this place is awful and should be sued for all their damn money. i walk in and the first thing i see is this huge dog in a cage probably ment for a big bunny. he couldn't even sit up. all the dogs are sick and shaking and most of the dogs have their damn poop incrusted on their fur. it is gross i bought a red belly pirahna and it died in 3 hours. i wouldnt buy a dog here if you paid me a million bucks. the dogs are kept horrible and the fishes water is so dirty you cant even tell what is in side of the tank. they charge WAY to much for everything. i called aspca and the last time i went they only had small dogs but they still had no food and they had their poop all over them. I BEG OF YOU NOT TO BUY HERE. YOURE DOG WILL NOT BE HEALTHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have bought all three of my dogs from The Pet Company and I had no issue... The first puppy had a slight cough when I got him but I got all my money back...it took awhile.. but at least I got it. I would recommend them to anyone who wanted to buy a puppy. If you take the time to talk to the managers and associates, you can see how much they truly care about the animals. So before you hate them, talk to them.

This past saturday i was at the Pet Company in GSP. they gave my license back to the wrong person, gave me someone elses license and then acted like it was my problem. Also they gave my license to someone else knowing that it was not me. These ppl now know my full name, address, birthdate, and exactly what i look like!! i feel very unsafe and when i spoke to the store manager she said "accidents happen" this was pure negligence at ones job. at the end of the day it was up to me and the other girl to figure out how to meet up so we could exchange the correct licenses. i would not reccomend this store to anyone looking to add puppy to their family, they might give out your info like they did to me and all the puppies are always very dirty and sick.

I was APPALLED to find a pet store in Garden State Plaza selling puppies from cages. The poor things were in there with NO water. The staff were harassed and I overheard one of them saying "These damn puppies are driving me nuts." Well, sweetie, go get another job.

How can such a place be legal? Aren't there animal rights groups in NJ that look after this sort of thing? If I lived anywhere near there (I was visiting) I would campaign to get the place closed down.

Buying from a store like this only encourages the proliferation of puppy mills, which mistreat their animals horribly. If you are looking for a dog please consider adopting from a rescue. Many of them have puppies, and pedigreed dogs if you have your heart set on one.

For Christmas this year, my boyfriend's mother wanted to get us a puppy. While shopping at the Paramus Park Mall she saw an adorable boxer puppy at The Pet Company. When I went with her to see the puppy and I fell in love at once. Needless to say by that evening she was a part of the family. Two nights after she was home she started coughing up a white mucus. I took her to our vet the next day. Guess what, she had contracted kenal cough! While I understand this is very common, the day manager at the Pet Company was extremely rude when we brought the unfit for sale certificate to the store. She refused to pay the bill. While it was a contract issue, she showed no concern that any of the other puppies could be sick. She became very flustered and unprofessional in dealing with this problem. After more research into this company and to other pet stores, I agree with Jesse K. NEVER buy a pet from a pet store. These puppy mills should be shut down for good and I will make it a point to let anyone who asks about our experience know that The Pet Company in Paramus Park Mall only seems to care about making a $ NOT taking care of their animals.

Please listen to Jess K -- the puppies you see and purchase at pet stores are born to mothers who live in filth & forced to go to the bathroom in the same place where they sleep and eat. No human interaction, they never see the light of day, and are pushed to the limits of breeding. You don't see this because the litters are sold very young to the pet stores. But by buying from pet stores, you're keeping these horrible places in business. Please, please, please go to a shelter next time. It makes me want to cry seeing these dogs who are bred and inbred and treated so awfully...http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/puppy_mills/

Its been several years since I've visited the menlo park mall and I'm disgusted by what Ive seen and how I was treated especially after buying 3 dachshunds from this place. My 19 year old daughter asked to see a puppy while I was calling my husband and the lady said " only if your interested in buying it, we don't just take them out to play".. WHAT? Did she really just say that?
After I walked up and asked and told her I've bought 3 from here, her attitude completely changed.. Pretty sad. Just goes to show it's all about the money! Meanwhile the managers stuffing her face and puppies in a playpen are running in pee..
Never again.. We ended getting my daughter a dachshund from a rescue, they have beautiful puppies too and the money you pay goes toward a good cause not the pockets of the negligent workers..

I was in Danbury Mall last night 12/07/2010 and there was a boxer terrier and some other small dog ,anyway the other small was sinking his teeth into the boxer and I told the stupid clerk that the dog was hurting the boxer because he was SCREAMING and trying to get away from the other dog. mr. clerk tried to advise me that puppy teeth do not hurt and the other dog was ok (without even looking at him) I told him I was going to call headquaters and he said I don't care my name is Chris. Let me tell you something, these people do not deserve to be around animals, I think he should be fired for cruelty to animals and put in a cage with puppies with his hands tied around his back, feet tied and let the puppies bite the crap out of him

I was at the Paramus Park Mall yesterday and we visited the Pet Company to look at all the adorable puppies. This place is horrible, all the dog cages had dog poop in every cage. These poor dogs were sitting and laying in it, one dog was actually eating it. This store should be shut down......

You people are all stupid naive uneducated idiots. You are all buying puppy mill dogs. There is something wrong with anybody who buys a dog as an "impulse buy". You are all contributing to the overpopulation and inbreeding of dogs. You are helping the shelters to overflow, and dogs being put to sleep. Do some research. If you could only see where your dog came from and know that you are helping to keep a literal doggy hell (puppy mill) in business you may have thought twice. No reputable breeder would sell their dogs to a pet store not knowing its fate. Maybe your dog came out ok, but the next one probably has some social or health problems. Ever notice them pacing the cages on their wire flooring, literally going insane? why pay all that money and fund a doggy hell when you can adopt. People who buy from pet stores disgust me.

We recently bought a cute Puggle at the Pet Company. We have gone in several times and all the puppies look happy and the cages are never filthy. The puppies are always checked out by a local Vet and are always receiving proper care behind the scenes. When we took him to our Vet last week we were told he is in excellent health. We are very happy with our puppy. The Pet Company employees are friendly and answer any and every question you may have. I do agree that the price was steep but what can you do when the whole family falls in love? The company has an insurance policy that is top rate. They look out for the customer and the puppy. A very rare element in this day and age. Our purchase was an impulse buy....and we must say the best impulse buy ever.

My family and I visited the pet company for the first time while shopping for Christmas gifts in the mall. We saw the cutest little puppy and immediately fell in love. The staff were so pleasant and answered all our questions. When we finally got to interact with him, the puppy was calm and friendly not to mention playful. When we decided to by him I was over the moon. I'll admit I thought the price was outrageous, but then again how can you put a price on love. The first time we brought him to the vet he received a clean bill of health. He is very friendly and loves people and other dogs. To be honest I don't understand all the negative reviews. To be honest next time I'll probably adopt a dog but if you really want a good shop to buy puppies I highly recommend the pet company.

I recently purchased a Yorkshier Terrier at this mall - 2 1/2 months old. She is vibrant, energetic, did not smell of anything other than puppy and now at 4 months old - she is one of the most obedient, healthy dogs. My veternarian was very impressed with her balance and muscle tone at a recent visit and gave her a 100% bill of health. I have visited this store on numerous occasions before deciding to purchase a dog myself and never found it to be in an unfit condition. Once or twice I went there during their nap time and someone was complaining all they were doing was sleeping - puppies nap, just like babies! I do feel the price was too high but the dogs were all clean and fit. That's my two cents. Michelle, RP, NJ
