Stratosphere has the best roller coaster and high thrill rides ever. The big shot gives you the shakes for at least 10 minutes after you get off the ride. If you want a thrill, go up there and get scared off your pants!

Awesome place for LV!
by LeeAnna F.
My family and I stayed at the stratosphere in August 2008. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the pool was gorgeous, the room was acceptable for the limited time we spent in it, the casino was enjoyable, the view from the top of the tower was the best in all of Vegas, and the buffet was delicious. The rides were thrilling and the there was a plethora of restaurants to choose from right on location. There was also a whole floor of shopping and there are some neat shows there. And of course, the prices were a fabulous deal for a budget Vegas getaway. We also found the atmosphere to be more relaxed and less hectic than the hotels in the middle of the strip, which was nice to come back to after being in the chaos all day. As far as the location, it is a bit out of the way but the double decker buses stop right out front which was convenient and only $5/ person for 24 hours. We were certainly satisfied with our accommodations and we will be returning this August for another stay at the Stratosphere.

As with any casino this place has lots of games and as any hotel in vegas lots of rooms. They usually have pretty good deals for rooms so check early and book early if you plan on visiting. If you are scared of heights it may not be the best idea to go to the top of the Stratosphere, but then again it may be just the thing you need to overcome that fear. With a host of thrill rides at the top of 100 floors overlooking Las Vegas, it's a wild ride. They have the Big Shot, which shoots you up and drops you so quick you may not realize what happened, the roller coaster, and the newer Insanity ride that has you cradled over the side of the tower spinning you. They also have dining options all around, including the top of the world restaurant at the top (romantic get away spot maybe?). Recommendations: visit the top if you've never seen Vegas that way, and maybe try a ride while you're up there. Overall it's a pretty unique spot to check on in Vegas and it's recommended you visit at least once

The Sh-a-t-osphere
by Steve K.
The Sh-a-t-osphere, as my friends and I lovingly refer to it, was actually a really nice/fun place to stay! I heard alot of negative things about the front desk and the employees all together.. but we were met with nothing but kind folks and big smiles! The pool was beautiful and well kept and the drinks were really yummy! And for the price?! My goodness... its so cheap to stay there!
The only downside is that its WAY at the end of the strip. And anyone who's stayed that far down wind of the strip knows that once you leave the hotel... the entire area smells like one gigantic fart. Its so disgusting.
But the price was right (only like $70/night) the buffet SUCKED and made us all a little sick, but its a cool place, fun times, fun rides at the top and great views! GO THERE! Just bring ur nose plugs.. im tellin ya! YUCK!

I liked the hotel's slot machine choices and the coaster rides they have on top. The rooms were not bad and my overall stay was good. I do not know how my friends got me on one since I am scared of heights but it was worth it to say I have been on it. I would stay again just for the experience.

We stayed at the Stratosphere in October 2007. We were disapointed with our room. It had no view except a wall. The smoked filled lobby was a bit much. The dinner buffet was good though.

The best thing going for this Hotel is the view. It is to far off the beaten path. The food was okay the rooms not so much. The vegas show was alright. Next time we will stay closer to everything else because we don't bring a vehicle and the taxi drivers are crazy.

We loved staying at the stratosphere. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms were nice and clean and the food at the restaurants delicious. We loved getting discounts on the tower rides as stratosphere guests and enjoyed the slot machines, ambience and fun of the casino. We won a lot in roulet here and will definitely stay there in our next trip to Vegas

We stayed there as we were attracted by the charm of staying in the tallest tower west of Mississippi but while the casino and rides are great, they should really work up on the rooms. We had a room with twin queen beds but there werent enough towels in the bathroom plus they left only one soap for both shower and basin. The rooms are large and spacious but they were without microwave or a refrigerator and we paid a quite high price of $105 per day.

The Stratosphere is located on the northern end of the strip. The location in general isn't the best, but it's a fun place to check out. You can ride up the elevator to the top of the tower and go on some rides. One of them is a roller coaster around the tower and the other shoots you straight up. Either way, it's a thrill just to be on a ride that high up.

Scary to be that high, but really neat!

I hate heights, but my wife dragged me up the tower in this place. You can see over the entire Las Vegas strip, and those hotels that are enormous look miniature from this height. Worth seeing it, but if you are afraid of heights like I am, you may pay to get into the tower and turn right back around and head down!

One of the tallest buildings in Las Vegas that you can actually go all the way up without a fee. The view from the top is spectacular. They even have a roller coaster ride at the very top! How amazing is that? This has to be one of the places you have to check out in Las Vegas.

Tallest point in Las Vegas

We went to the Stratosphere tower, which allows you to overlook the strip and take in the view of all of the other casinos and hotels. It's quite breathtaking and really gives you a serene spot to look out on the bustling Vegas strip. You do pay to get into the tower and you have to take special elevators. The casino also has a few good restaurants, and I believe there is even one at the top of the tower, though we didn't eat there. Definitely worth checking out!

I could hear the roller coaster from my room.not very pleasant. The room itself wasnt very impressive. However, the service here was pretty good (though the friends we stayed with had some complaints about them). The food here was amazing as well. This is a good place because it is surprisingly inexpensive.

Although I did not stay at the Stratosphere, I did take the walk so I could check out the observation deck and the rides. Believe me, it was a long walk to get there! You had to pay to get up to the top and then you paid to get on the rides. Unfortunately the rollar coaster was broke down when I was visiting (which they did not inform us of while still on the ground) but the big shot was open and what an awesome ride! A must-do!! There is also a restaurant and gift shop at the top.

The Stratosphere Hotel provides good value for your money. The only reason I can't give it five stars is the location. It's on the very end of the strip, and unless a 1-2 mile walk is on your agenda you have to use a cab to get around (the trolley takes forever!). The cost trade out is worth the inconvenience of the location. The check in/out process was quick and painless and our room was clean and did not smell smokey at all, unlike other non-smoking rooms I have stayed in in Vegas.

Top of the world

Spent two captivating nights in the Stratosphere and have only positive experiences. The decor is typical Vegas casino. I got a really cheap deal of Hotels.com for two nights. The best part of this hotel are the thrill rides on top. Four breathtaking rides make you dangle almost horzontally 1000 feet above the glittering city or shoot you head first down a chute and leave you suspended in mid air over the lights of Vegas. Ideal place to enjoy Vegas.... you could literally spend a good three hours of fun without stepping out of your hotel!!
Highly recommended.

The stratosphere is located at the very far end of the Vegas strip. This makes it almost impossible to walk to from anything on the strip. It is too far away from everything. With this being said, the stratosphere offers very competetive rates to get people to stay here. It boasts having one of 2 towers in Las vegas that you can go to the top of and view the strip. Once you get to the top, you can also ride on different rides that put you at the top of the tower. It is worth visiting, find a cab or the bus and go see it.

The Stratosphere is a great hotel and casino. We had some of the friendliest dealers in their casino than we had anywhere else in Vegas. As for our room, it was very nice. The towells were small and the water pressure wasnt great. But those seem to be typical complaints of all hotels. Its like its own city, with the casino, various restaurants and mini mall on the 2nd floor. The rides at the top of the tower were awesome!

The pictures of the space needle look neat, and they lead you to believe you stay there. You do not stay there. You stay in a run of the mill hotel next door. Nothing fancy. While we were there, the pool was under construction for part of the time so the hours were restricted. The casino is fairly decent, though we trekked so far down to get to the strip, that we didn't spend much time there. The hotel is at the very end of the strip, very far away from the other big hitter hotels. The lower price probably reflects this. It's ok, but for Vegas, I wouldn't stay here again.

I have stayed at the Stratosphere several times. Most occasions it has been fine. The rooms are standard 3 star rooms. One occasion I stayed at the Stratosphere and the room was completely unsatisfactory. The toilet constantly made noise, the walls were very thin, and the air conditioner in the room was extremely loud. After relaying my complaint to the staff I was given a discounted rate for an entire year. On another occasion I had pre-paid for my room, $25/night. That turned out to be the best deal, as when I arrived in the middle of the night, the only room available was the Presidential Suite! So, for $25/night I was given an incredible suite. It is a bit of a drive to the central strip, but as long as you have a car it is not bad. If you don't have a car, I 'd choose somewhere else to stay.

The Stratosphere tower is pretty cool. Its the higest building in vegas so i provides one of the best views of vegas. The rides on the top are the best. I recommend that you get the unlimited ride pass so that you can ride all the rides as many times as you want. The big shot ride is the coolest. It scary to be on the top but to get shot up 200ft in the air is way scary. It just tons of fun.

The view at the top of the Stratosphere is cool, but not exactly breath taking. You get to really see how the Strip and the surrounding area is set up. You also get to really take in how isolated the whole city is. The ride adds to that feeling quite a bit. You get shot up in there air and all you see is desert and mountain. It wasn't super expensive, so probably worth a trip if you haven't been yet.

Accomodations were fine, but there was an odd odor in the room. The swimming pool is on the roof, and is somewhat in the shade of the Stratosphere tower. The elevator ride up the tower is fast and there is an employee aboard to tell you all the cool fast elevator facts. View from up top is breathtaking. Was very happy with their diner.
PROS: Unique tower and elevator ride and view of the Vegas Strip
CONS: talk about long long hallways!

We recently visited the Stratosphere and what a nightmare it was. We were in line for 48 minutes to get to the top so we could show our toddler the beautiful breathtaking city Las Vegas really is but first we had to wind around this line and then they are taking pictures of people before heading up to the elevator why not start a different line for those that DO want a picture. It was beyond crazy, kids were restless, parents frustrated and then there were the drunks that were very rude and behaving like the animals that they truly are.

There is a lot going on at this place. Their Sunday brunch buffet was incredible, of course for the amount we paid, we didn't expect much less. They serve champagne and mimosa's which are awesome. They do bombard you with their timeshare deals, and we did take the bait, because we had just gotten off the plane, it was 8 a.m. and we had about 2 hours sleep, so we could of signed our life away and not cared. The 2 hours for the time share was a total waste of time, but we did get free tickets for a show, free buffets, and we paid $30 for one of those big crystals and had our faces engraved in it. Now that was great. It is my favorite souvineir from Vegas! The rooms are good, but make sure you stay in the main tower. The shops are good and they open pretty early, there is a McDonalds up there too and they serve $1 egg mcmuffin's. I wouldn't recommend staying there if you don't have a rental, because I believe it is 4 miles to get to the other end of the strip, and for the love of God, don't take the trolley, unless you want a serious lung condition by the time you get off. But that's not a Strat thing, that's a Vegas thing. Anyway, be sure to go to the top of the tower at night. It's breathtaking. We got those tickets free with the time share thing too. Oh, and most of the hotels do the timeshare, so shop around esp. if there is a particular show you are wanting to see.

WANT TO WIN MONEY? PLAY AT THE STRATOSPHERE

ALL THAT I CARE ABOUT AS A GAMBLER IS TO WIN MONEY. I DON'T LIKE TO EAT WHILE I AM PLAYING THE MACHINES , NOR , DO I CARE WHAT THE ROOMS ARE LIKE. I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE ENTERTAINMENT. ALL I WANT TO DO IS BE ABLE TO WN A LITTLE MONEY..AND I HAVE FOUND AS A LOCAL THAT THE STRATOSPHERE IS JUST THE PLACE TO DO IT AT. I HAVE NOT GONE THERE ONCE WHERE I HAVE NOT WON SOME NICE LITTLE JACKPOTS. I HAVE NEVER LEFT THERE BROKE. AND I HAVE NEVER HAD TO USE AN A.T.M. IN ORDER TO STAY AND PLAY. SO FOR ME, ANYWAY, THIS MAKES ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY THE MACHINES IN LAS VEGAS.
I HAVE BEEN UP TO THE TOP AS A PERSON REALLY MUST SEE THE WONDERFUL VIEW..ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. BUT I HAVE NEVER STYED IN THE ROOMS NOR HAVE I EATEN THERE. ONE THING THAT KINDA BOTHERS ME IS THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE "SHADY" CHARACTERS JUST WALKING AROUND THE CASINO WATCHING PEOPLE PLAY.
BUT THERE IS PLENTY OF SECURITY PATROLING THE FLOORS SO I DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH. HOWEVER I AM AWARE OF THE SURRONDINGS AS I GO TO MY CAR. THE CASINO HAS ALOT OF CHOICES OF GOOD MACHINES & THE SERVERS ARE FAST ON THE FLORR W/ DRINKS..THEY ARE ALSO FRIENDLY. SO I WILL GIVE THE STRATOSPHERE AN "A" FOR WINNING MONEY WHICH IS ALL THAT I REALLY CARE ABOUT SINCE I LIVE HERE & I CAN EAT & SLEEP AT OUR HOME.
PROS: ALOT OF NICE LITTLE JACKPOTS. YOU CAN WIN ENOUGH NOT TO GO HOME BROKE
CONS: "SHADY " CHARACTERS HANGING AROUND THE CASINO

Everyone should go to the Stratosphere once. Go up to the top of the tower to view the city, go on the wild ride, go shopping in the mall area, but just do not stay there. There are much better deals in the middle of the Strip. Located at the northern end and close to downtown, it is a just "OK" place for a low price. For some reason, the inside of the hotel has a depressing feel, even though they have done major rennovations to try and save it.
The casino made me dizzy with its black and white decor. It has a busy casino, but in slow times, the staff runs up to you with all of these promotions. Be careful, because the deal is not as sweet as it appears. I guess this goes for any hotel.
PROS: mall area, viewing tower
CONS: bad location, somewhat dim with an old feel (not "old" as in ancient)

The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino is a really unique place. Its a huge tower. They have a very romantic restuarant here at the top and it spins as you eat so you get a great Las Vegas view of all the lights and buildings. (the spinning is slow). They even have rides here, like Big Shot and Insanity. They will get your heart racing with adrenaline and you will have so much fun. It does cost money to ride the rides, but they are totally unique, some rides hang off the building for a more rush and excitment.

I stayed here during New Year's Eve last year and got a room at a rate of $35 p/night. For such a cheap rate during New Year's Eve, this place was great. There is a casino and the gaming was not bad. There is also a mall with decent shopping and a food court. This hotel is like a large tower and there is a really nice restaurant and an amusement park on top of the tower. There is also an observatory ontop of the tower to get a great view of the entire sin city strip. The only bad thing is this hotel is at the end of the strip, but I didn't find it to be too far away from the action.
