Very pleased with service at Dave's ultimate automotive. My car had been running with a pulsing, shaking feel for some time and Ive had other shops recommend fixing the transmission or starter. J.R. from DUA informed that I had a worn out hose that was causing to much air to be pulled in relative to fuel causing this now drastic pulsation. Really appreciated the detailed information, and now my car runs better than it has in a long time. I will definitely return to Daves for any future car problems.

I have been to Dave's for a few different reasons over the past year or so. I recommend it to anyone who wants service on their vehicle from real people who will talk to you straight and get you back in your car asap. The free pick-up service is extremely helpful! You can get just about anything you need for your car done at Dave's Automotive. I highly recommend the place!

Everyone is really friendly, I could use the internet while I waited or I could have taken a shuttle home. They simply explained to me what they found in my car. My friend recommended this place to me and I recommend Dave's Auto to everyone else!!!!

I was referred to Dave's by a friend when my Mustang broke down. JR called a wrecker service for me and contacted me as soon as they received my car. I had a quote a few hours later and by the end of the following business day my car was ready to go at an excellent price! Unfortunately, I had a DIFFERENT problem the very next morning, leaving me stranded on the highway during morning rush hour. Michelle was already in the office, called a tow truck AND had Andrew (store mgr) pick me up and take me to work. Once the car was done - SAME DAY - JR brought my car to ME at work on the other end of town since I had no way to get to the shop and also to put my mind at ease that there would be no further problems. On the way JR was concerned with possible over heating and took it to the North Austin location to check it out. After he filled my coolant, he picked me up. Michelle and JR even stayed LATE to inspect my car since it was out of date. When it came time to pay, the charge was not only cheap, but cheaper than what they had originally quoted me. They gave me a card for roadside service, should I ever need a tow truck, and a few other unexpected perks! I must say, through all of my concerns, they were very friendly, professional and informative!! I would DEFINITELY recommend these guys and they now have my car service for life - or as long as I am in the Austin area!

A BIG THANKS to JR, Michelle and Andrew for everything!!! Y'all are AWESOME!!!!

I brought my sister's car in for repairs on a Friday, not knowing how popular this place was. Still, they were able to fit me in without an appointment and had an oil change, inspection, brake fluid flush and transmission fluid flush done in a few hours. They also shuttled me back to my home, since they weren't sure when they would be able to do the work and didn't want me to have to wait at the shop. I told my sister about the excellent service. She plans to go to them for car care from now on-- I certainly will be bringing my own car here in the future. Highly recommended.

I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner Limited with 243,289 Miles on it...yah that's right baby...243K JDM miles. I've done most of the work on the 4Runner but this time I don't have the proper equipment to work on it. Took my SUV for the 1st time to this shop after reading all the reviews and statement from everyone else so I figured I couldn't go wrong. As I suspected to what was wrong with my 4Runner, Andrew the Manager and his teamed diagnosed the same thing. They fixed what I needed to get fixed and what I wanted to get fixed. Didn't get that pressure in getting other things done unlike some other shops (Stealership) :) Jimmy the driver...thank's for shuttling me back and forth to my crib man.

Last Week I took my car (which was recently purchased) in to Dave Automotive, I knew my car needed a few things, OIl Change, Tune up etc... They checked over my car and printed out a list of things that it needs and may need in the future, The broke everything down, which was recommended asap and what could wait so I did not have to be out of pocket 1,200 immediately , Which I was really surprised since I have always took my car into Lambs Goodyear and they print out a list and make me feel as if that all needed to be done right away or it was going to break down. I took my car in the morning and just expected to get an oil change real quick and go back for the rest on a later date cause I needed my car, A nice gentleman there I think his name was Jr Let me know that they offer a free shuttle service to my job and that he would pick me up so they can get to my car that day, Which was EXTREMELY NICE, Since Firestone or Goodyear never offered me that....

Overall I had a really nice experience expecially since I am a women and always feel like mechanics are gipping me, I did not feel that there!!"

I have used Daves Ultimate Automotive (SOCO) for both of our vehicles over the past year and I will follow this company to the ends of earth to make sure I get the Best service in town. The service you receive at Dave's is outstanding and you feel like apart of the family from the minute you walk in. We have been missing this type of service over the years, but Dave's has brought it back. I will recomend Dave's to all and anyone who ask me if I know of a trusted place to get a car worked on. They have never let me down and followed through with all of my request and needs. They go out of their way to help in anyway they can. 5 stars plus 5 more stars to the Best Auto Shop in Town.

So you know that joke where the blonde goes into the Auto shop and says that she needs the 710 part and the mechanics look at her like she's crazy till they have her point to the part and its actually the OIL cap. Yeah....well that's me! =)
I know absolutely nothing about cars.
My eyes start to glaze over at the invoices and conversations. At Dave's Automotive they take care of you and explain all the car jargon. They are straight to the point and honest about exactly what you need to make sure your car is up to par. They don't push you if you just want an oil change and that's it. Like other places that I've been to do.
Michelle, JR, and Andrew are the best. They are very nice and welcoming. Even to the car dummies like myself.
I definitely recommend them to all if you want fast work, good customer service, and good prices.

This review started out as a one-star complaint regarding an experience I had at Dave's Ultimate Automotive, and due to EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE and follow up has now changed to a wholehearted five-star compliment. I felt preventative maintenance could have been performed by the mechanic during one of my visits to avoid a costly brake repair that had to be undertaken shortly thereafter. Well let me tell you, without my even making a formal complaint, Dave the owner (who must have read my online negative review) sent me a very thoughtful and lengthy letter of apology that included a full refund for the work that was performed on the second avoidable visit. Now of course, there is no way to prove that the repairs could have been avoided, but Dave had the same feeling about the situation that I did, and took care of me VERY WELL as a result. I cannot emphasize enough just how genuine Dave's commitment to customer service and quality repairs are....The words in his letter could not have been written otherwise. He truly stands up for the reputation of the business which bears his name. Like I said, this letter from Dave was unsolicited, unexpected and I was astounded when I received it -- I have never had such an experience quite frankly in my 18 years of car ownership. I thought this kind of pride in one's work and reputation died in the 1950's! Not only will I be back to Dave's Ultimate Automotive, I will be back with the confidence that I am patronizing good people, and getting quality parts and repair work performed. Dave, thank you thank you and thank you again. You will be seeing me again... soon.

This has been my second experience at Dave's. I come back because I know the quality and level of service that I get cannot be surpassed. Everyone dreads going to a mechanic, but I actually don't mind it. You get a shuttle to work and a ride back. Everyone I've dealt with deserves a gold star! Mainly Michelle, J.R. and Jimmy. My Volvo and my wallet love these guys.

Came by for a radiator change and it was done quickly and for a reasonable price. Further, as a courtesy to me, they fixed my tire which had a nail in it free of charge. Very honest and thorough mechanics.

I had a great experience from the moment I called Dave?s automotive. They were very knowledgeable and gave me a brief idea of what they thought the problem might be. They recommended coming to the shop for an analysis and a diagnosis of the problem. The staff was courteous and friendly and got to work on the problem right away. The restrooms and waiting area were very neat and clean. I will definitely come back again.

So my husband and I were on our way to Dallas last night when my car did no start. We called this place first thing in the morning and they were happy to see us! They gave us a number to a cheap tow truck place. Got here in good time and they saw us extremely promptly. They were very generous and they show you everything they want to work on and what needs to be done. They do not just tell you word of mouth without showing you. They are great and very nice people! Great environment!

I brought my car in for a grindy noise that only happens when i use the brakes (but not always). I talk to Andrew and he checked my car out and found the brake pins were sticking on the left sfront side of my car. So he said all that was needed was to lube the pins and it would fix the problem. He even should me what has happening and why. They didn't try to screw me with a bunch of crap they were honest about it. From now on only daves ultimate will be working on my car.

I brought my car in to Daves a while ago because of a persistent clunking sound when turning. The technician diagnosed the problem as worn tie rods, which was a reasonable diagnosis. They replaced the tie rods and I picked up my car. After driving if for a while I realized the clunking sound was still present. I eventually brought my car back to Daves and they were very accommodating. I did a test drive with the technician and reproduced the problem for him. He was then able to identify the problem and fix it, and I was not charged for the second repair. They even threw in a free oil change. The staff was extraordinarily accommodating and very focused on customer service.
There are plenty of shady auto-repair places where they charge you for services you dont need but Daves is definitely not one of them. They go out of their way to make sure you are completely satisfied with your experience and they are honest.

So cars and I have a love- hate relationship. I love to get from point a to point b but cars hate me for doing so, therefore, I have spent alot of hours at car repair shops cursing silently because it's just not in the stars to have a car that works. Anyways, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the experience I had at Dave's Ultimate Automotive. It was a kinda major repair and everyone was so great. They have a shuttle service so they will give you a ride and pick you up and the time i spent at the shop was so welcoming and comfortable. They have a computer with internet access and a tv. they were funny, honest, super fast, inexpensive, and friendly. I kinda didn't want to leave. Anywhoo, go there, you'll love it. The end.

After looking at what a burgler did to my car, I had no idea who in town could repair the damage. I called Dave's Ultimate Automotive on S. Congress and immediately was welcomed with kindness and respect as a customer. I explained them my problem and they told me that it would take some extra work but they could do. They gave me and estimate after looking at it and it came down exactly to it when I left with my car stereo and A/C repaired. They appreciated the business and not shy of showing it. I've had a great experience at this location and sure you will too.

First, let me start by saying I'm that girl who brings their car to the shop at 4:00pm on Friday afternoon. After being turned away by a couple of places that said they couldn't deal with the car until Monday, I was desperate for someone to at least look at the vehicle.

After explaning the symptoms (metal scraping metal by front left tire), the mechanic listening (Andrew) made a similar prognosis to previous shops. He then TOOK THE TIME to ask a couple more questions and realized that the problem might not be so complicated. He said they would check it out and to give him a couple of minutes. Finally, some willing to help!After a short while, he came back and said that it was potentially a major brake job and i would need to leave the car there or bring it back on Monday to get fixed. Damn, well at least I had a prognosis now.

I asked for a minute to decide if I should get a rental car (which they explained that they could arrange at a discounted price) or drive my car all weekend and risk making it worse.I told the shop that I would leave the car and get a rental, when Andrew comes back in and says they've made some adjustments and they're giving the car a test drive to make sure they resolved the issue! 30-45 minutes after arriving at the shop and my car is fixed!!!

It doesn't stop there... I told them I would be back on Monday (there's a couple of belts that I know need replacing) and they told me where to find coupons online so I could save some cash when I got back.

This shop is Quality. They care about the people that come in, they care about fixing cars, and as a result they are a success.

They play that part war with you. From my visit they were very helpful over the phone and in person. They even gave me a rental car while mine was in the shop. But then when it comes to the actual work they continuously charge you for parts that are irrelevant to the problem. I heard good things about the place but I was charged out the @$$ three times and the problem was never actually fixed. You decide... maybe you won't get screwed like I did.

If you need to find a good mechanic in Austin, go to Dave's Ultimate Automotive.

First of all, they treated me like I was the most important thing in the world to them. They listened when I told them what I wanted done, and why. They then offered suggestions on a few other things I could do, and I could tell that these people knew their stuff. I handed my keys over without any fear to these nice people and I went about my day.

I can not express how great the service is at Dave's Ultimate Automotive. Each and every time I have brought my truck in to be serviced everyone has been so helpful and courteous. Michelle, Jr. and Andrew are so friendly. I love that I can come in and not feel like they are trying to sell me something I don't need, infact I don't feel like they are trying to "sell" me anything. Michelle is awesome, she explains exactly what the problem is - and in terms that I can understand. She is honest and will tell me what needs work now and what can wait. They even have a shuttle service that was very helpful while my truck was being worked on. I know that when I come to Dave's they will fix/service only what needs to be done and they do it right the first time.

I've come to this place a few times and have had nothing but good experiences. When I go to most car places, I start to have other problems right away when I get something fixed. But here, the only time I need to come back is for an oil change. They also offer great discounts and referall discounts. Everyone is extremely courteous and nice. I even got rides to my house and to work and back to the shop. I will continue coming back to this shop.

My visit to the shop was great. I worked in the car business 15yrs and I am very picky were I take my car. They treated me with great respect and made sure I left there with all my problems taken car of properly.
They were very timely and very acurate with what my car needed done. I have found a place that takes the time and is very customer oriented and will return with anything i need done.

I have known Michelle for almost 3 years and am always impressed with her knowledge and willingness to explain what is wrong with a car and the best and most cost effective way to fix it.

They have a short turn around time, and you can trust that they will take good care of your car and everything in it. For example, I left a car over night and they took the face off the stereo, all the change in the cup holder, and the CDs and put them under the seat out of sight.

They also keep accurate documents on any service they perform, and they treat you like a friend rather than just a customer. They are also strong supporters of the community and give back when they can.

I have always had the absolute best service at Dave's. Michelle and Andrew are always so friendly and helpful. I feel that I can totally trust them and that they are not trying to cheat me. The location is so convenient because it is located right on my way to work. Their shuttle service is also very convenient. I know that if I ever need a car repair, I can just pick up the phone and call Michelle or Andrew and they will take care of me as if I were family.

You know it is really rare these days to find honest, courteous service. I felt like I had "struck gold" when I started coming to Dave' for all of our auto repairs.

Dave's provided me excellent service. They spoke through my car problems with me and made sure I understood exactly what was needed and what would wait. All of the employees have been very friendly and they even suggested on their own that they would provide me with a rental if repairs took more than the same day. I'm probably like most when I say I'm weary of auto repair places in general, but I trust Dave's.

I've taken my 2001 VW in for repairs and oil changes. I've been more than pleased every time. I actually have a good feeling about getting my car repaired there. My friend recommended them to me and I will do the same to my friends and family.

Wow! What awesome service. I have never been disappointed with any service done on my 2001 F150. The service has kept her running for 160k + miles. I hand out business cards and recommend my family, co-workers and anyone else to Dave's for any service need. My niece brought in her car and received every bit of the service that I told her she would get. I have never dealt with an automotive shop that is more honest and willing to talk you through what's going on with your vehicle. They are not pushy and don't force unneeded service. As long as there is Dave's Ultimate Automotive, I am a customer.

I am somewhat new to Austin. I took my car to a dealer and was dissatisfied w/ the information I recieved about my car. I stumbled upon Daves and they took me dynamicly through every step of my service. I believe they went above and beyond w/ customer service and would reccomend them to anyone. I felt no pressure for alternate repairs and felt every option was was explored and explained. If you need honest repairs by knowledgeable and consciencious people, this is the place to go! Thx M

Thank You Dave's Ultimate Automotive! So here I was, new in Austin, and I needed some basic work done on my car. I'd heard that a few simple maintenance services could improve my gas mileage and I was all for getting it done as soon as possible! Now for the real dilemma, where to go?

I had been to the dealer, but they were very expensive and a little rude, almost like they didn't have time for me. I thought to myself, "well if I'm not important to them, they sure aren't getting my hard earned money", especially in these tough economic times.I briefly considered not doing the work at all since I had no idea who I could trust to do it properly.

But then, I was reminded that my car was my second biggest investment, next to my house. If I don't take care of it, I would basically be throwing a whole lot of money out the window, and I don't know anybody who can afford to do that these days!I asked around at work and a few people said that they took their cars to Dave's Ultimate Automotive. I knew these people didn't drive junkers, so I gave it a shot.

Wow, am I glad I did! First of all, they treated me like I was the most important thing in the world to them. They listened when I told them what I wanted done, and why. They offered suggestions on a few other things I could do, and I could tell that these people knew their stuff. I handed my keys over without any fear to these nice people and I went about my day.They gave me a full estimate of all the work that we had agreed on, and I knew what my parts were going to cost before they began to work on my car.

Some other places I had been to tried to be very vague because I'm a woman. Not so at Dave's Ultimate Automotive, they didn't' treat me like an automotive idiot. I knew my car was getting the best care and that my wallet was safe. They gave me an oil change and aired up my tires to the proper levels. Those things actually do make a difference! They gave me a full tune up including belts, hoses and filters that were needed and topped off all of my fluids; not just threw some cheap spark plugs in there or changed out things that didn't need to be like most other places trying to make a quick buck.

When I came to get my car, the estimate was completely accurate, down to the penny! My car runs like new and I'm getting 3 miles more to each and every gallon of gas. I recommend Dave's Ultimate Automotive to anyone that will listen! Their knowledgeable staff and super friendly service has won me over completely. The nicest part was that they weren't even trying, it just came naturally to them.

This was the best automotive shop experience I have ever had, and I've had plenty. I will be a Dave's Ultimate Automotive customer for life!

I recently went to Dave?s north location because I was in the area and needed some repairs right away. They got me right in and I was impressed by how quick they were, along with their professionalism and honesty. Same thing happened again just recently so I took my car to their south location since I live closer and once again, these guys exceeded my expectations. I?ve had some repairs done by the dealership but have gotten fed up over how much they charge so I delayed getting a pretty major belt replaced until I could find the right place. I?m soo glad I found Dave?s Ultimate Automotive.. they charged much less than the dealership would have and now that I am certain that both shops do an exceptional job, it gives me peace of mind knowing that if I have problems again, I?ll be able to take it to either location! A friend of mine recommended Dave's on South Lamar as a good place to have auto work done. Ironically, the next day my Trailblazer started making a clicking sound when I turned it on. I called Dave's and they said they could take me right away. I went ahead and made an appointment for the next morning and took it in. The staff was friendly and honest, and even though I'm a guy that knows NOTHING about cars, they were open and not condescending as some mechanics can be.

Since I'm planning a cross country road trip I had them do a full look over on my car, which took pretty much all day. When they called me to tell me the car was ready turns out I just needed a new battery. They could have GOUGED me and it was so cheap I felt like I owed them more. They even have a FREE shuttle service that took me home and then picked me up later.

I'm so impressed by Dave's I'll be telling all my friends to go there.

Highly recommended. I only came in for an inspection, but was so pleased with the place that I already made my next appointment for some more extensive work on the car. We went in to patch a tire and witnessed the rudest customer possible. The customer was completely out of line and the staff treated the situation with such tact and professionalism I was shocked. The staff was so friendly right when we walked in until we left and answered any and all questions we had. I really didn't feel like I do when I go to other automotive shops because of the excellent staff. They apologized again and again about the customer which, by no means, was their fault. We would have gladly paid the nominal price to patch the tire but they kindly waived the fee. We scheduled an oil change for the future. Definitely going back!!! Great staff, and they're local.......beats any national corporation!! By the way, they have a computer to use while you wait.

I have known Dave for years and have watched him grow his business with a very simple business philosiphy. He seems to really care for his customers not just thier cars. I have used him for over 15 years and I send my friends, employees and family to him all the time! I just have a tremendous amount of trust and confidence with all of his employees and certified mechanics that anyone could hope for in an auto repair shop. The best part about it in my opinion is that the place is ALWAYS CLEAN over there! As a very busy small business owner here in Austin, I like the email reminders that I get from Dave's to tell me to just "go change my oil" or "rotate my tires". Time just gets away from me and they keep me on track for the best possible life for MY car. I really appreciate service like that since cars aren't cheap anymore and you really have to keep up with the maintenance for them to last a long time!

I was extremely excited to see a Dave's Ultimate Automotive open in south Austin. I live south, but for years I've been making the trip up north to the original location. Why? Because, without fail, I always received straightforward and honest advice and the best quality care and service I've ever experienced. Now, that there's a Dave's south, it's the best of both worlds. Top notch service and a convenient location. Speaking of convenience, Dave's also has a shuttle service and offers discounts for scheduling in advance on its Web site. Dave's puts customer service and quality care first. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I've lived south of the river & worked downtown for 10 years & the entire time, I've driven to Dave's shop on Howard Lane. An honest mechanic is hard to find & when you do, you'll drive to North Austin. My co-workers go to Dave's shop for their maintenance, from my recommendations, it's worth it. If a repair isn't immediately necessary, they'll tell you what needs to get done now & what can wait. Dave's shop has kept my '96 Pathfinder running smoothly for over 145,000 miles & I plan to go another 100K. With Dave's help, I won't be a problem! Schedule work in advance online, AWESOME! Coupons online, BONUS! I can't say enough about these guys, THEY ARE FAMILY THAT WILL TREAT YOU RIGHT. Go you'll see first hand & recommend them to others as well.

I've been taking my car's to Dave Ultimate Automotive up north for nearly 10 years now. I own older cars and Dave always shoots straight telling what needs to be addressed and what can wait. He always takes the time to discuss recommended repairs so even the layman can understand the issue. Dave has also added many additional services like the AutoCare Credit Card that I found helpful when I needed some extensive work done on one of my cars.

I have been using Dave's Ultimate at its North location for years and I was very excited to see the S. Congress location open. I had my truck serviced there last week and was very pleased to find the same great treatment I have received at the North location has transferred to the South location as well. I love the fact they can work on all of my cars and I don't have to go back to the dealer and pay their huge service prices. Dave's is a good honest shop and I never feel like I am being cheated or having unnecessary repairs done. They also have shuttle service which has come in very handy when I don't have time to wait.

I've had my cars serviced at Dave's north location for more than 10 years. I moved to southwest Austin 5 years ago but have continued going to Dave's on Howard Lane. I can't imagine going anywhere else because I trust Dave with my cars. They offer full repair services and preventive maintenance. If something needs fixing, they fix it. If it doesn't, they leave it alone or let you know when something should be addressed in the future. I'm glad Dave has opened a south Austin location and am happy to recommend Dave's !

I know little about the mechanical aspects of automobiles and I typically do not like having my car serviced because I feel like I am being taken advantage of and I have no knowledge to dispute the never ending recommendations posed by technicians. The local dealer charges me $200+ for an oil change and visual inspection of my European vehicle and I have to schedule the service weeks in advance. I took my vehicle to Dave's new south location last week and I received the same service for a fraction of the price.

The employees were very friendly, the facility was spotless and the location is conducive to dropping off your vehicle at Dave's and then walking to one of many nearby restaurants to grab a bite to eat while your car is being worked on. It was the first time in a long while that I left an automobile service shop feeling satisfied.
