To the Owner of the Fat Cat:
I am sending this in the hopes that you will be aware of just how shamelessly we were treated in your restaurant last Sunday night, 5/18/2008,
We arrived around 6:30 pm for dinner, as it was the first time we all had come to try it out. The restaurant was packed, however we were seated
Right away. Very upbeat, happy atmosphere, and fairly loud, given that the seating is very close together and w/ the brick walls, an acoustical
Nightmare. However, this only added to the adventure of trying out a new restaurant and we fell into the atmosphere comfortably.
Joining my 3 sisters and myself, who are all ages 42-49, was my 73 yr old mother. After enjoying our meal ( which ranged from excellent to satisfactory),
The waiter pronounced we were not allowed to order another drink from the bar per orders from the owner, who was in the kitchen @ the time. It was all of 8:00 pm. We had ordered a drink prior to the meal, during the meal, and wanted to wrap up the night w/ the 3rd drink before heading home.
We are well aware of liabilities for restaurant owners as my sister manages another well known restaurant in Quincy, and my father is a retired Quincy police lieutenant.
Perhaps, the hostess, other waitresses, felt we were too, loud? We were enjoying ourselves, as we thought we had the freedom to. Maybe raising our voices to be heard over the din of other patrons, as well, given the tight atmosphere, but I can assure you one thing, certainly not drunk or anywhere close to it, which is why I have taken the time to send this email.
My sisters and I thought that it could possibly be a situation where the waiter wanted to move us as he may have wanted to fill the table or wanted to go home,
I dont know. At any rate, we thought you should know. And in the event, it was yourself who tends to get a little trigger happy w/ your assumptions I would
Invite you to explore the situation a little more thoroughly, perhaps stopping by the table to say hello yourself and asking what we thought of the meal and service,
Would have been nice, then you would be able to draw your own conclusions.
Suffice it to say it is most definitely the last time we patron your restaurant, and friends who mention the Fat Cat? Ill be happy to tell them how embarrassed
And belittled we were made to feel.
