I've been visiting Bird Rock Surf Shop for the last year or so. So far, I have mainly stocked up on flip flops, sweatshirts, and women's apparel. They have a great collection of extremely comfortable and stylish casual wear. My favorite thing about the shop is that there is always a friendly face to welcome you to the store and help you out with anything you may need. I typically go in there to see what new inventory they have, and end up staying a bit chatting with my neighbors and the helpful staff. Great local surf shop.

I have been surfing this area for 40 years, and it is great to see a couple of nice guys starting a neighborhood business.My brother lives right down the street, and after a morning session,and a little lunch we took a walk up La Jolla Blvd., and wandered into Bird Rock Surf Shop. The shop is small, but very organized, neat, and clean. They have a good selection of boards, clothes, and accessories. The staff was super friendly, and after talking surf for a while we purchased a couple shirts, and talked some more. My sister-law loves trhis place.

I recently had BR Surf shop shape a board for me so I can have a stick when I'm visiting from Austin. I grew up in SD and it's nice to support some budding local entrepreneurs that take pride, and have passion in what they do. My wife loves the shop, too. Check out the candles that smell like surfwax...Killer!

Having lived in Bird Rock for 25 year I have been a loyal customer at Mitch's Surf shop for a long long time. Recently I discovered a boutique surf shop right in my own back yard. Bird Rock Surf, although a little hard to find, is the cutest boutique style surf shop I have been to in a long time. Even though the shop is a little on the smaller side, this place had it all. The shop just extended its retail space by adding a boardroom, which my husband loved!! Long story short I have found my new surf shop and its name is Bird Rock Surf.

The shop has a great selection of both men and womens fashion. For me it was great to find a shop where actually someone cared about what I was looking for and not try to upsell me on product I didn't need nor want.
Plus the boys that work there are too hard on the eyes either!!
A definite must if your in the La Jolla area

BEST SHOP IN SAN DIEGO

This small boutique surf shop in Bird Rock, La Jolla was the best shopping experience we had while in San Diego. Being locally owned the shop and staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and most importantly honest. If they couldn't help my family they would sure find someone who could. I out fitted my husband, daughter and two sons with all the newest surf fashions. They also offered a full rental program along with surf lessons / instructors. My boys were thrilled to finally atempt surfing and with their top notch staff I had no worries that my children were in good hands. Every penny was well spent!
THIS SHOP HAD IT ALL! Do yourself a favor, stop in a see for your self.
