We went to Paddy O'Splaines the last time we were in Chicago. This Irish bar was a great time. A couple of Irish car bombs in, I was great friends with the bartender. The party room accomodates a large number of people and the prices are reasonable.

Great Neighborhood Bar
by dc817
I've lived in the neighorhood for over 15 years and stumbles upon this place about 2 months ago. Reading some of the old reviews on here is the reason I'm writing an UPDATED review. Those one stars obviously are bitter for some reason or know owners on a personal level trying to hurt the business. There is NO way these drinks are overpriced. $3 call drinks on thursdays is over priced? Really? If that's the case then maybe you should just stay home. .35 wings also overpriced. HA. The bartender is one of the nicest and social bartenders I've met in awhile. This bar def. does NOT belong in Lincoln park wher you get 80%under age drinkers with their nose in the air. I've stopped here a couple times since I first found this place and only once did I have a so so experience, but instead of going directly and slamming the business I decided to address it to a manager. It was taken care of and appreciated. I HIGHLY recommend this place especially on Thursdays for their great drink and food specials. I've introduced this place to many people and will continue to do so. Also they have a couple seats outdoors if you don't feel like sitting indoors.
Pros: Great Drink Specials

This is a WONDERFUL place for food for all!
by pelllakewi
WOW! This restaurant was a wonderful, wonderful surprise! We thought this place was a bar when stopped in for a couple of drinks with some family from the city on a Wednesday (I think??). When we got inside we saw that in addition to a beautiful bar, this place has a huge restaurant area. Well, we sat down ard ordered lunch with our drinks when we found out that they had a special on hamburgers for $3.00 that day (which they do every week). Those burgers were UNBELIEVABLY HUGE and they were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. These were the kind of burgers we used to get years ago at Hackneys in Glenview. We haven't seen burgers that thick in a long time, anywhere! They knocked our socks off!!! We started with an appetizer - fried shoestring potatoes with mushroom truffle sauce called "Pommes Frites" (or something close to that). These were fantastic as well. The waiter was also very nice and yet we were pleased to see that he maintained a level of professionalism and kept his distance when we were eating, but kept the drinks flowing. We never had to ask for refills. Needless to say, we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Very good food and service. Tasty Pizza. Save restaurant reviews from the Comic Book Guy.

We went with another family which included 6 children. The accommodations, food and the service was great. I came to the city search site to get the phone number to set up a party. I read the three reviews, apparently written by the same person, and was surprised we were talking about the same restaurant. Someone is obviously disgruntled. I'm guessing that they might be enrolled in a creative writing class at the local civic center.
I know I'll be going back next week with a bunch of friends. They have a Wii on a 10' screen for god's sake.
Pros: Large, good food, activities, nice decor

Wonderful Experience
by MickeyPaws
After looking through the comments / reviews....I am apalled that you do not monitor the reviews..
APPEARS that one person has written some terrible reviews on a restaurant I enjoyed. I am not an owner nor do I know the owner, what I do know is that I was treated with respect and enjoyed the food.
To say in two reviews that you would rather have acid thrown in your face is disturbing.. these comments need to be removed, maybe this is a fired employee or someone who has time to write these terrible things but you must agree that these comments SHOULD NOT BE A REFLECTION ON THIS GREAT NEW RESTAURANT. If it was a fired employee obviously he / she deserved it as with those type of comments, I would not want someone that disturbed waiting on me or cooking for me. Hope you all agree ....Thank you.
Pros: awesome staff and food

Better than being drawn and quartered......almost.

The folks who run this place have an obvious contempt for the customer. Way overpriced, lame beer list, and the food nearly brought me to seizure. It's a good size space it's too bad they have no clue on how to utilize it. But the real crime is the staff. I'd rather have sulfuric acid thrown in my face than have to deal with those.....people again. It's their slothful ways that are obviously a byproduct of living under communism. Still, you're in the USA now! Get to Work! Have you never heard the expression "Work will make you Free"? Any positive reviews here are most certainly written by management. Have these people no shame?
Pros: They don't actually slug you in the face.
Cons: I'd rather be slugged in the face.

Only a wrecking ball could improve this place!
by AudryTotter
This cookie cutter standard issue pseudo-irish pub left me cold. Was it the overpriced drinks and food? Was it the terrible service from the disinterested staff? Perhaps it was the sterile environment or the room temp appetizers we were eventually served. I just can't put my finger on it. The crowd is lame. Try getting a root canal instead I'm certain you'll have more fun.
Pros: They take American currency.
Cons: I'd rather have acid thrown in my face than hang there again.

Another tired "Irish" bar...please stay in the suburbs
by jaymobrown
This place is a typical faux Irish wannabe bar. Beer selection is terrible. Food is completely standard bar fare. What I can't understand is the terrible music. Why with a place that invested so much in infrastructure would play the Mix? Listening to commercials? Don't fret...there's enough TVs (13 from where I sat) so you don't have to talk with the people you are with. This bar belongs nowhere near Lincoln Square...perhaps Lincoln Park or Wrigleyville or in the Suburbs. The city doesn't need another Applebee's knockoff. If you like anything original, inventive or fun, then stay away from this travesty of a bar.
Pros: Good looking bar; not crowded
Cons: Terrible service, lackluster drinks, uninspired

WOW, I cant beleive this food came from a bar!
by foodguy24
I had read some bad reveiws about this place but since I was in the area I decided to check it out myself.
I must say it is a gorgeus bar that they obviously put a lot of money into( granite and LCD's everywhere and a HUGE fish tank ) and the service was pretty good, but the food was OUTSTANDING! I tried the gnocchi and the Beef wellington( nice to see on a menu) and realized this was no average bar food, I will be back because my eye is on the salmon dish that the table next to me kept going on and on about...nice job O'splaine's you will see me again!
Pros: FOOD,FOOd,FOOD
