I definitely do not recommend pawning or selling anything at Shoot and Whittle Pawn and Gun in Plano if you want a reasonable/fair offer (based upon my experience).

About 10 days ago I came in to pawn my gun (which I had pawned before at two other places which gave me $150 for my gun), and Shoot and Whittle (S&W) offered me $70 to pawn the gun after looking on the Internet (which the other pawn shops did as well.) I told the man at the front that the last two places I went offered me $150 (I'm sure he hears this kind of thing all the time and didn't believe me) for the gun. He said the ol' line I've heard before from many pawn shops or salesmen after telling them you've got a better deal elsewhere: "Well, you should go there then". I explained that the other pawn shops were in Irving and Frisco and that I live in Plano (I travel around a lot), and that S&W was much closer to me at the time or else I would go there. He still said that he could only offer $70. I told him I was telling the truth, and that I'm sure he does hear this kind of thing a lot. He still said only $70 he could offer.

I left S&W pawn shop upset and wondering why he only offered HALF ($70) of what the other 2 pawn shops gave me within the last two months ($150).

These other two Pawn shops that gave me $150 for my gun are:

Frisco Jewelry & Loan Inc
8901 West Main Street Frisco, TX 75034
(972) 335-1002
&
A-Z Pawn shop
827 E Irving Blvd, Irving, TX 75060
(972) 438-9442

After I left S&W I went a few blocks up to Plano Pawn Shop:1202 K Ave. Plano TX 75074 and went in to show them my gun and told them I wanted to pawn it. He asked "How much were you looking to get for it, and I replied: "The last two places I pawned the gun gave me $150, so $150. After looking on the Internet (like S&W did also), he said he could do $125. I told him that would be fine. That was still much better (which was 44% more than S&W offered me) than S&W.

I later came back in to show the man at the front desk my pawn ticket from Plano Pawn Shop. I wanted to show him that a few blocks up they gave me $125 when he offered $70. He was very defensive about me approaching him (no one likes being called out) and then some other guy jumped in also and started defending him in the price that his co-worker offered. I told them that they were practicing bad business. Thay said: "Have a great day!!" (Sarcastically of course.) Thats called pride.

S&W Pawn is practicing bad business based upon the last 3 pawns that I have done for the same gun. $150 from one, $150 from another, and $125 from the most recent. Why then did Shoot and Whittle Pawn only offer $70 when all the other pawn shops have Internet also and know the current prices? Why did the man at S&W not suck up his pride and admit that he had offered a terrible price after being shown the pawn slip from down the street?

Sounds like Shoot and Whittle Pawn is taking advantage of the vulnerable.

This locally owned pawn shop specializes in guns and knives. You will find a wide variety of both here. They also have jewelry, cameras, computers and other items for sale.
