I really like this place. I find it similar to the Market Basket store(s) in Bergen County. The Fairway Markets also try to have that eclectic ambiance. The prime attraction of Trader Joes for me is it's compact size and how efficiently they check you out. The fresh produce and many organic and one of a kind items that will have your party guests asking for your recipe. I like to get the appetizer types items, mostly frozen, like the egg, shrimp, or chicken rolls and shumai, unique pizzas. This is one of the rare places where I don't mind buying frozen seafood. They have these perfect stuffed salmon portions that you can keep in case you need a quick meal. They also have these killer cookies - "Dunkers" I think they call them, that will be a big hit in the office coffee break room!

I sense this place has a mellow, post-hippie vibe about it. The kind of partnership that got Ben and Jerrys going. The staff seems friendly - it's like shopping at a commune's cooperative - maybe they are a cult? LOL No, but it's rare to find people that don't perform like they hate their jobs. I had asked if they have any of their 99 cent TJ bags left, and the man cashing me out stopped and went all the way in the back to check! Maybe it's just the trademark tropical shirts they wear. If there was a spiritual opposite of the Costco/Walmart shopping experience, this is it. Go once and you might be hooked on those addictive cookie dunkers, that special coffee blend, or the tasty frozen food items that are not available any where else.

I'm a huge TJ's fan in general, and this location is my favorite. Even on weekends, the lines never get long. This TJ's has a larger floorplan than most I've been to, so you don't have to fight to get through the aisles, even on a Saturday. Or, at least not as much. It also has a bigger produce section than other TJ's (though still pretty modest. The star of the show is the frozen section, and maybe the cheeses (nowhere better to get cheap, quality cheese). I love that, unlike most supermarkets, TJ's offers products without mystery ingredients. Even the spices are listed on the labels. The prices are unbeatable for the quality that you get. Many products offer a choice of conventional or organic, and the prices for both are reasonable. Their store-brand chocolate is phenomenal. Unlike a supermarket, every product in the aisles is hand-picked (not to say that there aren't a few misses, but most are hits). Anything you don't like, you can return!

This is a whole different type of grocery store. They have such a wide variety of organic items and their shelves are always well stocked. They offer samples quite often so you may have the opportunity to taste some of their gourmet treats on the spot. The staff is great - they actually seem to like to work there. The lines can get long on weekends, but not too bad during other times.
