okay, to the person that said crap about Romeo...i go to this pet store often.
Romeo is 104 years old. he is blind and cannot be in a cage that big, because he would injure himself and not be able to find his food. so shut it. you obviously didnt ask about it..and if you were that concerned about it, you would have.
The animals are in smaller cages, but they get held and taken out constantly. its not like they are stuck in there. and, they get sold fast. very fast. so its not like its a huge deal.
Tropic Waters takes very good care of their animals. and as for the puppies, yeah most of them are over-priced. if your going to a pet store for a puppy your stupid anyways. there are sooo many puppies being put down in shelters, your just ignorant. oh, and if your excuse is that you want a purebred, you obviously dont know how many purebreds there are WITH PAPERS in the shelters. research. dont spend that kind of money on a dog, when there are thousands being put down a day.

I was horribly dissapointed when I went in to the store to look at a "purebred" yorkshire terrier puppy "with papers". The puppy was supposedly 9 weeks old. This puppy was HUGE, had very curly hair, and did not have the face of a purebred yorkie. When asked about the "papers", the employee said they were APRI registered. Which means.... nothing. Check out the website: http://www.aprpets.org. On top of that, they wanted $1,199 for this dog and could not state precisely where the puppy came from. I saw way too many red flags and walked away from the sale.

the woman earlier who said the crickets killed her lizard is obviously crazy. This store is all about the animals and this woman is obviously not aware that a pet store cannot provide the size of cages that a customer would provide for it at home. Pet stores have to have pets right and if they had every pet in a cage the size it should be in at home how would the store have enough space, should they provide a full size back yard for each puppy too. Jim is an extremely smart, caring, animal lover and would not ever put an animal at risk. He goes above and beyond for the animals and really knows his stuff, unfortunately the birds are in small cages but you dont realize is that people buy them and they usually are not in them for long!!! Phenominal place to buy everything, food, feeders, small animals, fish, and puppies. I love this store and so do so many people i know.

there pets there are very crowded i feel bad for the poor animals they had at least 7 turtles in one cage only big enough for one + the poor birds are so crowded in those cages they can barley eat without being attacked they also let the birds out of the cages and they bite thats a bad idea.
I went there one day and I was heart broken when I saw that older parrot he could not even stretch his wings he was traped in the cage
And I went there to buy a cute rat but they said they did not carry them and i almost cried I am very unhappy with that place there crickets killed my lizard asd well i had him for 2 years and thanks to you hes gone :(

This our go-to pet store! With 1 dog, 4 cats, 1 rabbit, 1 anole lizard, 1 salamander and our recently started saltwater aquarium we are very impressed with their knowledge and how personable they are. We recently waited almost 20 min at a local "Chain" petstore for someone to help us with our saltwater questions and there were NO staff around. At Tropic Waters, even on their busiest day, they do their best to help and don't try to fool us if they aren't sure about something. Instead they find one of their resident experts. With our saltwater tank, they really made us feel important and not silly by listening to our questions and were honest because they want what is best for the animals, not always what the owner would like (to fill our tank with all sorts of colorful fish and animals). They remember us every time we come in and can tell us if our system is ready for the fish yet or not because they know what type of environment their fish will need in a permanant tank. Also, every time I have been there the owner has been too and is a great resource for help with any type of animal. 5 stars!

The birds were in crowded cages. Some were too fat to even fly around. One bird, Romeo, barely had enough room to turn around or even spread his wings and stretch. The cages were WAAAY too small for even one bird, yet they crammed two or more in the smallest cages. Some birds were missing feathers... probably from stress or the many other birds in the cage pecking at them. A fish tank had like thirty fish in it. Even fish need room to move around. A turtle tank had like eight turtles when it was only big enough for two at the most. I could clearly see they just wanted to make a buck and didn't care about the well being of the animals.

I was very impressed by the knowledge of all the staff, and how clean, organized and well maintained the new store is. And as far as the puppy mill issue goes, those puppies DO NOT COME FROM MILLS!! I have had the opportunity to meet a breeder who comes in from time to time. . Tropic waters does work with the humane society. The reason he is not selling kittens is because the humane society is very over populated. Tropic waters has a huge harted staff and owner. What other pet store cares as much as they do? They are able to answer more questions in detail, work with you and you're animal and Tropic waters is not a chain which shows they really do care! I would NOT trust any other pet business with the health and well-being of my pets. (who are my kids)

friendly, attentive service - great staff, very knowledgeable. they dont have the best variety, especially for small animals, but it's very good for a small, independent pet store. as for prices, its pretty much on par with a larger pet store like petco or petsmart, so i would recommend the locally owned store. i also find them to be more conveniently located.
