Authentically Greek, fresh, delectable food fit for Gods at Esperia

by J C.

I have been going to Esperia since they opened and, after having recently acquired a beer and wine license, I will return more often for Bacchus worship and Grecian noshing. The owners and sons are a wonderfully hospitable and accommodating Greek family who will grill your panini or souvlaki right before your eyes and the long rows of artfully decorated salads, soups, entrees, side dishes, appetizers and homemade Greek pastries in the glass fronted hot and cold cases are a sensual, visual feast. The squash soup is absolutely scrumptious with just the right amount of seasoning. I happened upon it as the soup of the day and wished I could have purchased a quart for take out. The vegetable panini and soup special is eminently affordable, nutritious and filling. The Avgolemono (Chicken, Egg, Lemon) Soup is a traditional Greek favorite that rivals my Greek Auntie's; Esperia's rendition is more akin to a stew and is chock full of white chicken meat with a delicate lemon flavor. It's a perfect natural remedy for colds as well. For vegetarians, the Spinach Pie is served as a delicate triangle of filo encasing a moist, tasty spinach, feta and herb filling. With a free parking lot and side streets with 2 hour parking, why not enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner with wine from Kalamata at Esperia soon?
