In 2001, Jordan Tobins brought the simple concept of traditional Neapolitan-style pizza (thin crust, chunky sauce) to an urban setting and founded the Upper Crust Pizzeria, opening in a small storefront on Beacon Hill's historic Charles Street. Today, Boston pizza-lovers can visit any of the area's fourteen locations to enjoy unique pies created in an open-kitchen atmosphere and served up in award-winning architectural spaces. Whether grabbing a slice to go or settling in with friends to watch the hometown team on HDTV screens throughout the restaurant, guests can be sure they are in for a mouth-watering experience unlike any other.
Not so great!

I usually go to the Upper Crust in Brookline and have a great slice of pizza, but this time I went to the new location in Watertown, MA. I had the worst slice of pizza I have had in a long time. It was soggy, ripped in half and nothing but tomato chunks...in addition, I had to wait 7 minutes just to order and I was the only person in line (if the staff would get off the phone and work it might have been a different story) so don't bother to go to this location it is really bad!

Bad Service
by Anonymous
I read another review by someone else, and it must have been the same cashier I spoke with. I ordered 1 large pizza for delivery and after an hour and a half of waiting, I called back to see where my order was. The man who answered the phone said that no order had been placed to the address. The man was not apologetic at all. Overall, it's too pricey, bad service, and there are plenty of other pizza stores in Watertown that are just as good for half the price.
I'm not the type to write reviews, but this place had me so enraged I felt like I had to.

The Upper Crust in Watertown
by Anonymous
My wife and I stopped in on a Friday afternoon on a whim. We've been to The Upper Crust in Brookline and Waltham, and were happy to have one in our town. We ordered a large veggie pie to go and sat down to wait. After almost 45 minutes of watching three of the pizza cooks standing around and EATING IN THE KITCHEN WITHOUT WASHING THEIR HANDS BEFORE HANDLING CUSTOMERS' FOOD, my wife got up to see what was going on. She was met by one of the cashiers, who was coming out to see what we had ordered. Apparently the other cashier had written "take out" on our order. It was sitting on top of the oven for who knows how long. The cashier was mildly apologetic. I work in customer service and probably would have offered to comp drinks or made a gesture of some kind.
The pizza was good, but cold. Mistakes happen, but there are too many pizza restaurants in the area (Sweet Tomatoes for example) with excellent pizza, better service, and better prices to go back to the Watertown Upper Crust.

Watertown Square has LOTS of places to get pizza. But Upper Crust distinguishes itself as having gourmet slices in a very hip atmosphere. The prices are a little step for just slices but they don't disappoint.

we love this place
by MamaK71
My 7 year old son and I live around the corner, and we love that we can walk into town and get a great pizza, watch the game, and have a good time.
The staff is very nice, the pizza is amazing, though I have to say the BBQ sauce on the BBQ chicken pizza is WAY too overpowering/sweet.
Pros: a short walk away
Cons: I got nothin'

Great Pizza
by lindos39
I love the sauce and cheese at Upper Crust. Always fun to see what the special of the day will be. Great pizza all around and ESPN all the time!
Pros: Pizza atmosphere and speed.
Cons: Should open earlier than 11:30

Best Pizza and Easy with kids
by irm
This is really great thin crust pizza (which my kids really like). The sauce is terrific, very different from ordinary pizza joint pizza sauce. The restaurant is airy and roomy with big long tables. My kids especially like the pizza trays hanging from the ceilings. We like the beer and wine with the pizza. I only wish there weren't so many TVs, though that seems to be everywhere nowadays. A corner without a TV in sight would be nice once in a while.
Pros: Taste, Service, Space, Menu choices
Cons: TVs
