•
Children 6 weeks to 3 years old: Light and Dark, plus the Sky and Weather

Through shadow play, experiments with flashlights, observing the Sun and more, infants and toddlers will enjoy learning about light and dark this month. Infants continue sensory development by looking at contrasting patterns and at objects that are clearly defined by sharp edges and bright colors, while toddlers will build on their understanding of the light and dark concepts with play around daytime and nighttime. The older Discovery Preschool children will turn their attention to the sky as they learn about weather, the Moon, the Sun, and stars.

Children 4–5 years old: Transportation, Healthy Bodies, and Winter

For children in the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms, January is filled with variety! They’ll begin by learning about transportation and studying how things get from “here” to “there.” A few weeks later, the focus will shift to health and bodies, with an emphasis placed on how to make good choices for a growing body. Towards the end of the month, children will be introduced to the transformative nature of the winter season and learn how to dress and take care of themselves when it’s cold outside.

My son went to Knowledge Beginnings for two and a half months. When he started he was 7 months old. The biggest problem with the set-up in the infant room was that there was not a separate room for sleeping. Enrollment fluctuated and sometimes there were as much as 8 babies in the room. They even combined rooms, so there were "wobblers" in the room too for a period of time. It was loud and overstimulating and I don't think my son got enough sleep. Also, there was a change of staffing and for a little while it was very inconsistent. The best thing about the facility was that it was super flexible. We only needed a short term placement, and he could enroll and withdrawal whenever we needed with no problem. I think this daycare center would be better for older children who can benefit more from a curriculum. I was never concerned about my son's safety or the cleanliness of the facility. It also did reassure me that I could visit him whenever I wanted to, and there were extra staff there to provide breaks and back up.

Everthing else is OK except nap time is too long. my kid doesn't regularly take nap since he was 3 years old. He want play instead of laying on his bed with his eyes open.

I am a pleased parent after enrolling my children in Knowledge Beginnings. The facility itself is very nice...the atmosphere is bright, clean, colorful, and spacious. The teachers are warm and caring. The vibe in the classrooms is orderly but the children seem to be having fun. And I am amazed at how much my children are learning. They come home all excited about the curriculum and eager to go back the next day. I highly recommend this school.
