The National is fine dining if you're not used to REAL fine dining. It's also to expensive for the quality of food. I had heard that The National was not very good but I decided to try it for myself, needless to say I was disappointed. The service was poor, and the food was not good. It wasn't fresh. I'm a graduate of Johnson and Wales, one of the top culinary schools in the country, and I'm always willing to support local business, but my friends The National is not worth your time or money. Again, poor service, and poor quality/tasting food was my experience, oh and did I mention that it's WAY OVERPRICED. It's not "fine" dining. Where is Melissa Clegg when we need her?!

A new restaurant in Athens, The National takes fine dining to a whole new level. With Hugh Acheson, chef of the acclaimed Five & Ten, the menu provides a wide variety of choices -- everything from duck breast to fresh quail to sweet potato bisque and more. The ambiance is relaxing, with great music and interior design. I went with a group of friends looking for a sophisticated dining experience, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the prices are reasonable for the quality of food that you get. You won't be sorry you splurged for this meal, it is certainly worth it.
