Went to the salon this past weekend for a hair trial for my June wedding. I met with Kathy and she was very nice and did a good job on my hair. The way my hair looked was just how I asked for itthen the problems began. When she attached my headpiece (a handmade pearl tiara) she broke 2 pieces off. She kept saying that the pearls needed to stand up straighter and kept pushing them forward, but she just had the headband angled wrong she told me just to super glue it. It was an $80 crown that was handmade, it cant just be super glued.
Next issue is I have myself and 4 bridesmaids who need our hair done by 10am the morning of my wedding. When I booked the appointment the receptionist Elaine said that it would be Kathy (the stylist) and a couple assistants. When the appointment was over, I asked Kathy how many people would be working on usshe told me just her. There is no way she could do all 5 of us that morning before 10am (Unless we wanted to start at 5am, which is ridiculous and not possible). I asked that I be refunded my $50 deposit since they could not provide the service that I agreed to, and also since I would need to have my headpiece repaired or replaced. They said it was against their policy to refund a deposit but the owner would give me a call the next day to discuss it. Of course she didnt, so I called the next day and the owner would not even get on the phone with meElaine the receptionist relayed everything she said. They said they would refund $30 of the $50 deposit, which I said was not acceptable. I was hoping since they could not provide the service I thought I was going to receive and out of good faith for damaging my personal property, that we could settle this amicably.
(Also, they claim to have the lowest prices for expert work but they charge $65 for a trial and leading competitors in the area only charge $30.) Basically they are nice until there is a problem, then they treat you like crap and refuse to rectify the situation. Not good business practice and unprofessional.
