High Five to Zenni Optical

by tom l.

I got my latest glasses from Zenni just yesterday. I was so happy
with the cheap sunglasses from my last order that I ordered another
pair with no tint. $8 for the glasses, plus $9 for the strong
prescription surcharge, plus $5 for shipping, equals $22 total.

They are great glasses and the frames seem to be the equal of any
other plastic frames I have owned. I got regular index lens material
which resulted in slightly better optical quality than my latest high-
index lenses. The mostly clear plastic frames (with black front
surface) do a good job of minimizing the lenses' apparent thickness.

No more glasses from the eye doctor

by Jenny K.

Ive had a total of 28 pairs come from zenni, this is from my immediate family and a sister-in-law. Weve had no problems, except one pair of memory titanium that broke, i ordered a replacement frame for 1/2 price the cost(7 or 8 bucks) they provided the screwdriver to change the lenses. Im nothing but happy. No more glasses from the eye doctor.

Spending Smart with Zenni Optical

by Susan S.

If I told you that you could get glasses for $30 a pair, you would think that was an incredible deal. But would you believe me if I told you that you could actually get glasses for $8 a pair? You can! I saw some great reviews on this site from other great bloggers HERE and HERE, and decided that I needed to give this company a try. Ive had glasses since I was eight, and it has always been a financial burden. My eyes have a very high prescription and glasses have always cost me more than $200 because of the special lenses that I need.

I thought there was no way I would get them cheap, but I did. My glasses cost me under $40, and that is only because I had to get special lenses. Now if your eyes arent as bad as mine, then you can get your glasses for only $8. But even if you do have bad eyes, you can still pay a fraction of what you would pay by going to the eye doctor.

I received my glasses a few days before we moved and have been very happy. They are just like the glasses in the doctors office. If you think you will be getting some cheap spin-off, youre wrong. They are great quality, and I easily would have spent over $200 to get these lenses and frames at the eye doctor.

You do need to know your prescription to order, and you also need to know what looks good on you. Thats the big drawback: you cant try them before you buy them. Another drawback is that you dont have someone to adjust them on your face. You will have to do any and all adjusting if the frames dont exactly work right on your face. But for $8, who can really complain?

If you have ordered glasses from Zenni Optical, I would love to hear your feedback. This is such an easy and awesome way to save some money!

Great online optical retailer

by Caligal K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,385

Yes, I ordered prescription glasses from this place. I paid under 30 bucks for scratch resistant, glare proof, super cute frames with an accurate prescription lens. This might seem scary to some people, but I had a great experience & saved a ton of money. My only issue is the slooowww shipping & lack of communcation.

Best Deals and Good Service

by SueS

Oh Bliss! Four new pairs of progressives from Zenni in under two
weeks!! I had always bought rimless
but I decided to try half-rims this time, and I haven't been
disappointed. And all for under US$234. I'm now the proud owner of
nine pairs of Zenni glasses, plus my sons each have a pair too. I am
a Zenni fan for life!

Two Complaints I have

by BlessedbyChrist

This is a unique opportunity to purchase inexpensive eyewear. For the great prices, you'll have to compromise on when you'll receive them. Here in NC, it took the full 21 days to receive my order for two sets (framed and frameless pr) of eyeglasses. Also, beware if you order frameless eyeglasses...the lenses are very THICK - 2-3x thicker (and yes less expensive) than the ones from Lenscrafters.I will end up having to get another pair from Lenscrafters because my Zenni pair (frameless pr) are just too magnifying, heavy, and thick to wear - there is a YouTube video showing this effect.
I've gotten accustomed to light lenses, and only wanted the prescribed lens strength- not magnifying glasses, or hurting eyes and headache to wear them.

Pros: Price, frame quality

Cons: Length of shipping time, and thick/magnifying lenses

10 day glasses for less

by Mazdat

Fantastic company!! I received my Zenni Optical memory titanium prescription eye glasses IN 10 DAYS of placing my order!!! After reading other reviews describing up to three weeks or even longer before delivery I was prepared to wait for a long wait. I placed the order on Saturday July 11, 2009 and I got an email on July 17 saying they were shipped. Four days later the eye glasses arrived. They are great glasses, quality is good, they fit fine, prescription is perfect as far as I can see (pun intended), anti-reflection coating works, and I?m a satisfied customer.

Pros: Great Price, fast shipping, good quality

Cons: Previous poor reviews

If it Quacks like a Duck and Walks like a Duck...

by geeterdave

I ordered a pair from them on 0ct 15th 2008 for my elderly father. As of today I have not received them.
I was informed on the 27th of October that my order was shipped from China via email. On November 7th, I was told about a customs hold was delaying my order. I received an email response stating my order was stalled in customs and should be released within a week to ten days. The email also stated the following:
??All of our shipments are made 1st class, USPS. When the mailing label is created with the US Postal Service software, a tracking number is generated, and automatically emailed to you at the address you entered on the order form?.? I never received a tracking number. A week later, I called Zenni Optical. After great amount of wait time, I was told by a rep the order has been released and I should expect delivery in 3 to 5 days. After a week of no merchandise, I called again only to get a recorded message on stating that there are no reps available and to leave a voice message. This was impossible because the voice mail box was full. After sending numerous of emails, I did receive this response ??There are lots of orders been delayed due to the custom hold, and after the release we are now working extra hours to expedite the delivery. And please be assured that you can receive your order around Thanks Giving Days?? Thanksgiving day has come and gone and still no glasses. Because I have never received a tracking number, I tend to believe my order has not even been sent. As of today, I have no glasses! I had an invoice of $100.00. The lack of communication and the non delivery of goods leaves a queasy feeling in my gut. Rip Off? I don?t know, but if it sounds like a duck?. I am beginning to regret not going to a brick and mortar store. I may have paid more but at least I can talk to the people face to face.

Pros: Cheap Glasses Offered

Cons: Poor Customer service, if you can actually get through. Will not respond to emails.

Too Good to be True.... because it is a RIP OFF.

by andreaaaaaaa

Sure, this place might be great if you aren't that near/farsighted and don't care about quality or customer service. However, if you are blinder than average (I am a -9 or so) then DON'T GO HERE. The pupilarry distance seems to be just cut in half and applied to each one. So let's say you have a PD of 60, but that your left eye is 31 and your right eye is 29. Well, good ol' Zenni Optical will stick a 30 in each lense and send you on your way. I got my glasses back, after forking over the extra $40 for high index (in other words, thin as possible lenses), and not only had the warped "fishbowl" effect PERMANENTLY, thanks to the PD being applied incorrectly, but also THE LENSES DID NOT EVEN FIT TO THE SHAPE OF THE FRAME. I had gaping holes in the center corners where the frame had more of a cateye shape and the lense was more of an oval. When I attempted to e-mail them, I never got a response. When I called them, I sat on hold for 2 hours ticking down from caller number 10 to caller number 2, and then no one ever ever answered. I called several times and nhever reached a person. Sometimes it was even a busy signal! And do you know why? Because according to some other consumer reports I have read, THEY ARE RUN OUT OF SOMEONE'S GARAGE. And when you read the fine print, they only will give you a 50% refund anyway, and there is NO insurance or guarantee at ALL. I ended yp having to go to a real place and spend $300 to have real lenses put in the frames, after suffering from warped vision for weeks on end. Trust me, just spend the cash on the real thing and forget about this too-good-to-be-true operation. It is just that: not true!

Pros: cheap

Cons: you get what you pay for, and then there is no way to reach anyone for customer service.

$8 glasses that are EXACTLY the same as my $290 ones

by rubabega

My last optometrist visit resulted in a new prescription that cost me $290 for a new pair of designer frames, "because your prescription is a bit unutual". So my left eye is legally blind and my right eye is almost 20/20, big deal! Sigh. While wearing my $290 frames, I googled "cheap designer glasses" - and that's how I found Zenni Optical.

I must had browsed their website for several days before I narrowed down my choices to 3 frames. SO MANY DIFFERENT FRAMES TO CHOOSE FROM!! The photos all looked beautiful, sturdy, and EXACTLY like the "designer frames" that cost me $290. My final decision varied between $8 - 12 for the frames and lenses, plus $5/pair for anti-glare coating (I stare at the computer screen for about 10 hours a day). Shipping was about $7.

I paid a little over $50 for 3 pairs of glasses.

Turn-around time for production and shipping is 2-3 weeks. I emailed and asked them where exactly do they make their glasses? They replied a day later, "China". Makes perfect sense - my friends in China pays about $15 a pair there. Their problem is that they're never really sure about the prescription, since ANY optometrist in China will tell you that your prescription is wrong, just to get you to buy a new pair of glasses. Makes me a bit weary...

...3 weeks later, my order from Zenni Optical arrived - from their address in California. There was some Chinese scribbling on the envelope - so it DID came from China!

The glasses feel absolutely fantastic. They fit well, the prescription feels EXACTLY like my $290 glasses, and they're just look SO COOL!!! But I'm still not convinced, so I took them to LensCrafters along with my $290 glasses and a copy of my prescription. "They're exactly the same, miss", the clerk told me.

So I did just pay $50 for 3 pairs of glasses that would otherwise cost me $870. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Pros: QUALITY and selection, and the price just CANNOT be beat

Cons: turn-around time takes a little longer than the promised 2-3 weeks

Two Thumbs Up - Great Job www.ZenniOptical dot com!

by frankstone

After searching for a more reasonable cost pair of glasses for my wife, I came across a site reviewing e-retailers of eyeglasses. After I read all the posts and checked into each site, I decide to order from www.ZenniOptical com because of the reviews and prices. I was glad to have found a site with good consumer information on buying eyeglasses online. I am a very satisfied customer, in fact, I am ordering two more pair of glasses this weekend. Stay tuned for the new Review ...

Pros: Great value, fast service, nice selections

Cons: can't try on
