Modern Salon Day Spa

Modern Day Salon ROCKS! I have gone to see Long for many years and they have the system down. The reason for the delay is the demand and SOOOO many clients! I saw the show and was very happy for Long and his family of hairstylists! I have a friend who drives from Baytown to get her hair done. It is so worth the wait and they rock. Anyone who complains that it takes too long needs to go to Visible Changes!!!! GO LONG!!!!

OK First off wonderful job they did with my color when I came Down from CA. This is also not a review of the Salon's tv show appearance Chanta W. and Adrienne L. Go to a page that welcomes that crap. Giving a place a bad review and you never been there( just because of whats on the show) really grow up plz. Every time someone gives a black person criticism it racist or they where being mean to them because of the color of there skin. Plz do something in your life because everyone that says someone is a racist is also racist. o before you say anything i Am black and i grew up in Chicago. I grow up i poverty and made something with my life insteady of think i was being held down because of my skin

If you like to wait and wait, then Modern Salon Day Spa may be for you. An appointment can be made and hairdresser chosen, but no one pays attention to this. Over an hour wait for a hairdresser is not unusual, then you may get turned over to another and another. They need to be responsible for client's time as well. Do not recommend this place.

After seeing the episode of Split Ends, the owner could learn a lot from his nephew and the really rude employee of his needs to be fired. She planned from day one to give him a hard time. If she was placed in the position that he has in she would understand and would see that he was suppressing his anger and attitude that she was constantly putting pressure on. And as for the owner, if you cant abide by the rules don't play the game. If you cant live up to the name "Modern Day" maybe you should rethink your way of management. I am in the military and I am more comfortable when I am not around people so strict. Everyone in your salon cant enjoy themselves because they got sticks up their butts including the customers. Everyone looked uncomfortable. And as for you Chris I wish you the best because you are the best all the way around. Your attitude is welcoming and you get respect because you give respect. I hope to see you running your own salon one day. Keep your uncle's hard work attitude but don't work so hard that you cant enjoy your craft and pull that stick out your uncle's butt.

The first time I went to Modern Salon, Tao did my color and Long did my cut. I was very pleased. I went back and started seeing Chris. He gave me a really hip cut with that Heidi Klum bang. It was awesome. I love everyone at Modern Salon. Since i've been going to Phoenix, I won't let anyone else touch my hair. She always does what I want and I walk out of there looking gorgeous (at least my hair) Phoenix is awesome and a wonderful person. And for the best arched brows, see Vy! She takes her time and does them perfect. She takes a long time but so worth it.

I've been going to modern salon for about over a year now and they always do an AMAZING job with my hair. Even though when i book an appointment it does take longer for them to come around to the next client, i would definitely wait then go somewhere else and have them mess my hair-up. I would recommend them to ANYONE. They have amazing prices and wonderful employees.

I have been going to Long and his team at Modern Salon for over 3 years- these people aren't just hair stylists or your everday Toni & Guy- they are TRUE REAL people who know exactly what they are doing... Long and his team have proved that they are world class wonderful hair professionals. I never leave without a smile and I always feel confident and love the results I get- everyone there is fantastic- For the people who complain about the wait: who cares how long it takes when you get the best results and the most reasonable prices... I am forever endebted to Modern Salon (Long in particular) for how great they have been to me- I love Modern Salon- they will always have my business... It took so long to find the right person to do my hair- I trust them!! Contrary to bad reviews, go check it out... I doubt anyone will leave disappointed! Lauren Liberto

They do a great job at what they do, but when you explain to them what you want done to your hair, they do what they think is best without letting you know. They also need to think of a better way to make appointments for their clients. Some people don't mind waiting 3-5 hours, and others need to be places.

I walked in w/ a picture of Sophia Loren and walked out looking like her! Long is fabulous,he reminds me of Edward Scissor-hands. He can cut your hair in seconds while he instructs others and you end up looking fabulous! Yes, the wait is long and they do forget about you w/ dye on her head-but its worth it! Cost -REASONABLE!

I have always been happy with the job Long & Tao have done on my hair. The highlights are always BEAUTIFUL! Really! I never witnessed any racism at the salon; so I am not sure where that negative note came from- so just don't go there! They do get busy, so be prepared to wait in between steps. It is worth the wait though.

i have been going to the Modern Salon for about 8 years. i started going when i was in 4th grade. my mother used to take me to get my haircut and blonde highlights. everytime i go there i always ask for Long and Chris. i think Chris is the most SEXiEST guy alive!!! lol :] i am now in the 11th grade and i still go every once a year maybe. but i want to be a hair stylist in the future and i just look up to them sooo much. everyone in the family goes to longs salon.!!:]
the old salon was the shitttt. but the new one is da bombbb like tick tick.!! ;] i love the modern salooonnnn

Appointments mean nothing to these people. You have to wait and wait and wait and then they just take walk ins too. This place is too chaotic with everyone running around like a chicken with their head cut off. They FORGOT about me and left me under the dryer with the bleach on my highlights, they turned WHITE!! I have dark brown hair. Needless to say, I was horrified. They did fix it, being there for FOUR hours, and I refused to pay. Save yourself the time and effort, pay a few bucks more for the personal attention.

Did I read someone state, that these people are raciest? Please pull that card out some other time. Where Modern Salon is located your is the most deversify area in Houston. I don't think someone that is raciest would put a business where the minority is white. That Dontez was a tool and was fired from the Salon in Ohio, when he got back...Chris Do is awesome and so is the shop. These people are very serious about there work, and personally I want those type of people working on my hair....I love this shop and I will continue to drive 50 miles to see Chris work his magic on me..

Now Chris I see you have life and huge possibilities... TALENT ! Get out on your own and open a salon, get a manager to manage your business.You should be the main stylist, and teacher. Someone should be the manager, not a stylist at all. After seeing you on Split Ends how full of life you were in Cleveland, and how suffocated you are in Houston, you need to spread your wings. Your uncle is a great teacher but now it is time for you to go and DO. You will be big...keep your head out of the clouds.but have fun.Reward your clients with love, your talent, and with your success.And customer service! They will keep coming back.

First Adrienne I disagree with you about Long being a racist, No he is not. I will say he should have had his employee for dinner though. She should have been reprimanded and put on probation with the way she treated a guest. Dontez should have been taken a side had a coffee with and talk to him like a human. Long should not have allowed an employee to take the charge like that. Its shows he only has control when he wants it. Dontez also should have been a lot nicer he also was a guest.... :)

When I came there, yes at first no one wanted to work on my hair, I told them what I wanted and I didnt care what it took I wanted to go back to my natural blonde after dying it black for a year, Long finally came up to me and said he would make me beautiful again. Now it took over 6 hours and 5 people but my hair is so beautiful and they were even in shock at the fact how blonde they got my hair and with so much health left. After wards the price was amazing, any where else due to the extensive amount of hair solution they had to keep re-applying to my hair would have charged me 3 times what they did. When they are busy they are busy, but I never thought that I would be so happy with how my hair turned out, and still in health! I would recommend anyone who thinks the impossible could not happen, to go to this salon.

After watching the show Splitends on the Style Network and observing how rude these people were to the guest stylist, it seems completely clear to me that these people are racist and intolerant. If you have any color to your skin or any unique idea as to how you want your hair done, do NOT ever go to this salon. These people are outrageously militant racists.

I went to get my hair cut for a style that would fit hair type and face. Long talked to me about 2 minutes and said he could deliver. He then passed me off to someone else to do my color. I feel my color is way to dark for my age. Long spend less than 5 minutes and basically trimmed my hair. It looks the same now as it did before I went in only darker. Someone else blow dryed my hair and she continuously asked my how I would like it styled and dried! Needless to say, I will never return to this salon. Long seemed more interested in talking about himself than anything else.

After watching on the Style Channel's Split Ends show how this place is run, and seeing the bad attitudes of both the owners and the employees at this salon, I would never step foot in this salon, much less let them touch a hair on my head.

I've been going to Modern Salon for 6 years, left once and had to come back because I couldn't find anyone to please my hair needs. I just finished watching Split Ends on the Style channel and just cried watching Chris kick some major ass! Talk about being the best salon, you have to appreciate waiting a little FOR THE BEST COLOR, CUT and blow dry ever. Long is amazing! And his wife Toe is the BOSS! and if you can't get that.... you don't belong. They are the most beautiful couple I've ever seen! If they weren't on the map THEY ARE NOW! Snap! And now, I want a hug from Chris. He had them falling at his feet when he left Cleveland, OH. I've always watched him from afar with complete awe and he totally intimidated me but now I have seen his work from the show Split Ends and I'm more impressed than ever! Long is one of the most respected gentlemen I know and he deserves it. He's AMAZING and everything he touches turns to gold! After you meet all the people who work there, you know Long has touched them in one way or another. Come to the salon and get the cut of a lifetime. Manny is my colorist/stylist and he is so committed and beautiful in the way he treats his clients. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. The people there are amazing. Every one of them! Oh, and the new floor manager? She ROCKS! Proud to be a client!

I have been going to Modern Salon for a while now. My mom actually referred me and I went to their previous location, which was a TINY shop and very crowded. There I waited for quite some time but loved the end result. I went back when Long (owner) and his team moved into the new location, which is a very nice place. The wait was not as long and of course, I LOVED my hair. I do not mind waiting to get my hair done as everyone is friendly and they definitely know what they are doing. I always walk out of there feeling like a million bucks. Long's wife does my highlights and lowlights and always does a great job. Long cuts my hair and he knows what he is doing. I love this salon and the prices are very affordable. Long and his team have got a great place!

Manning is the Man!! After having my consultation with Long (owner of salon), Manning colored, cut and styled my hair to my perfection. I have been in high end salons with all the extras but if my hair is not to my complete satisfaction, what is the point of the extras except distractions from poor quality workmanship. I have short straight hair and have not been completely happy with my look. After letting it grow, I solely went on Citysearch web page, stepped out of my comfort zone and took a chance. I had a 10:30 appt. on Tuesday (two colors, cut and style) and was out of there by noon. The new salon on N. Houston Rosslyn is lovely and very comfortable. Everyone is friendly, great music, respected my input, and affordable prices. I can't wait to take my teen granddaughter for a style when she comes to visit. Elanka

My girlfriend told me about Modern Salon Day Spa. I could not believe it when I went there. As soon as I walked in everyone wanted to wait on me hand & foot. I have never been to a salon that put color on my hair and then took me to get a pedicure while the color processed. I was able to get nail, feet, hair done in two hours and buy products and tip for under $200.00. I usually go to salons in the Galleria area for pampering, but I must say I was pampered better than ever and my hair turned out great! I highly recommend Modern Salon Day Spa.

Since I've been going there, I haven't stopped. There service is 100%, they know your hair texture and your past due hair history, they are very concern once you go to your appt, they take care of you, I leave happy with my hair look and everyone around me ask wow your hair looks amazing, its cut nicely and always different. I recommend everyone to go, they make you feel comfortable the minute you walk in, they say hi and offer water as your under the hair dryer

My daughter and I tried this place several months ago since it is close to our house. My daughter went for lowlights and a cut. I went for a massage. My massage was not one of the better ones I have had. I would blame the tables rather than the therapist. Additionally there was not really a locker area for changing and storing your clothes and personal belongings. The tables were rather flimsy and the head rest was not stable. My daughter had one of the better haircuts she has had in a while, but the coloring or lowlights were a disaster. Came out a terrible shade of ash, probably due to the fact she had been bleaching her hair, which was why we were going to do the lowlights an attempt to blend the roots, without continuing to bleach the hair. To their credit she went back two days later and they "fixed" the color. I think these people are probably really good with hair normally and I would use their salon services again, I would just be really firm about what I wanted with my hair, rather than leave it to their decision.

I have been a customer of Long and Thao for 10 years. Long is like Edward Scissorhand. He looks at you and knows exactly what to do with your hair to make you feel good. Thao is the color specialist, plus doing many other duties in the salon. My suggestion for avoiding the crowds (and there are crowds), go on a Thursday morning and get there before 9:45 a.m. There will be people aready there being served even though they don't officially open until 10:00 a.m, You may pay a little more than you would pay at a much smaller salon, but it is worth every penny. Give it a try. Tell Long I sent you.

I have been coming here for ever!! I recently had to move down to the Med Center; but still come down to see them. Even though I have access to many hair salons in the my surrounding area that are probably good. I still choose Modern Hair Salon over all. They know hair! If you want Hair Studio quality, you must come to Modern Hair Salon.

I have been coming to Long for a long time and he does a fantastic job on my hair. The price is very reasonable. The atmosphere is really hyped up. The only down fall is that you have to wait a long time. Overall the staff is wonderful.
