I have been given partial denial for repairs on my vehicle that are the result of indirect damage from a car accident on 3/29/11. The damaged part on my car is the engine control module, which in Mitsubishis, is not a part that usually ever has to be replaced. I have spoken to all 12 Southern california Mitsubishi dealerships from San Diego all the way up to Long Beach, and not one had sold one of these parts in more than two years, if ever. They also all say that this is a very reliable part in an eclipse, but that the violent jolt of the impact can cause serious damage in computer parts like these, and that there is no way that the damage was a coincidence. The adjuster is saying that it is a coincidence that the control module was damaged at the time of the accident, and that it was just mechanical failure. He actually told me on the phone that, "we shouldn't have to pay for that, its expensive!" It took me 25 days from the first and last time that I spoke to my first adjuster John Hearst to get ahold of anyone at Wawanesa regarding my claim, no one would even return my messages. My car has been sitting in the shop in pieces for 20 days.. in pieces just sitting there. It took 13 days of the car sitting in pieces to even get the first partial denial. The manager of the collision center that my car is at has taken over handling my claim on their end, and completely backs me up. The adjuster says that he is denying this repair "based on my opinion, and my opinion is final unless you decide to take it to the next level." Well, I am a licensed insurance agent working for Farmers Insurance, and I know my rights, and have proceeded to take this matter to the next level because this has definitely reached bad faith claim status. All that I asked was to be treated fairly and have my car restored to the same condition it was before the accident, which is my right as stated in my Wawanesa Policy. Neither has happened with this company.

We have been with Wawanesa past four years. Never had any claims till few months ago minor fender/bender where they paid the other driver for property damage less than 1800 dollars for car repairs. Our vehicle was not damaged and no personal injuries. Just received my policy renewal and noticed that they jacked up the policy over 50% and when I called to find out why I was told that the company have paid many claims this year in California that is why they have increased the rates. My policy for 4 cars/drivers had increased from $3100/year to $4750/year I am shopping for other companies so far few that I got a quote from have been less than what these IDIOTS are ripping off customers. Stay away from this company they might give you a lower rate to start with than they will stick it up to you. You can do much better with other reputable companies.

This, in addition to surly customer service, has me currently getting quotes from other insurance providers. I will be canceling my policy in the next two weeks and taking my business elsewhere. This is beyond ridiculous. Shame on you, Wawanesa!

in my first venture into your company a phone call was made to let your company be notified that work on my car that held out my insurance acceptance been verified has been acknowledged now i'm unsure that ill rece

ive my payment sent $235.00 + is going to be sent back to me a full years payment. i find it a very upsetting not getting a reply after leaving messages to monica ext. 5307 will not call back im insured as far as you have excepted my money thank you and have a nice day.

A minor accident almost doubled our rates - even though we had a spotless record with Wawanesa for about 10 years. The phone rep then told us "Good luck getting a better rate somewhere else!" I'm happy to say that I did. The original low rates were nice, but the customer service was terrible!!

In another incident, ANOTHER driver hit me and the Wawanesa rep asked me if I was going to call the other insurance company and take care of it myself! Sometimes saving money is NOT worth the cost of service.

I love Wawanesa's low price for Auto insurance, half the price of other companies.
Years ago I discovered Wawanesa on the State of California Insurance Commissioners web site. Wawanesa was listed as #2 for lowest auto rates, USAA was #1, at the time USAA only sold to Military Officers.
I checked with the state, for complaints they rated #2 behind USAA. I never had to file a claim, so I have no personal experance.
Over the years they have saved me hundreds of dollars. My rate for a year of full coverage on two cars is $676.

My experience with Wananesa is so abhorrent that I felt compelled to write my first review about a company. Sure, their quotes seem really enticing at first, but it's an all too familiar "bait and switch" scheme which I am unfortunate enough to find out the hard way. After submitting my application by mail with an enclosed check, a representative called me back and told me the adjusted quote was increased by nearly $200 on top of the changes in premium that I have selected and taken into account. I asked if he could review my application and justify the increase in price or offer me a lower quote, and he told me "this is not a negotiation, our rate is fixed." I was shocked by the level of professionalism and customer service, he was not only rude but borderline obnoxious! So I told him immediately to cancel my application. To add insult to injury, when I checked my bank account, wawanesa have already cashed my application check! I am not sure if this is part of their "application process" but taking your money first then informing you of a change in your premium just doesn't sit right by me. So now, I'm more than a grand short in cash, and have to wait for a refund check from wawanesa or my next paycheck before I can renew my insurance with my current provider. For those of you who've had good experiences with wawanesa, lucky you. But for those of you who are considering wawanesa as a cheaper alternative, I'd stay away from this company and stay with the bigger trusted companies.

If you are a driver getting insurance for the first time, it might be expensive, but if you have been driving for 2 years with a clean record, it is impressively lower.

I am very pleased with this insurance company. We have never encountered a problem with a claim. They have excellent customer service and very reasonable prices.

Our auto broker recommended this insurance company because he had them and had to use them after an auto accident. We then had to use the service after years of paying our insurance. The claims department was fast and efficient. I have also added my home. So far no other company can beat their prices.
