The food at The Flying Biscuit is different, and very delicious. But, the staff is HORRIBLE. I keep going back because the food is so good, but I wonder why after I get in there. The wait staff are slow, not courteous, and frankly dont care.

The Flying Biscuit Cafe is a great place to go if you are looking for something a little different. My husband and I like to try new places and this one was great. We split a plate of food and had plenty to eat. Their dessert was excellent too.

If you like the friendly cafe atmosphere but with a more cutting edge menu, this is the place for you. Very nice waitstaff. They helped me to decide what to order because I was having trouble choosing from the interesting menu. Food was excellent. And even during a busy lunchtime they were prompt. Value for the money is right on.

The food here is really good. The place is VERY crowded, with the tables too close together. There is absolutely no where to wait if there are no tables available. Won't go back.

I like it there despite how close the tables are...The food is really yummy and supposed to be on the healthy side! The wait can be pretty long on weekends but I've always enjoyed the food there and have no complaints!

We heard great things about this place so we waited in the cold for a table that was pretty much on top of all the other tables. The food was bland.. especially the biscuits which we weren't expecting seeing as the name was "The Flying Biscuit!". Won't ever go back.

The biscuits were like hockey pucks and the turkey bacon was awful! I figured I'd give it a second try, and again, the same caliber food. Maybe they had 2 off days??

This restaurant gets great local food reviews all the time. It is conveniently located in Ballantyne. Large variety of items on the menu. Everything is freshly prepared. Yummy!

I'm southerner, 42 years in North Carolina to be exact. It's fair to say I've tasted my share of grits. So as an expert I can tell you I've never had grits like these. They are creamy and buttery. I'm sure there is no Cholesterol.... HAhaha Enjoy!

Cons: a little out of my way

I love this place. Great menu, excellent food and will customize how you like. The quality of the food is the best. Service is top notch too and very kid friendly. I would eat there every morning if I could. My wife, toddler and I are there at least once a week.

I had heard great things about the flying biscuit from friends so my friend and I decided to try it for lunch. He had the worst tasting omelet I have ever tried. The biscuits were subpar. I had a fried chicken with mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was horrible...and what kind of place doesn't have ranch dressing when they serve salads and friend chicken?! Never ever again will we be going there!

The flying biscuit has great food. I love the french toast and grits. The staff usually isn't very friendly and the place is always crowded. The food makes up for it though!

I've been a fan of The Flying Biscuit since my college road trips to Atlanta. Now that they're in Charlotte, I sometimes find myself there multiple times a week.

The space is small, but it reflects the small cafe atmosphere of it's roots. The service has always been great, though one busy lunch hour I wished I'd chosen a different time to come. (But hey, a 9 out of 10 record is great!) Sometimes I just sit at the bar, and that tends to provide faster and less cozy seating for those who want a little more space.

The food is delicious. I love the breakfast items. Their menu seems to exude healthiness. Even the pasta, sausage, & eggs omelet, bound to be the fattiest, seems lighter than your typical diner fare. There are many vegetarian items available also and I love them too! The tofu n' tater salad is delish! They also have a shrimp and grits dish that is excellent. It's more italian than southern with the obvious presence of basil in the tomato sauce. However, its got great flavor and greatly compliments their delicious creamy grits.

I admit, visiting so often has lent itself to my boredom with the biscuits themselves. I'm beyond partial to my grandmother's version instead. But that doesn't stop me from continuing to visit. Sometimes I indulge in a cappuccino and for a place that's not known for it's coffee, they do pretty well.

Now, quit reading and go see for yourself!

I find it hard to believe someone hated this place! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however.

The service I had the past few times I've been hasn't been stellar, but I wouldn't classify it as terrible.

The food, on the other hand, is unbelievable. I especially love the grits and French Toast. You would think the biscuits were great, but they are a little hard for my liking. I still enjoyed the biscuits, but expected better, seeing that the name of the establishment is "Flying Biscuit".

Only thing that annoys me is how the establishment is set up. With the popularity of this place, you would think it would have more seating available. We went for lunch on a random weekday at 11:15, and still had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Once the weather warms up, the outdoor seating will help, but it's very crowded when the weather is poor.

Regardless ... I would go back a thousand times!

We just got back from our second visit to this restaurant. I should say a 2nd chance. The staff was extremely unpleasant on both visits and the service is just terrible. The employees should stay home if they don't want to work and the owner should do a better job of hiring employees and monitoring his/her establishment. Just such a disapointment. Not a comfortable place, staff is very undesirable and the food is not all that. Not a recommended especially if you are looking for a nice relaxing meal with family.

I absolutely loved The Flying Biscuit!!!! Food was great, nice wine/beer list, fabulous atmosphere, and family friendly, you have to try it. I had the fried green tomatoe BLT, and was pleasantly surprised by the flavors, turkey bacon and goat cheese are a great combination. The healthy options are exciting, turkey bacon and fresh organic ingredients, go now!!!

Fun, High Energy, Great Food and True Customer Service. The Flying Biscuit Cafe has it all. Be ready for a burst to all of your senses! HEARING- the place hums like a well tuned engine. Especially on Saturdays and Sundays with all the people moving around in this tight cozy space with good music in the background. Servers greeting and selling, bus boys clearing tables, families enjoying the food and each other all mold into the hum. SIGHT- there is not one dull thing to look at in this place. Be ready for a sight overload with all the fun things to check out on the walls and it doesn't stop there. Look up and check out the ceiling tiles. It is always partly cloudy with the giant puffy clouds painted behind the bar area. TASTE- The food is really good. Breakfast Rocks!! Tried almost everything on the breakfast menu and haven't experienced a bad thing. The Grits are the best. The other items like the 3B Chicken Sandwhich, Salmon Salad and Oven Fried Chicken with mac and cheese are great lunch or dinner choices. SMELL- Daily made biscuits from scratch constantly coming out of the oven because one is served with every meal keeps the nose busy. TOUCH- Everything about this place touches you in a way that makes you want to come back and be a part of the funky fun dinning experience! Great customer service, happy people and flavorful food keeps me coming back. Oh yeah I like the healthy options as well -Turkey Bacon, Chicken Sausage, Tofu Scramble. Thanks for Coming to Charlotte.
