3 stars - food
1 star - service (server)
2 stars - price & quantity

I've eaten at Kabuki a total of 3 times. The first two times my impressions were average for the quantity/taste/price. But this last time was the worst service I received from them. The food was acceptable but by all means average.

Strike 1:
Our server brought our order out and told us the wrong names of our dishes. C'mon, at least learn what your serving. This was important because we ordered with friends and needed to know what roll was which because my gf was allergic to albacore. That really wasn't much of an issue but it did help set the tone as what to expect service wise.

Strike 2:
We ordered a hot plate from the kitchen and our server forgot to put the order in. We asked our server about our dish and all we got was a sketchy "oh, I'll check the kitchen to see if your order is ready"...before walking away she adds "If they didn't make your order yet, do you want it still?" Not even admitting to her mistake of forgetting to maybe at least redeeming herself. Mind you, I understand that could've been the truth but we almost finished eating 7 dozen rolls in a span of 20-30mins and what was forgotten was a measly appetizer.

Strike 3:
Lastly, we split our order with our friends. We gave two cards and wrote down explicitly how much on each card on our bill. Our server came back to get our cards and I very briefly explained to her how we wanted it split and pointed to what we wrote in which she replied, "yea yea I get it" in a quick condescending tone. At which my girlfriend replies jokingly amongst my friends and I -"are you sure? Well, it turns out she wasn't sure when I checked my bank account online to find out that she had charged me TWICE. Once for the split and the other for the full total. Pure incompetence. Maybe it was voided? It is still pending. If it was voided, she should have been honest and have the common decency to let us know she made a mistake or give us the voided receipt so there wouldn't be any unpleasant surprises. (update on that later)

I'm an easy going guy but after you mess up that many times, back to some good ol' company training for you. Or another job field.

Update:
Spoke with the manager and he was very friendly and polite. Said charges were to be dropped from pending or should they not drop he would call the bank personally to have the problem fixed.

I usually never write reviews of restaurants unless I am moved to do so. My experience here was not pleasant and mistake after mistake compelled me. First off, I am a chef at a respectable restaurant in Tempe. I have also waited tables before at many restaurants. Our server completely forgot my drink order, I ignored that and just decided to forget about it. My cousin got an appetizer of mushrooms and other sauteed veggies that was pretty bland. What completely upset me is that our server brought out our sushi, teriyaki chicken and salads at the same time! So while I'm trying to enjoy my sushi my entree is getting cold and my salad was warm because it is plated next to the chicken. The albacore I got seemed to be seared on the edges, which isn't mentioned on menu, but it was very dry, not stored correctly. My philly roll was disgusting, I had to send it back The first time I had ever sent anything back. It just tasted not fresh and premade. My server didnt seem to care, not even a sorry, but a "that's weird our fish is fresh everyday", well it dont taste like it people. Also server had completely forgotten my soup, I had to remind and ask for it to go. My teriyaki chicken was dry and the sauce wasnt so good, the sauce I requested to make it spicy was pretty unappetizing(My server forgot that too, had to remind)
I think Kyoto Bowl has better Spicy Teriyaki Chicken and even Ra has better sushi(crazy but true)
I wish I could say y drink was good, but alas I never got it.
I wouldn't waste my time here if you want good japanese food and sushi. Go to Ichiban, Sapporo, Stingray, Sushi Brokers, etc.

Tomorrow night will be our ? seventh Kabuki experience. Just can't get enough of their rolls and sake. Awesome location , very attentive waiters. Hot spot Saturday nights. Looking forward to my next visit.

This is the worst sushi I have ever eaten. We got the Philli roll and the ratio of fish to cream cheese was so off. It had just a sliver of fish and was mostly filled with the cream cheese. The squid salad smelled like fish instead of being fresh. The crunchy tuna roll was flavorless. I would recommend that you spend your money somewhere else.

I went to Kabuki last night with some friends. At first everything was great. Ordered an appetizer which was wonderful. Drinks were pretty good too. Then it took 30 minutes to get our food which we weren't too terribly upset about. Except when it took an additional 15 to receive the order. Then they didn't bring out 3 rolls because they didn't punch them into the computer. Then two of those took 20 minutes and the third we gave up on. Worst service EVER! With the exception of the appetizer the food sucked!! They put things in the rolls that weren't supposed to be there, the fish was flavorless, and the portions were tiny for the price.

I work at a sushi restaurant and happened upon Kabuki by convenience and curiousity. This restaurant has the lowest grade sushi I have ever tried and the service was horrible. My friend doesn't eat fish and specifically told our waitress she wanted absolutely no fish in her udon noodles.. mysteriously a japanese fish "hot dog" somehow landed in her meal. She asked for a vegetable substitute, which was not included. It felt as if we were waiting around the entire time for service. I usually don't write restaurant reviews but I felt it necessary to share how horrible this restaurant is to everyone.. because it was that bad.

I have been there not once, twice, 3x's, four, but 5 times and have been throughly satisfied each and every time. Being from NY I have been waiting to find a restaurant with not good but great sushi. This place is tops. The service was impeccable. The only problem we had was them rushing us a bit on a crowded Sat night. Anyone who thinks the food is not top rate, is probably eating boxed rolls from Fry's.

All of you people are rediculous. I suggest the people that keep putting these postings up never go into the public ever again, i'd say dark alleys would be a better place for your kind.

This was our second time visiting and will never go back. First time was great. I guess because there where only about three tables total then. Thought It was great. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. Worst service ever expected OK SUSHI same food as any other Sushi bar in the Valley. It took about 2 hours for four sushi items and two salads including two drinks. We had to not only ask for water but also had to ask for our check after about 20 min after our last order. Then had to try and pay out tab about 20 min later... Crazy to me. Without the threats of CITY OF TEMPE POLICE OFFICERS COMM. K. HALE, DET. J. SMITH and DET. R. ANEZIQUIA telling me it would be best to leave and not see the movie or crimanal charges would happen and they would arrest me...
