The US National Whitewater Center is a wonderful, family-friendly destination. Each year, we enjoy KinderMourn's (www.kindermourn.org) Duck Race at the Center. We also enjoy spending time at the Center riding the bike trails and eating in the restaurant.

Awesome atmosphere and lots to do. I went to the Whitewater center to do the Mega Zipline for my birthday. It was the best time I've had for $10. If you can spend all day, get a pass to do it all.

We also saw the fireworks there last year and it was a great display without the terrible crowds.

The US National Whitewater Center an outdoor recreational complex best known for the artificial whitewater course (the largest in the world) but it also has hiking trails, a climbing center and a ropes course. When I went I only did the whitewater course so that is what i will review.

The first point I would like to make is that the watercourse at the Whitewater Center is not for novice paddlers mainly because of the eddies found on the "river". They are exceedingly dynamic and most recirculate back into the hydraulics that help form them causing inexperience paddlers to get stuck in the drops.

On the plus side, there are no keeper hydraulics, sieves strainers or undercut. The only way you could really get injured would be an abrasion due to the fact the ??river? bottom is pure, sandpaper-like concrete. When you flip upside down, you can hang out indefinitely ??waiting for the ideal time to roll. There??s no need to swim because of something nasty downstream!

The rapids are superb ranging from class III to class IV rapids. This is very impressive considering the river is completely man-made. The rapids are very fast in certain places and provide quite a rush.

I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking to satisfy there kayaking urge without having to travel to Western NC.
