Excellent neighborhood restaurant!!!! 5 Star Rating - World class

My friend and I attend Cafe Circa at least once a month and we both love this restaurant. The drinks are excellent!! I will admit that the menu was lacking variety until a month ago, however they have now added several dishes that are very good. The chicken with savory black beans and rice is declicious and deep dish peach cobbler is so good that you will think your grandmother is somewhere in the kitchen!!! The pan seared salmon and vegetable medley is another winner in my book as well.

I think individuals are always hard on new restaurants in Atlanta. My recommendation is to go and try it for yourself. The service has always been top notch when I have dined there. A few of the comments regarding poor service took place during restaurant week. Please note that ALL participating restaurants were busy that weekend. I've met the owners and they are polite, respectful gentlemen with a vision. I urge all to give this restaurant a try.

Pros: Ambience, Drinks
Cons: Parking

Poor Customer Service/Average Food 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I went to this restaurant earlier this evening with two of my friends. We'd been riding around the city and after being stuck in traffic we decided to try Cafe Circa. My friends and I love trying new restaurants all over Atlanta especially in revitalized areas. Upon entering the restaurant, we were very impressed by the ambiance and decor, so we expected to have a nice time--NOT!! We sat at the bar and ordered our meal as we were told they had reservations so that was fine with us. We place our orders and it took at least 45 minutes to receive our food. I only had an order of calamari and a side of mashed potatoes. Once I received it the calamari was cold and didn't taste the best ( agree with some of the other reviews). My friends ordered the blackened tilapia and wasn't fully satisfied. The main thing was the poor service as the waiters didn't check on us to refill our drinks or even cared to ask how we felt about the food. Basically one of the servers avoided making eye contact with us the rest of our visit.

We requested a comments card and filled it out to specifically direct our concerns about the server. We even asked for the manager and he took nearly 15 minutes after we paid to acknowledge us. He was also very nonchalant and showed poor customer service. I told him that he nor the servers never know who they are patronizing--word of mouth can make or break a newly established business.

I don't plan to attend Cafe Circa in the future.

Pros: Ambiance
Cons: Service

Terrible service, NOT gourmet food. 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I went to Cafe Circa with a group of girls for Atlanta restaurant week on a Tuesday night, expecting good service and a fabulous meal for $25. Unfortunately, Cafe Circa just didn't deliver. The service was extremely slow...we waited 30 minutes after ordering before any of our appetizers arrived and another 30 minutes for our dinner salads. In addition to the poor service, the food was nothing to write home about. Fried plantains were delivered burned and black, calamari was breaded in chicken finger batter and none of the accompanying sauces complimented the appetizers. Their house salad is offered with a "balsamic vinegrette" which we quickly discovered was actually chunky pesto dressing. The main entrees...also not impressive. This place is trying to be gourmet, but no where near it. Don't go.

Small but cool spot! 4 Star Rating - Very good

Great place to get some food - great alternative to the Harlem Bar! Prices are good and the music is chic - stays oen late!

Great Potential, But The Food................! 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I love this little spot on Edgewood Ave. in the up and coming Fourth Ward. I did not feel uncomfortable being a minority, and the staff was very nice. Although somewhat green. And of course anytime Francine Reed is performing, you can count me in. The drinks were very good, even though the poor bartender did not really know what he was doing. We did order some late night snacks, but even the alcohol could not help. I agree with the two previous reviews. But I do see the potential here. The owner needs to fire the kitchen, rewrite the menu, but leave the chocolate wings-but do them correctly, and you will have an all around great spot, and not just for drinks. Hopefully he will hear the cries of his patrons, about the food. If not, well, we know what will happen. Good Luck!

Pros: Great Atmosphere, & Francine Reed!
Cons: Poor Quality Food & Bartenders!
