Rosecliff

All the mansions in Newport are fantastic. Rosecliff was just one of my favorites because it was smaller than the others but it had the most amazing ballroom. They said the ballroom was used in the movie The Great Gatsby. A must visit along with all the other mansions.

It's easy to imagine oneself back in the Guilded Age when visiting Rosecliff. The mansion is incredible! The hallway alone is designed to make an entrance, being made of marble and featuring a grand sweetheart staircase. The ballroom is beautiful as well. The upstairs featured a clothing exhibit on the day I went and each room showcased clothing from a different decade the house was in use. The tour guides were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this mansion as a spot on a Newport tour.

Rosecliff is not as large as some of the other mansions but it is a jewel. The ballroom and the back "patio" have both been featured in movies. The ballroom is also available for rental for functions like proms and weddings. What a spectacular setting with the lawn sweeping down to the ocean.
