Amor Cubano

★★★★☆
A solid setting that evokes Cuba circa the 1950's mixes perfectly with the cuisine.

I went here for the first time the other night The food was execeptional, especially the paella. I had the paella and my husband had the ropa vieja, both out of this world! What really made our night was the service, all the staff took care of us and made us feel at home. definately be back.

I couldn't have picked a better restaurant to go to for my out of town dining. I've never had Cuban food but it was small and intimate and had the authenticity any cultural restaurant should. The waitress knew each dish very well and was able to make great food suggestions. I would recommend anyone to go to this restaurant for good food, drinks, and music because they will not be disappointed. Oh did I say wonderful Mojitos.

The wait staff are very friendly and are quick to please. I will definitely go again, and I recommend this place to anyone who wants good Cuban food.

When I go to a restaurant I usually don't come home and write a review but in this case I felt that it was totally worth my free time, which trust me, is not very abundant,
I loved the place, it is cozy, romantic and fun at the same time and the food was simply delicious and reminded me of home. I do not drink liquor but I enjoied my wine, they have a very good seletcion. My wife likes sweet drinks so she tried the sangria and loved it. We had Camarones al ajillo, the only problem with that dish is that it is soo good you could end up eating only that and missing the rest of the menu!
I also recommend the Pargo Frito. I am thinking of taking my wife again for Valentine's Day.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out a few weeks ago. We were extremely happy with the food and service. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. We were completely silent at our first meal there because we were enjoying the food so much! I don't know Cuban food that well but I know a great meal. The Lechon Asado and the Barbacoa chicken are great and so are the empanadas. We enjoyed our time there we decided to go there for new years. Food was great, fun atmosphere and good company! The mojitos are fantastic too!

Having been to Versaille in Little Havana, Miami, I didn't think a New York Cuban could ever be up to snuff with their mojitos, black beans, and cafe con leche. Amore Cubano is officially the best Cuban (real Cuban, not trendy fusion) in the city. The service was friendly and outstanding. Everything from a simple soup and cabbage salad to Vaca Frita and staple pork dishes was out-of-this-world. We even got comp dessert: flan and a bread pudding, also amazing. The cafe con leche was superb. I'm rarely left gushing after a meal, but I really didn't know what to say to our smiling server after heaping praise for about an hour. Good enough to come for lunch and stay for dinner.

I went there last night and found it to be rather disappointing. I was served a coca cola that was flat fizz and had no syrup and was told that it is not from a can but from the fountain and that is the way it tastes. I should have left right then but wanted to be fair. Here is the zinger. The food is way over priced. A third cup of soup is not worth Five dollars. The two empanadas are not worth Eight dollars. Add two dollars and make them yourself and at least make a dozen. Or better yet, you can go to the good chuchifrito joint at the other corner-110th St.. The Pepito is not worth the Eleven dollars. By now you should know I won't be back nor will I recommend to anyone.

The staff is very nice and friendly and make you feel very welcome, but I was not impressed with the Mojitos or the food . My food was very salted and the mojito was super strong. Besides that , the place was overcrowded and the waiting was too long. It is not a restaurant that I would go back to.

What I love about this place, besides the "take-you-back-to-chilhood" yummy food, the excellent mojitos and the extremely friendy staff, is the fact that I can have the feel of Cuba right here in New York. The live music, the dancing, the relaxed atmosphere. I forget that I am in the city.
Trust me try it out, you won't regret it.
Buen Provecho! and Salud!

This place is jumping on Saturday night with the live band and dancing. The food is delicious and the service was very good. A bit crowded, but overall a great experience.

This is second time to this restaurant in my old 'hood and it was fantastic. This time I went there to celebrate my Mom's birthday with my daughter and the staff treated her so nicely and with so much affection that it brought tears to her eyes; Mom turned 88 years young! The food was very good, well balanced, not salty like some spanish foods can be, very well prepared and served. The wait staff are great, they welcome you like a family member and are very helpful. The place is well decorated and clean. A keeper in El Barrio; well done.

I liked Amor Cubano, and I love the neighborhood so I am happy to see a new restaurant here. Loved picking on the appetizers, they were traditional with a modern flair. Love the decor, cute little spot. Arooz con Pollo didnt have much flavor but everything else great!

I frequent Amor Cubano often because it offers delicious food, fantastic music and an ambiance that makes you feel right at home. So much so that you can dance while you wait for desert. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your visit.
The bartender Jorge makes some yummy mojitos that make you keep coming back for more.
You can have a lovely dinner for one, two or a group and have a great time - you will not be disappointed.

I went to this place this past weekend for a friend's birthday and had the best fish I have had in a while, the Pargo Camaguey. There was a live band playing, the waitstaff was pleasant and dancing around the restaurant, and the place had a really nice neighborhood feel. I was driving, so I didn't try the drinks, but everyone who tried the mojitos said they were amazing. Also, our party of about 15 people was there for about 4 hours, and we were not rushed out of the restaurant or hurried along. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were large. I will be back!

Cons: Looks like it has the potential to get very crowded on a busy night, but I haven't experienced this yet.
