I had my HAIR and MAKEUP done by JOY for a wedding - i basically showed her a picture of Reese Witherspoon and said i wanted my hair like that, parted to the side with soft curls. She gave me exactly what i wanted and more. I've never felt so glamorous in my life!! I was getting compliments on my hair all night!

She also does makeup! All i said was that i wanted a natural look - and she gave me a natural look with a bit of glam. i loved it!

I was also surprised that Joy openly gave me hair styling tips and suggestions on products that she thinks are great. Most stylists won't do that and will try to sell you on they're own products.

Shes patient, has a great personality, is able to give u what you want even if you don't really know what you want, and i am absolutely satified with her service. She's awesome!!

All my life since my teenage years, I have always had long hair. I did not cut it when Demi Moore's boy cut was all the rage. I did not cut it when long hair were deemed to be old fashioned. It's not that I did not want to be fashionable, but I have always been afraid that I'd look like a freak.

When my best friend, Melinda, cut her hair short, she pretty much raved about Alooks. I decided to give myself the chance and find out for myself.

I got a bob cut. I got it from Alooks. And OMG, I have been very satisfied with their service. They not only give you the look you want, they also teach you how to style your hair when you do not have time to blow dry, what shampoos to use and generally how to take care of your new look.

They really make going back something to look forward to.

I have been coming to see JOY for a long time now and have always been amazed at how much she really does care about making you look your very best. I know that I can always trust that she knows exactly what she is doing and she has never failed me. She is a natrual at doing what she does! You just know it when you speak with her and see what quality work she does. I always get my color, cut, and amazing natrual looking extensions from her. You have to go to her and you will know what I mean! she is really the greatest stylist I have gone to and I will continue to see for a very long time!

I was at the salon Saturday for a hair cut and color. You of course did a great job. But I left the salon with a bit of a worry in my head if i was ever gonna look that way again... that it was gonna be another time when hair looks good the day you cut it and its all bad from the next day when you don't have time or patience to style it... But I'm really HAPPY.. it looks great even after the natural waves kicked in... Thanks a lot ERIN.

For a long time I was cutting my own hair because I couldn't bring myself to pay someone else a butt load of money to do something that I just found, blah...I can ruin my own hair for free! ERIN at Alooks has changed all this for me!......
The salon is soooo conveniently close to my work that I often make my appointments during my lunch breaks; I always feel better about going back to work after being pampered and beautified. Erin is super sweet and always does an amazing job with my hair. I've basically told her I'm not afraid of anything, so she can cut off as much hair as she'd like and just have fun with it. I used to have really short hair, but I've been growing it out for the past couple of years; Erin has given me a style that gives me the funky, choppy edge I like, but still keeping some length without giving me a crazy mullet.

I have been searching for a good hair salon for the longest time and I finally found my soul mate hair stylest here. Everyone here is very friendly and nice. Nina does great job on my highlights. I get at least one complement on my hair every day. Nina knows exactly how I want my hair done and she knows exactly what style looks good on different faces. I used to dread going to salons because sometimes it takes hours to get highlights, but Alooks keep me entertained the whole time that I never get bored. I actually look forward to going in to get my hair done. I would totally recommend this place.

My stylist is on vacation, so when I called i told the receptionist that and told her I wanted someone who was a little like her. They set me up with NINA and boy am I glad they did!!! NINA is the best! I sat down and we just strat choppin it up like we had known eachother forever. I showed her what i wanted and she was very honest with me and told me it would be a process and that I couldn't just do it in one sitting. my vivit was about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I am still getting compliments!! Vivian is perfectionist and loves her work. I've been her client for about 4 years and have never been disappointed. She chooses the hair color and style that suites best for me and works with me. She is funny, her personality just flows constantly and you feel totally relaxed and welcomed. My hair's never looked sooo good. I got so much compliments through out the years. Thanks to Vivian! She is the best ever!

THE BEST!!! No kidding!! I had my first visit to Alooks this morning. JOY gave the best haircut of my life! She is such a sweetheart and so easy to talk to. And very entertaining...No one else will ever cut my hair again! I cannot believe how great it looks!!
First of all, everyone is so friendly and wonderful. Everyone is smiling and clearly happy to be there. The place is immaculate, bright and cheerful. The most amazing thing was that everyone in there had a style that looked perfect.
I have never been in such a clean salon. There are no chemical smells or weird stuff flying around. I can honestly say this was the cleanest and most friendly salon I have ever been to. You know that feeling when you walk into a strange place and everyone gives you the "once over?" Not here...You walk in and everyone smiles and says hello. You'll be offered a water and it will feel like you're visiting friends. I just loved it so much!! I wish you could see the haircut JOY gave me!! Its so great!! ERIN cut my mom hair this morning and her hair looked absolutely stunning. She knew just how to cut it to perfectly show off her face.
As I said, every haircut I saw was just gorgeous. Don't hesitate for minute to try ALOOKS. I would rather pay a few extra dollars and leave feeling like a million, wouldn't you? I wish I could give the 10 stars!! JOY, you are AMAZING!!! Thank you!!

I have tried stylists all over California, and have never been as consistently thrilled with anyone as much as Joy. She not only listens closely to what you want, but also will be honest with you about what will look good on you given your face shape, coloring and hair type. After over 20 years of having long hair, I decided I was ready for a big change, and last week Joy cut off more than 9 inches of hair. She gave me an amazing cut and style, and made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process. Everyone that leaves her styling chair looks like they just walked out of a fashion magazine. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting a fantastic cut, color and/or style!!

I visited Alooks Salon for the first time about two months ago. I had my color done with ERIN. My first impression of her was warm and friendly. She sat me down and asked me where i wanted to go with my hair. We discussed the options and she made her reccomendation. She had a very confident demenor and her contact was very direct and informative. She explained the pros and cons of our decision and i have been very happy with the results. I have very unruley hair and she recognized this and did not promise me the world. I was happy to hear her honestly and she definately overachieved my expectations. I am returning to the salon this week and i cant wait to see what she has in plan for me!

Anyone looking for a great hairstylist that will make your hair fantastic... look no further. I have worked in salons for the last 18 years in South Florida and have always gotten color/highlights...I have worked at some of the most exclusive and respected Salons and I must say that Joy has, by far, been the best stylist/colorist that I've ever met. I have medium brown hair that is colored/highlighted blonde. I have seen color client, after color client walk out of Joy's chair with AWESOME color (brunette, blonde, etc). Joy knows color and is at the top of her field!!
If you are frustrated with hairdressers that don't listen to what you want or are inconsistent with their work, then you've got to try Joy... you'll never want anyone else to touch your hair! They also carry a great product line, as well-pureology. The staff is always very polite and friendly, too.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND JOY to clients that are very particular about their hair and want exceptional quality. If you've had problems finding a colorist that can get your color "right".... Joy's your girl!! And her cuts are great, too!!
Since I've moved to California and Joy has been coloring/highlighting my hair, it's never looked better!!!

I don't know about you, but it's a total hard for me to find a good stylist, who's accommodating, flexible and willing to work with my OCD behaviors concerning my hair. That is why I love Erin, who's new to Alooks.

IMHO, she is the best! She is willing to come in on her days off, she calms me down when I spazz out with the sight of more ghastly gray hairs, and will cater to my every whim...well, almost any style i want. She gives great scalp massages and tells great stories. What more can I ask for in a stylist?
My ravings and rantings aside, Erin's on top of her game. She knows hair and coloring.

Joy has been doing my hair for about 1 year - she kicks major butt. She's taken my a-line bob as short or long as I like it, and she always makes the exact little changes I ask for. Every time I think of something fun to do with my color, she always takes it a step further, and it ALWAYS looks even better than I could have imagined. I get compliments on my hair from friends and total strangers for weeks after I see Joy. My husband also comes with me sometimes and she is able to fit him in between me which works out perfect! Him and I look hot after we leave the salon and then we normally go out to eat afterwards downtown. It is our little getaway and piece of heaven to get spoiled by Joy.

I went to this salon for the first time for my wedding hair and make up and was so pleased with the way everything turned out. I was so nervous as it was and my stylist Joy helped me to calm down and relax! I really trusted her to do whatever she thought looked good and it was such a relief to not have to figure out what looked best on me. It couldn't have went better! my hair was so elegant and my make up was picture perfect. Thank you so much Joy for making my special day that much easier for me and making me look beautiful, I will definatly be back to see her again. If you want to learn how to do your make up Joy is great at showing you what looks good on you, she knows her stuff!

I can't tell you how hard it was for me when I first moved here to find someone who I can trust my hair to! Now Iv'e been with Joynani for a little over a year now and I can truly say she is the best! She is very well educated in color and cuts and knows what I want and listens to me every time I see her. She really takes her time with me and I love her conversation as well. I dance for a proffesional team and I get my hair styled before games by this guy who was a top educator and he just raves about my haircolor and cut everytime! I tell him "yep that's why she is my girl!" If you really want to look your best then you know who to try hands down Joynani is a keeper!

love, love, LOVE Alooks! JOY brings my hair to life every time I visit her. Also, every and each time when Joy re-touches (colors) my roots I am amazed how she keeps the coloring consistent with no two tone (root vs. the end) color. I also had the best highlights...its perfect ...and I love how my hair does not feel dried out as I have experienced with other professional salons. JOY knows her clients, she knows what looks good on them, and she knows how to take care of them. JOY is extremely versatile and, on occasion, she has even done hair extensions on me which look "amazing" as stated by my husband and friends. I've noticed a lot more attention from other people after JOY does my hair and she provides a comfortable salon setting which is warm and inviting...and get this...she will even serve you beverages which make you relax...hint..hint. JOY is the best stylist in San Jose for hair hands down.

My regular nail salon in Santa Cruz was closed temporarily, so I made an appointment with Hanh at Alooks based on the salon reviews here. I was really happy! Hanh took more time with my nails than did my usual technician in Santa Cruz, and she did a much better job. Normally, my acrylics will begin to separate around the edges after the first several days. But that did not happen when Hahn worked on them. In fact, more than a week later, they still look great. And the gel coating was perfectly smooth, with no "fuzz" or bumps or irregularities. She took a lot of time to get the edges perfect, to match the nail lengths, to clean up my cuticles, and to make a very thin but strong nail. (My previous technician made very thick nails that did not hold up as well.)

Hanh takes more time, and she charges a few dollars more than my previous salon, but the difference is well worth it for nails that continue to look great.

The salon is also convenient to anyone working downtown, so you can take a long lunch to get your nails done. Nearby restaurants and cafes are great for grabbing take-out on the way back to work. If you park in the city garage next door, it will cost about $10, so you might try parking on the street at the meters (a few are on Post Street), or you can walk because it's close to Market St, Santa Clara, etc.

I am soo happy everytime JOY cuts my hair, she does such a good job! She makes me feel better and better about myself, and I look more than 10 years younger now! Iv'e worked at a lot of spas and I am very serious about How stylists cut my hair. I don't care how much I pay for a haircut I just want it to look good and for it to change my character and make me feel better when I leave. I have lived everywhere up and down california and have found good hair stylists But JOY is differen't! She can picture what style and color will look good on you and make it happen! She is the best hair stylist you can meet. She is soo nice and proffesional, and is very good at what she does!!!

I've been going to the same stylist for over 9 years and needed a change . I looked towards Yelp and found ALOOKS. I went during my luch and haved a consultation with KITTY. She asked several questions so she would get to know you/your style. And since Alooks got great reviews I didn't think Kitty would screw up on my hair. Well finally before Thanksgiving get my hair done ( color, High-cut). I went back to work and people noticed. I NEVER received so many compliments on my hair before.
If you're looking around in the area for a new stylist or to try something different, don't hesitate on call Alooks.

I happened to drive by the salon an saw their sing, called, got an appoinment right away with KITTY and the rest was history! My hair looks amazing now!. I am so happy with this salon. My sis and I have been going to Vivian for almost five year. Vivian is delicate to her work. Vivian is the very BEST in the trade when it comes to professional straightening! We had never tried anything like this before and all we can say is that this has totally and completely changed our life! We are no longer a "slave" to our hairs. Now getting ready for our busy day is a snap and our hair always looks and feels great with very little maintenance I might add! Rainy weather, humid weather now mean nothing to me or my sis as my hair still looks great no matter what kind of weather we're having! I've been a faithful client of Vivian since she first straightened my hair years ago and see her every 9 months when it's time for my touch up. She always well prepared . She is very sincere hairstylist.

I have been looking for a hair stylist for years and never found one I stuck to. I have this awesome stylist in New York and no one ever compare to her. This week my doughter need a haircut for a special time. I found Alooks on yelp. My doughter LOVED!! Her stylist was friendly, and very fun to talk to . My doughter's hair looks great. She loved the products used on her hair which smelled so pretty. The salon it self is very upscale. Very happy whit the experience. I think we finally found a salon we can stick with. I would recommend Alooks to anyone.

I found this salon on Cityseach and was delighted to find I could get an appoiment in the same week.The salon is beautifully kept. roomy and clean, an the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Went I told my stilist what I wanted and how I wanted it to look... she actually listened, she gave me a complete breakdown of the cut and style before. She gave me literally the best haircut of my life, and not only that, she showed me how to maintain it between cuts. she is very educational and hands-on, opinionated and encouranging. I came to Alooks Salon because I have heard about it from several of my co-workers, and I checked out the reviews and was impressed. I thought that I might give it a try, I have been looking for a stylist for a while that knows what they are doing and actually listens and doesn't just do what they want. I found that at Alooks. My stylist Joynani was very helpful in helping me find what I was looking for and delivered exactly what I wanted beyond my expectations. I am so pleased to find her and this lovely salon. I have not always been the type to get my hair and nails done all the time. It has been a while since I have trusted anyone to touch my hair. My sister was my stylist for years before I moved out here and of course she did a wonderful job on me. I felt comfortable telling her what I wanted without feeling judged like I have from other stylist. I've tried several other salons in the area that were over priced and full of staff that acted like they were in hollywood, with too much attitude. I found my diamond in the ruff at Alooks Salon! I was walking and seen the sign and thought I might give it a try. The street the salon is on is so quaint and really charming. I walked in and asked for a total makeover. I got color, highlights,and a cut and walked out feeling better than I have in years. I have a new look and have a new stylist, thanks Joy.

Alooks is definitely a uspcale nice salon. Before I did went to uspcales salon on los gatos ( where you definitely get the uspcale attitude).. At ALOOKS definitely get the nice attitude, prices are fairly and are not frequent increases like others salons. My stylist, is very talented, creative and fun. She works with you, and I have had so many compliments on my hair. Overall it was an awesome experience.

Here at Alooks my stylist suggested a new look for me including a new color and I admit that this is the first time in 8 years that I absolutely LOVE my hair!. The compliments are endless too! If you haven't tried ALOOKS you're missing out. The atmosphere is fabulous and the staff is great. Whit my stylist we spent a great deal of time looking at hair colors and photos together and talking about different options. Ultimately, I could tell she was confident she knew what she wanted to do and I told her to go for it. It came out perfect!!. When I went to work the next day co-workers asked me for the name of my stylist! She has a great eye for style and color. Thank you Alooks

It was nice and comfortable. They offered me a seat and small menu of beverages to choose from. The owner had me fill out a customer card and told me how would be servicing me today. Excellent communication. My first time cut there I wanted them to do was dramatically different from my usual style so I was apprehensive at first, but when I sow the final product I had never felt so comfortable in my own hair. They knew exactly what looked best an shaped and styled it to perfection. I HIGHLY recommend this place because of the environment, courteousy, professionalism, expertise plus it's ran very well by a great owner on staff.

Best salon I have been to. Staff are friendly and cheer and do awesome work with my hair! The salon decor is amazing and welcoming. The service I receive is superb. I have been a customer of alooks salon for months now. I have been going to Joy for my color and cuts and really enjoy not only her work but also her willingness to please. I wanted to come on here and display my appreciation for the great service that I always receive and came across a very false comment about the salon staff. I just want to say that who ever posted that could not be anymore false about the staff and the quality of work they provide. Don't be fooled from the rude and totally false comment. Obviously the only false comment posted on here! I too believe some people have deeper problems and aren't happy with themselves so they have nothing better to do than be negative with everything. Horrific. I went in just for a trim (specifying that I'm going to be in a wedding next week and didn't want any changes) and she changes the style completely, and not for the better. I opened my eyes to find thick, blunt cut bangs where there used to be a sideswept short bob. When I complained, her work got increasingly slapdash, missing spots and cutting way to short in others. I couldn't wait to get out of the chair and get someone else to do damage control.

I found Alooks Salon, on city search and decided to try it out based on the great reviews. Everyone how works there is so nice and welcoming- no pretentious at all. When you walking, they'll offer you a drink ( they have a menu like coffe, tea, wine,juice, and it's all free). When I walked in the last time with that completely stressed, Laura look in my ayes, and said " You look stressed". Do you need a glass of wine?" it could not have been a more perfect greeting. After half a glass of red wine I was a new person. I have had my hair cut by 2 different stylist there. Normally that would scare me- I tend to stick to what and how I know. But I have loved it every time, So I have gotten far more comfortable with having my hair cut by whoever is available. They overall experince was what I would expect from a High-end salon.. and not as stressful as I had expect. I Highly recommend the shop to anyone...

I found the best in San Jose,Ca. Alooks is already know as one of the best in the Bay Area, but I think Alooks is the Best in California. I lived in LA before and paid $275.00 for color and haircut, today, I found Alooks and it was much better than my famous celed stylist in LA, you better see them before they becames real celed. I was so impresse with the quality of work and staff that I had to write a review!. Simple I Highly recommend Alooks Salon! They work as a team, and there was not an ounce of snobby behavier. I was very well taken care of ! I actually had 3 strangers stop me this week and compliment my hair. Since I have been in the Bay Area, I have 6 different threaders. Alooks Salon threader by far is the best!!. THE STAFF WAS KIND AND MADE ME FEEL REALLY CONFORTABLE. My stylist was also able to correct a very poor eyebrow waxing job I had done at another salon.I had never had a stylist work this kind of magic on me, on like a said I've had a lot of experience with many different stylist . HIGHLY recommend Alooks service to anyone! I will be back for my next appointment. Thank you for being so great.

The day I went to the salon I was about ready to give up and just cut off all of my hair. Joy was awesome. Not only did she give me fabulous color she cut my hair better than anyone has ever done in the past. I'II continue to make the drive from Mountain View to Downtown San Jose,just to see her! In addition, the staff and other Stylists create a welcome environment.

Super color, super haircut. From the moment I walked into the salon until I left I was impressed. The salon is UPSCALE, but not intimidating. ALL of the people with whom I interacte were professional and friendly and during all the time I was at the salon, I observed that the employees were working cooperatively as a team to create something special. The have succeded! They seem to care about what they do and how they do it-no matter their little or task. This is unusual. The stylist did an excellent job with my color and cut. The color is now more natural, the cut more stylish.It was intriguing to watch her choose, weigh and mix the color components-nearby, in the open, at what is best described as a "the color bar". I felt like a client in a restourant with an "open kitchen". Fascinating! Best wishes, see you soon!!

Alooks is one at the most professionals and friendly salons in ALL San Jose. I was given a gift certificate to Alooks for Valentine's Day by my husband. I started with a color and deep conditioner from Joynani. LADIES, you know how hard it is to find a GOOD Hairstylist!!!! I was so relieve to find a new salon!!! and my make up was amazing!!!. These people are true artists in their fields. My haircut with highlights gave me a new look with pazzazz!!! My husband agrees and feel equally " at home" in Alooks Salon. The extra amenities include free delicious coffe, wine or juice,plus impeccably clean trough out. Just walk in the door and they have you!.

I read the reviews and decide to try it. I had my hair done with highlights and color done by Joynani. She is a great hair stylist because of her dedication to work with you to get the right color you want and getting it done. Joy patience shines trough and her ablility to make you feel comfortable is what makes you feel at ease knows what she is doing.Joy takes every effort to make sure you are satisfied with your hair no matter what is you're not happy, She is always willing to suggest something else. What can I say about ALOOKS SALON?? Highly professional, very courteous, innovative environment, skillful staff an a very overall experience every time I go in there. I've never gotten more compliments on my haircut and color before going to ALOOKS. Joynani gives a really great neck and scalp massage that really invigorates the entire experience. The secret is out.... Alooks Salon is the best in San Jose. There's an obvious reason all my friends go there and never heard a single complaint, only compliments! I won't go anywhere else!!

I recently moved to San Jose from Chicago and I've been trying to find a salon that delivers fantastic color and cut at a reasonable price, and I finally found a Alooks Salon, I was so very impressed and surprised by the staff are friendly and clearly masters of their craft. I walked out with a fabulous color/cut that is ready to wear today and totally reproduce-able on my own. While the salon is very CHIC and NICE to look at, the stylists are NOT ARROGAN and or PRETENTIONS. I will be going back!!!!

Pros: Atmostphere, talent.

I am so happy I found Alooks Salon. I don't know how I got so lucky.I googled for a nearby salon and Alooks came up, so I decided to give it a try. The first time I met Jonani knowledge as a stylist allowed me to trust her and tell her to "do whatever" because I really valved her suggestions. My hair turned out great and Joynani really does care about me and how I look. It's always fun to go to her. try it, Joynani is the BEST. I am sure you will enjoy her as much as I did!!!.

I had an excellent experience at Alooks salon. I'm so glad i finally find a hairdresser who can work with curly hair. In the past i had bad experiences. I will ask to cut my hair two inches only and my ex hair dresser cut my hair very short .I cry at the salon, and every time i fix my hair to go to work . I didn't feel like going to work because of my short hair. I just couldn't do anything with my hair. At Alooks salon Dennis did a fabulous job with my hair. He colored, highlighted, cut , and styled my hair. I just love it . I couldn't ask for more. Dennis you are the best. He is very professional and have lots of years of experience in the is industry. He knows what products to recommend. I highly recommend Dennis and the other staff members at the salon. They all are very professional and friendly . They always go above and beyond for there customers.
