I took my parents here after purchasing a Groupon (pay $20 for $40). I have to say, everything was pretty good. I don't think the prices were that bad. Staff was nice. Environment was alright. The Guacamole was really really good. And the homemade chips were tasty.

But the owner has decided not to honor their Groupons anymore. I question the integrity of anyone who would enter into an agreement with their customers and then back out of it almost imediately. I wonder how that integrity affects other areas of her business.

I don't trust the ownership of Piramide and I would never eat here again. I would never eat here because I feel double crossed, but I also feel that you can't trust what a person like that is serving you. Very shady.

my name is Geraldine and I am the owner of Piramide Restaurant .before I reply to the false accusations made against us I would like you to know something about myself. I immigrated to this country 25 years ago from Honduras with my children I was a single mother of 4 and I worked very hard 16 -17 hours a day as house keeper I was paid less than $3.00 per hour. I had to clean the house, take care of the children, cook their meals and clean up before I was allowed to leave. but I never took advantage of anyone, I never lied, nor did I ever try to hurt anyone. I thanked God for my health and my beautiful children and my proud Latino Heritage, and I thanked God for giving me the opportunity to be in this beautiful country of great people and opportunity. God blessed when I met my husband who also immigrated to this country, but from Italy when he was 4 yrs of age. with my husband my life changed we worked very hard together and still do. I always dreamed of owning my own restaurant and with my husband's support that dream came true. I still work very hard, several times a week I drive over a 100 miles just to buy fresh avocado imported from mexico so my customers can enjoy freshly prepared gucamole. Every week I go to the market to buy fresh meats, fish and poultry. we only use the finest ingredients and all our dishes are freshly prepared. I don't leave the restaurant until everything is cleaned spotless, espically the kitchen. I don't get to sleep sometimes until 3 am, but I dont mind because I
care for my customers and I want to try and deliver the best possible food and I want all my customers to know that our kitchen is always clean and they are always welcome to come and inspect for themselves.
The people who work in the back are hard working responsible people and are proud of their Latino Heritage. They are honest people like myself who work to support their families, and only want to make a better life for themselves and their children. so please be more compasionate when your refer to the people in the back.
The DOH inspected our premises after you filed the complaint and their read right through you. they understood what you were trying to do and so after the inspection they dismissed the complaint as unfounded.
You hurt me very much by make these accusations. I don't why you don't like us. I would, however, like to invite you back so you and I can sit and talk I would be pleased to buy you a Margarita and maybe we can come to know each better and hopefully maybe even become friends. This I say truthfully from the bottom of my heart.

I was at the same party with Glenn (read review below!) We were a decent sized crowd - ~9 people - who had a reservation for dinner. We got there and though the place looked nice (good decorations, nice bar set up) the service was terrible. Though we sympathized with the one waiter, it took him a while to even come over to us.
While we were rummaging through the chips put on the table, one of us noticed something strange in the chips -- it was a pill! Being in health care/nursing, I could easily tell that the pill had been slightly chewed and was moist looking. Absolutely gross!! It was a dark color with some sort of black substance on the inside. We nicely approached the waiter and showed him the chips - didn't cause a scene or anything (We could have, the place was relatively full). He just said "oh, sorry" and brought us out another order. Our guacamole came out with more chips. Then another friend at the table said "Oh --- it's there again!" ... we all thought he was kidding. This time, there were 2 pills - they were clear capsules with a green powdery substance inside. Clearly, this was done on purpose. I could understand if a critter crawls in the food or whatever, but there is no excuse for pills to be in your food twice other than someone deliberately putting them in there. We didn't know what they were or whose mouth they were in -- absolutely disgusting. We brought this to the attention of the manager, who showed no remorse. She wouldn't even look me in the eye when I spoke to her! The kicker is that they actually wanted us to pay for our drinks! The nerve. I told her that I planned on calling the Board of Health on Monday (who I am on the phone with right now) still, showing no concern. We all got up and left, obviously without paying for our drinks.
Anyone who chooses to eat at this restaurant is out of their minds. I hope this place gets shut down and whatever low lifes they have working in the kitchen get shipped back to wherever they came from.

So my wife and I moved here in March of 08 and immediately noticed Piramide right around the corner from us. But due to the lack of patrons inside, we put off trying it until just a month ago. We have now been back twice since. The food we had each time has been delicious. And we are very tough critics! Our server (seems to be only one working each time) is extremely nice but I can see where that would generate a tough review on service. I dont understand why the drink specials are only for people that sit AT the bar. Though i imagine it is so they get the bar packed and make it look like they have a bar scene??? But if that is the case, then they need to expand their wine and tequila list big time. So overall, we have really enjoyed our meals and the GUAC is delish. The house salso needs to come in a bigger dish! Give it a shot! Support your slope!

Before I would pay outrageous prices, but that was for great food and saving myself a trip to Manhattan. Now it's just dumb. The service is terrible. The only waiter who knows the menu at all is an obnoxious bartender who just won't shut up and let you enjoy your crappy food. We got takeout recently and paid through the nose for the coldest meal we've ever had and it made us ILL!

Party of 4 adults w/2 adolescents under 15 years old went to dinner on 8/31/08 arriving at 7:50pm. It's a Sunday night, and there were about 25 patrons there when we arrived. The server and manager were VERY accommodating, clearing a path to two tables put together for us (the path was for my mother-in-law who uses a rolling walker). We were all finally seated at 8:05pm. Menus were on the table. Two bowls of chips were presented with one tiny saucer of nicely spiced dipping sauce. The server waited ten minutes or so to get our drink orders and it took another ten minutes for the drinks to arrive (NOTE: water apparently is only given if asked). The orders were taken at about 8:25pm and the server was VERY accommodating with our special needs (Paella without shell fish, two orders). Water arrived shortly thereafter.

Dinner was not served until a few minutes after 9pm. Is this an average wait for service in a restaurant that is not so busy? Hmmm. Well, we were pleased with the food once it arrived. It was all cooked to perfection with the exception of the pork chop (smothered in onions, peppers, and a tomato sauce that lacked flavor). Yellow rice and black beans on the side is tasty (beans a bit dry: attributable to a late Sunday dinner, perhaps).

Dinner Recommendations:
NY Strip prepared in either fashion; Paella. From the "Little Gringos" menu page (back of menu) get the ELOTE (corn on the cob) with sweet plantains. Ask if the "platanos" can be sliced more thickly so you get a better taste of the sweetness! You can even have the corn cut from the cob for those with special needs, another VERY accommodating feature they demonstrated.

Dessert Recommendations:
Corn Cake with Ice Cream and a cup of coffee.

Not Recommended:
Mixed alcoholic drinks. They are light on alcohol. (Stick with Dos Equis)

We watch the bartender, who is doing nothing. Then the margaritas come. Without salt. Whatever. Then we finally get more water. Then I notice A DEAD FRUIT FLY in my drink. Whatever. I point it out, and the waiter takes it away without a word and quite noticeably without an apology. 10 minutes later I get another margarita, but lucky for me, this one has salt. Our orders of two tacos for $8 arrives. Granted the tacos were good, but would have been better for $4 in Sunset Park which is exactly what kind of tacos these were. But they came with a side of french fries. Doesnt everyone expect french fries with tacos? Then I notice on my new margarita that there is now a ANOTHER DEAD FLY on the outside of the glass. I point this out again, tell them I'll be finishing it the drink, and we'd like the check, since we were done eating. 20 minutes later, after the waiter has passed us several times, we get the check, minus one margarita. It was a dark and stormy Saturday. My girlfriend and I were in need of our weekly Brunch fix. You know, some eggs, but alot of Mimosa's. As we walked down 5th ave. that tragic day we stumbled upon Piramide. Our eyes caught the sign that raved " All you can drink Mimosa's!". This is usually quite pleasing to one's eye, but there was a horrible catch! The food was gross and the all you can drink, was 13 dollars extra. This wouldn't have been so bad if we were able to get hammered, but the waitress was too busy schmoozing her friends to refill our drinks. Oh yeah and there were crying babies as well. I have a feeling that this is owned by the same brilliant mind behind Brooklyn Burger Bar. Which for some reason is still open.

I've been here three times since it has opened and I've enjoyed everything that i've tried. They have a great Happy Hour special a bucket of Coronitas with two free tacos for $10. Can't go wrong with that. Definitely check this place out!

My husband and I accidentally discovered Piramide one rare weekday when we were both home during lunch time. Their lunch menu was amazing, and the prices were very cheap. They even had tableside guacamole during lunch, which was a surprising treat! We returned another day for brunch, and then for dinner, and were not disappointed either of those times. The restaurant is fairly new, so the service kinks are being worked out, but overall, this is on the path to being a regular spot.

They even had tableside guacamole during lunch, which was a surprising treat! We returned another day for brunch, and then for dinner, and were not disappointed either of those times. The rumor was true and the food was better then I had ever had at Maria?s (not to make them sound bad). I had a salad full of pineapple and jicama with a spicy orange dressing that was sooooo good. The portion was HUGE ($7)!

A very slick manager(although I expected someone who was Spanish, not a tall dark and handsome *wine talking* trendy park slope guy) came over to see how our evening was going and offered some tastes of wine to go with the starters. The prices on the wine list are so cheap in comparison to other restaurants I dine at (mostly NYC) with most offered by the glass. After tasting a few and talking about salad and wine being a hard match we found a winner (Verdejo from Spain $7gl).
Dinner- Steak, shrimp, Mexican cheese and fresh vegetables all came out sizzling in a Mojecate sp?; you know the lava mortar they make guacamole in. It was served with rice, beans and tortillas. It was to die for. I motioned for the manager and he arrived with three tastes of wine not even knowing I was going to ask about what to drink and quickly had me hooked on a Grenache (7.50gl). The meat was perfect and the jumbo shrimp spicy and fresh. Great beans not refried and fresh fluffy yellow rice made the meal.

Dessert needs to wait for another time, I was full and buzzing.

Piramide Resturaunt is delicious!! Their foods are very tasteful and unique. I feel like a piece of art is being brought to me everytime I order. The plate sizes are extremely filling and you definantly get tour moneys worth. My favorite plates are:
the New York Strip it does not sound Mexican but believe me the way it is seasoned will have your mouth water!
Famous Carne Asada is just perfect. so tender and traditional you will love it.
The soups are fantastic! My favorite is the tortilla soup which is very smooth and tasteful not so spicy but MMMmmMMM!!
Everything I have tried from Piramide Is awesome I definantly recommend going there.

ps you have to have the tableside guac made to perfection!!! Any way YOU want. Tell me that is not service!

IT'S DIFFICULT TO FIND A RESTAURANT OPEN IN THE AFTERNOON IN PARK SLOPE. I WAS VERY PLEASED TO STUMBLE UPON PIRAMIDE AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO SIT DOWN AND ENJOY A MEAL ON MY LUNCH BREAK. THE SERVER I HAD WAS FUNNY AND ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH HIS JOB AND CHAT.THE PRICES WERE RESONIBLE FOR LUNCH AND EVERYTHING I HAD SEEMED VERY FRESH. I WAS CONVINCED TO COME BACK FOR DINNER AND WAS AGAIN VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND IMMPRESSED WITH THE WINE LIST THEY HAD FOR BEING A SMALLER PLACE. ANYWAY, WOULD GO BACK ANYTIME IM IN BROOKLYN.

Love the stacked enchiladas, the salmon and mashed plantains, the muffins at brunch and everything else I've eaten at this place. There's a kink or two to be worked out as far as the service is concerned, but everyone is friendly, helpful and genuinely excited about the place. Plus there's a wonderful mariachi band on Tuesday nights. What's not to love?

Love the stacked enchiladas, the salmon and mashed plantains, the muffins at brunch and everything else I've eaten at this place. There's a kink or two to be worked out as far as the service is concerned, but everyone is friendly, helpful and genuinely excited about the place. Plus there's a wonderful mariachi band on Tuesday nights. What's not to love?

Food: outstanding. i had table side made to order guacamole that was so good. i have been back to sit at the bar just for this. i started with a white bean soup which was so good i almost ordered a second bowl, my date had beef flautas which i had a few bites of, they were excellent. for dinner i had a crispy chicken dish which was boneless chicken cooked perfect with a crispy skin and a moist tender meat, sopa seca to die for and spinach which rounded it out perfect. my date went more traditional with enchiladas en mole. BEST MOLE I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! food presentation was excellent, timing was perfect and everything was above what i had expected.
Bar: beer and wine only, they told me the liquor license is still pending. the wine list is one of the best i have seen in park slope. 14 or 15 wines by the glass with prices that seemed way below the crazy markups most places charge us. great beer selection as well. ranging from Mexican to local micro brews.
i highly recommend this place to all. saw a sign on the way out that said mariachis every Thursday night. I will be back just for that.

But, I tried it today for the first time and I won't be back. The huevos rancheros tasted fine and came with coffee, juice (Tropicana), serve-yourself muffins and fruit for $12, so that wasn't the problem. The problem was that the waiter and other staff members were really slow and not very attentive. For example, water wasn't filled, plates weren't removed, and printing out the check and running my card took over 20 minutes. The place just seemed a little disorganized and the wait staff seemed either zoned out or overwhelmed. The food is not unique or good enough to make me want to go regardless of the service. Jack's service was always a little slow too, but the prices, the amount of food you got, and the laidback atmosphere outweighed it.
