I just moved from Florida where I absolutely loved my vet. I never thought I would find another vet that was as good, but I did. She was so sweet with Carolyn, and she is unfortunately a handful. Her staff was really nice to, I have never met a better group of folks and would highly recommend them to anyone! Very nice hospital, clean, well kept. A lot more services than most vets and seems like staff is really professional. Not a bunch of high school kids like I am used to. Finally I found one, so just thought I would let others know out there, there is hope. Kilo (my dog) has special needs. The doctor there looked at her chart before my appointment. The other two places I went to didn't even bother. She was ready for the appointment and Kilo's care seems to so far be very smooth. Kilo is kind of picky too, and they seemed to hit it off. I took my cat into Hemlock Bluffs Animal Hospital for a check up and mat removal. I was told the clinic had a shampoo that would help with the mats and I agreed to try it. I paid on the way out, (with cat in arms) with my credit card--therefore only seeing a total amount and not an itemized accounting of what I was paying for. When I got home and looked at the itemized statement in the bag, I realized I had paid $22 for 8 oz of shampoo. I felt this was more than I wanted to spend and later returned to request a refund. The refund was refused because this was a prescription item. I asked to speak to the veterinarian and we went into an examining room with the door closed. I suggested they tell people the price and also the non-returnable feature of items they purchase, to prevent misunderstandings such as this. I wished them well in business, as one female business owner to another.Two days later I was sent a letter saying they would no longer treat my cat due to the problems I had caused. I never once raised my voice, used bad language, or lost my temper so I am unsure what "problems" I caused. I believe they want to charge whatever and not be questioned about it--in any way. I have filed a formal complaint with the NC Veterinary Medical Board. Be sure you know what you are paying for at Hemlock Bluffs Animal Hospital before you leave! Care of the pet was fine. The staff is extremely professional, friendly, and compassionate. They've helped me through some of the hardest times a pet owner will face and gave me all the information possible to help me make the right decisions. My dogs have always gotten top notch care for all of their needs. I've recommended all of my friends to them and everyone of them has had the same excellent service that keeps me and them coming back. My soon to be 7 year old Golden has been receiving warm, caring, compassionate care from Dr. Synder and her knowledgeable and professional staff since he was 12 weeks old. Timber has had 3 major surgeries while a patient at Hemlock Bluffs. All of which he recovered from beautifully. During these times of crisis the staff always made an effort to answer all my questions no matter how many times I asked and how trival they might have been. There attitude towards me as a pet owner is very holistic. It doesn't matter if Timber is having a medical issue or is just there for preventive care. He loves spending time at Hemlock Bluffs!! Posted 04/14/08 at 8:34am Excellent CARING Care for your pets Visiting Hemlock Bluffs Animal Hospital is much like visiting a friend at home. They are always very welcoming, and remember us by name, both the family and the four-legged members of the family. i have no idea how many patients they have, but they make you feel like your pet is their very favorite, of course, it could just be that our pet IS their favorite! ;) We have a very sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who has been treated by Dr. Snyder and her wonderful staff since she was a tiny puppy. She has had several surgeries and other treatments, and they always have her care and comfort in mind. They are very communicative, and discuss treatment options and outcomes with you. Every interaction with them has been great! We rarely board our dog, but on the occasions where we do need to leave her behind, we have come to trust her to their care, and she seems to enjoy the extra attention that they give her because " She is SO Sweet" They offer boarding, grooming and supplies services, in addition to excellent care for medical conditions. You always feel the love that they give their patients, and it does not seem that they are just doing a job, but are doing a job that they love. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to avoid feeling like their pet is just a number to them, and let the folks at Hemlock Bluffs care for the pets in your family. you will be glad you did!
