When we first were seated, the waitress asked if my wife wanted a margarita or beer or something. She declined because she didn??t feel like indulging. She also happens to be pregnant with twins, but that wasn??t why she demurred.

The waitress came back later and told us that her cow-orkers were ribbing her about offering alcohol to the pregnant lady. Apparently, it was this girl??s first week waitressing solo and they were teasing her for making a ??rookie? mistake.

So a bit later, my wife decided to make her feel better and explained that in the third trimester, it isn??t a big deal to have a drink. It??s been done for millenia and the kids are just fine. Also, the time when you might possibly need to be more careful is before you usually start to show anyway and, since assuming a woman is pregnant is a huge f-up, it was no big deal that she asked if my wife wanted a drink. Besides, since the belly was below the table for the most part, my wife took it as a compliment. =)

Foodwise, we started with some stuffed jalapeos. They were huge. And tasty. It took my DW six bites to eat just one.

She then had an enormous Chicken Fried Steak with the single largest pile of mashed potatoes I??ve ever seen served at a restaurant. Add in a grilled corn-on-the-cob and she had enough food for three. (Good thing, too; remember the twins I mentioned above? =)

I had the El Paso ?? an 8 oz. steak with sauted mushrooms and a good peppercorn sauce, a cheese enchilada, a beef enchilada, rice, beans, and pico.

Top it all off with some Texas-shaped honey-cornbred and we had more food than we could ever eat.

A funny thing happened on the way to satiety, however: they initially brought out our appetizer and her CFS but not my plate. We were a bit confused about this but DW kept her plate and we started in on that while we waited for my dinner to come out.

Even though we were more amused than anything by this, the manager came by and apologized profusely for the mix-up. Twice. He even gave us his card and comped out appetizer without us ever giving a hint we were upset about anything.

Love and War in Texas offers gigantic portions of good food in a Texas-friendly atmosphere. The waitstaff is attentive and polite. The management is even overly conscientious.

Go check it out. They rock and we will definitely be going back.

Food was good but it was a bit pricey. The atmosphere was fairly dead when I went in. The server was not friendly and he kept forgetting to bring our items we have requested. I wouldn't recommend taking a date to this restuarant.

I've been a frequent 'guest' at LNW in Plano for the past 10 years - Great food and local C&W entertainment. The patio is a must on a Friday or Saturday night - Bring the kids because this is a family friendly joint.

Great Texas theme restaurant with a terrific atmosphere! Eat out on the patio and catch a live Texas music act, and you will feel like you're in the Hill Country! The food has average pricing, but above-average quality and selections. For something delicious and different, try Barbara Bush's deep-fried green beans or Wild Boar Quesadillas. There is a good enough variety that everyone should see something they'll love. Privately owned by folks who care about your experience.

Great food. They have burgers, plates of ribs or chicken. Very friendly wait staff and usually some local talent provides live music. Sundays are all you can eat Beef Ribs!!

For all you cowboys and cowgirls out there, this is the place to try. The food is great and the service very efficient. And I know you will
enjoy the western music on the weekends.
