I have been going to Moe Himes/ Indy Tire for years. Always got the best and most honest service. The mechanics were very knowledgeable. When Indy Tire took over the quality dropped as far as mechanic knowledge was concerned. However, they were honest enough to admit when a problem was beyond their expertise and recommended a different company for the repair. So even though they are more limited in what they can do well, they have maintained what I considered important in a repair shop and that is integrity. They have carried that on through their transitions and I still go there for most of my auto repairs and recommend them to my friends.

One day I go in and get a tire mount/balanced (wheel and tire loose off vehicle) for $15. One week later I go in to get same thing done - the price is $20. I show receipt and they don't care - it's 20 or take a hike. I go to Tire Barn (Castleton) and get it done for $10.

I've been a Moe Himes/Fishers Firestone/Indy Tire customer for several years, with previous and current ownership. I wouldn't go back there if I couldn't say that they treat me fairly. On the rare occasion I've had concerns about repairs, I explained my concerns rationally and they listened and did what they could to address them satisfactorily. The people in the front office are always courteous. When a tow didn't happen gracefully they waived the fee. When the tranny cooling lines leaked after they serviced the transmission, they listened to my concerns about it and replaced the lines at cost. It's important to remember that when dealing with an auto shop that they are often considered the cause of all faults with a vehicle, when in fact it's a case of one repair can expose another problem. It's also important to remember that they are indeed looking to make a buck, so yeah it will cost a bit (if you doubt the cost, call a dealership for a quote. I'd take FF over palmer dodge any day). I've been very angry over repair bills like everyone else but remember, all vehicles have issues, and the front office guys didn't cause your radiator to leak or your battery to die. I just got back from FF with what I thought was an electrical problem but it turned out the battery a chrylser dealership sold me 3 years ago was already bad. They could have soaked me for much more than a tow and battery but they didn't. I don't know cars so I wouldn't have known the difference. The next time my older (paid for!) pickup truck has an issue, FF will be who I contact.

My name is Ken Dodson. My wife Julie and I recently purchased Moe Himes Firestone from the Himes family. We were customers of this business for 12 years prior to deciding to buy the company.

While no business is perfect, and unfortunately we have learned of previous customers who have been dissatisfied, we are committed to the highest levels of quality and service. We now offer a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty on all repairs. We are an ASA certified repair center and have ASE certified technicians. We are members of the BBB and have been complaint free for the last 12 months. We have new shop management and an absolute commitment to customer satisfaction. We still have many areas I want to see improvement in, however, we are committed to becoming the most trusted service center in the area.

We are a full service store and have the ability to handle all your automotive needs. We hope you will consider this information when considering you automotive service needs.

Regards,
Ken and Julie Dodson

PROS: Commitment to customer satisfaction, quality work, innovative new services
CONS: Need to complete the on line services functions.

We had our truck at Moe Himes and it always seemed anytime we stepped in the shop it was 1000 or more. After about 4 trips of at least that or more it became a joke.

However, we stopped laughing when we had a problem with our radiator. Jiffy lube had put the wrong coolant in the radiator and gummed it all up so it had to be replaced. Of course, Jiffy Lube took no responsibility and we paid Firestone over 1000 to fix the problem.

Less than six months later the truck overheated almost 100 miles from home. We took it to another Firestone that was located right where it broke down. They again said it was the radiator. They also said whoever blew the lines out the last time didnt do a very good job. They asked us who did it and we said Moe Himes Firestone. We called Moe Himes and took the vehicle back in. They were going to charge us for the repairs again?! We said NO WAY. After wasting several days of time and lots of energy the best they would do was to pay for half. We said NO and will NEVER return.

Beware as the 1000 seems to be the magic number. We have since spoken to other people who have had similar experiences. We have found a great mechanic at Mufflers and More and would recommend him highly. Oh yeah, he fixed the lines on the truck , didn't have to replace the radiator again as Firestone told us we had to and there is a recommendation for Mufflers and More on this site from us!

PROS: None
CONS: No backing on previous repairs
