Kouzan Japanese Restaurant

Great neighborhood sushi spot. There's so many on the UWS but this is by far the best spot I've eaten at. It definitely beats out Miyako or Miyaki on 91st.

The decor is upscale enough to make you feel that your dining a bit special that night. It's not grand but it's not blah.

My rule of thumb to rate Japanese restaurants is the Miso Soup. It's simple yet can be very complicated. If I slurp bad miso soup, I can expect that the care they didn't take to make a basic soup is not there in their sushi or main dishes.

Obviously since I've given a 5 star rating, this place had a decent miso soup. It definitely passed muster and my bento box left me feeling fulfilled and satisfied, even the tempura sauce was good, it wasn't watery or too salty. Really, it's the simple things that please me.

If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be a fixture. That says something.

This place is owned by the owners of nearby Yuki Sushi. It's a great addition to a fairly sushi-saturated neighborhood. The rolls I've had are very fresh and reasonably priced. The service at the restaurant is very friendly and gracious, and their delivery is prompt. I think they have free wifi at the restaurant, too. It seems like a difficult location on the corner there -- here's hoping they make it!

What a wonderful new Restaurant with a top notch Sushi chef and customer service!
The drink menu is quite extensive and the wine list perfectly selective and reasonably priced. We started out with an amazing Seaweed Salad followed by the best and super fresh Sashimi I've ever tasted. We then had some specialty rolls like "Moon River roll" ...I've truly never tasted such a lovely combo of flavors. Since we mentioned "City search" the Chef made us a small appetizer of his imported "kobe beef" with a delightful and very light sauce. The portions were super generous and our waiter "Max" very attentive. Everything is prepared with care and love. My husband and I can't wait to go back...!!!!! !!!

A friend recommended this restaurant to me. The food was great. It is inexpensive and quiet. The atmosphere is very intimate. The staff was kind and made sure that we were satisfied. The tempura and the dragon maitai is highly recommended

This place just opened and it's great. Really good food, fresh, good variety, great service and nice and quite. I never write reviews but I want this place to get business and to stay open. Best sushi in the area.
