros: Personal Trainers with a wealth of knowledge

Cons: I have no excuses left.

I recently was visiting my mother (who is a member) from out-of-state and was immediately welcomed into the "empower community." They are supportive, caring and have had a wonderful, healthy & happy effect on my mother's life. I can't thank them enough. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Pros: caring staff, real "family" atmosphere

This place is the ultimate in personal attention. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and membership costs are very reasonable. Hours and classes are convenient too. My sports massage after my workout was extremely effective, probably the best one I've had in ages!

I stumbled upon Empower Fitness when I was looking for good and affordable yoga classes. I found that and more. The atmosphere here is really mellow and it's never crowded so it makes working out fun and unintimidating. The staff is great and Troy offers small group coaching sessions as an introduction to the equipment and to create a personalized workout regimen. Since I'm not very gym savvy this was a big plus for me. He's always happy to answer questions and to help me with my form when I ask.

The yoga classes are wonderful. Sean is a terrific teacher and since the classes are so small he is always willing to cater to the wishes of the class. It's like having a personal yoga instructor.

Being a college student I figured that a gym membership was a luxury I would have to forgo but they offer some really good student rates and it's definitely worth it for all of the personal attention.

Empower is a really laid-back place to workout or take some classes. The basketball game was on last night during my coaching session, so Troy turned it on over the stereo system so I wouldn't miss it! It made working out SO much easier! I'm really looking forward to the Yoga and Health Retreat. I've never tried yoga before, so this will be a great introduction.

Pros: relaxed, motivating, knowledgeable staff

I just joined Empower because of its proximity to work - and they offered a locals discount. I'm impressed with how quickly I can get through my workouts because all the equipment I need is right next to me when I need it. The free group coaching was a great motivator to get me on the right track too.

Great place if you actually want to exercise without needing to primp beforehand! Everything is pretty private (cardio, lifting equipment, private shower) and classes are kept small on purpose. GREAT TRAINERS! I'm excited to see the expansion coming soon!

Probably the best workout in town! Very creative coaches/instructors that find muscles you haven't felt in a long time. The place isn't a typical gym - more like a boutique club in NYC except the price is really reasonable.

Being an athlete for a long time training with people in more traditional gyms, I was a little unsure coming up to Empower. Once I met the staff and trainers and saw how comprehensive the facility was, I was sold! It's definitely different but can meet the needs of just about anyone. I love the group coaching classes... you definitely push yourself harder when there are 2 other people in the room, but it's set up to be as competitive or comfortable as the clients want. Try the free one - it's definitely worth it and you'll want more!

Pros: Ambience, Personalized Service/Classes, Fitness Tracking Computer Programs

Cons: Awkward dumbbells

I just enrolled at this facility, and from what I have seen so far I think I will enjoy it. I was given a non intrusive fitness test and a DVD to show me how to use the equipment, very helpful.

my faith in working out has perhaps been restored...although i adore physical activities and exercise, i tend to avoid gyms because of the tendencey towards a focus on purely external results. i feel like i have finally found a place to exercise that is equally as focused on how good it makes me feel inside. i'm excited that this might get me on a regular workout routine more consistently.
the space is suprisingly serene and calm, given its location in the midst of downtown. i found myself completely forgetting that i had walked in from the noise and hectic-ness of a weekday downtown..i liked that there are windows facing outside, along with gentle lighting, and little touches like flowers and artwork.
i appreciate that it's so quiet, but that will probably change as more members join. for now though, i am relishing the privacy..
i'm disappointed that they're not open on sundays, but i'll survive. it is nice that they're open until 9pm since i can't always manage to come before the evenings. it seems like there are some kinks to work out with the technology (tv's etc.) but it's a small detail in my mind.
i haven't tried any of the classes yet, but i am interested to test them out soon. spinning is something i haven't ever done but i think i might try it since they offer a cycling class.
i'm thrilled to have someplace like this, so convenient and nice. and hopefully it will encourage me to keep my promises to take care of my physical health more...

I love this place. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. I agree with the last review.... its different. I was even served french press coffee when I went in this morning after I had watched my stocks while running on the treadmill. The private TV's are a nice touch. The lighting and art was't expected.... very nice.

Cons: Opens at 6 not 5:30 but worth the wait.

After trying to to find a place to workout and train for years, I feel like someone has gotten it right! I have trained with Troy "the studios owner" off and on for years. He's really good but at times I have felt rushed even uncomfortable at where we where training"or coaching as he calls it". Some times it felt like he was distracted "sorry Troy" or not even able to provide what I have needed. So after our workouts off I would go to my normal box gym trying to follow what I was suppose to do. For years Troy told me about this place he was designing, and the last studio he own was pleasent but at time left something to be desired. Well he did it! Small yet spacious, well designed, and fully functional. Lifting there was wonderful and the best workout I have had alone for years. Its hard to describe but while working out I had my own gym cubical type thing. My own gym. This is the kind of thing every workout fan would LOVE at home but didn't even know you wanted. There are 3 of these cubicals and while I was working out someone else was being trained and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. In what usually takes me over an hour to do I got one of the best workouts of my life in 38 min. Then I did cardio, and had my own TV. Every piece of cardio equipment has its own TV and the elliptical I was on was really smooth and very adjustable to my height, which was nice different but nice. At this point I am going to bring up what I thought was going to be a negative, the shower. There is only one but man I can't complain, it was comfortable private and had a better showerhead than I have at home. After all this I did something I haven't done in years since I was locked into a mega long contract at another gym "which I will probably never use again" I joined. Hopefully, the memberships really are limited so it doesn't get to crowded but its only a 3 month contract and then month to month. If it stays uncrowded I will be in workout heaven for years.

Pros: Best designed workout place I've been in. Free Parking.

Cons: Limited free parking. Yet to see if it gets super crowded.
