Love this place. I have yet to be disappointed. It's a great place to chillout and dine with good company. Ambiance is great.
My usual order consist of the following
Thai Ice Tea
Pad Thai
Thai Boat Noodle is amazing. The meat is so flavorful and tender.
Yellow Curry is prepared just right.
For dessert, the sweet rice with mango is awesome!!!

Just visited today 2-23-09, same, yummy Thai food. Had BBQ chicken again and Pad Thai chicken. So good. Same dilicious calamari. I think this must be the best Thai place in Portland. No Thai restaurant has given me sush a delicious-authentic, healty, home-style Thai meals-ever. When I eat here, I feel like I'm their children-and their entire kitchen-my parents. They add the right amouht of spices and flavor.
Their BBQ chicken is so tender, so scrumptous, that makes me droll writing this. You literally taste every bit of the chicken-wing, breast and its made to perfection.
This place has it all-great customer service, authentic thai family owned, authentic thai food, good prices(especially when compared to Typhoon) and now a even more pleasant eating environment.

I personally loved this place. I came here last weekend with my family and the staff was nice, decor was REALLY nice. Food was dilicious...hands down best pad thai I've ever had. I think I'm going to take my girlfriend there this valentine day.

I really like this place.
And I normally hate Thai food, But this place is different than what I've tried in the city before. The food did not leave that aftertaste that I don't like. The food had a certain home cook feeling to it.
My boyfriend loves Thai food and he said that it was the best Thai food he's tried. Anyway, instead of ordering Chinese take out, I'll be ordering IYARA THAI go forward.
Oh, and the prices are very reasonable.

Clean modern, and very yummy. Everything was delicious. I ordered a curry that wasn't overdone with coconut milk. My friend's Bangkok Style Catfish was incredibly delicious. Fried bananas for dessert were as light as sush a desert can be. Don't miss the delicious mint soda. Prices are totally cheap but the food is not.
All in all, some of the best Thai I've had in PDX. The atmosphere is also very cool, nice and dim lighting without feeling like I'm in the Dungeon Dimension.

Best Thai Restaurant in Northwest Portland for sure. I come here almost every week. The Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao(Drunken chef' Noodles), Thai Boat Noodle are my favorites. The Panang curry is to die for, its red curry saurce is spicy and rich. The Tom Yum soup is awesom and full of lemongrass flavor. Everything was seasoned perfectly. I was just in Thailand and this place has by far the authentic of all places I,ve tried int the city. Also portions are generous,as we had more than enough food for two people.
There are so many other things that peopoe were eating around me that were very appealing. Iam going to be back for sure. Great food, great prices, great services, generous portions.

My husband and I are no Thai food connoisseurs but this place is quite delicious! The service is great, everyone's super friendly. We often call ahead to get take-out and our order is completed quickly with fresh pad-thai. I especially like the shrimp pad-thai. The fisherman's soup is also delicious. There is some inconsistencies regarding the spiciness that we request for (sometimes "medium" is too mild and sometimes too spicy). I also love their hot tea (the orange one). Their decor is also quite pleasant. Check this place out!

This is one of my favorite Thai places in Portland. The food is very fresh and the atmosphere is modern and trendy. The good is very light and good and I would recommend their curry or beef rolls. The noodle salad was also scrumptious.

Why have I not heard about Iyara Thai before? Have Willamette Week & the Mercury written it up yet because if they haven't, somebody needs to send their representative over there pronto!

I went to Iyara Thai the other night & was blown away! I had the Yum Neau (beef salad) & it was the freshest and tastiest Thai food I have had in Portland (& I live down the street from about 5 different Thai places so I've shopped around!) I also had a glass of their mint soda which is kind of like a mojito with fresh mint but without alcohol- a really refreshing alternative to a cocktail, though they offer plenty of delicious sounding cocktails if you want one.

This place has a very fresh, light, modern feel to it; the owners and wait staff are extremely friendly & take care of you & if you are concerned about not being able to find a place to park because it is on Burnside, don't worry! They have free parking at the Morrison Apartments (just bring your ticket stub & they will validate it).

The exterior of Iyara Thai is not especially impressive, but do not let that prevent you from trying it out. Step inside & you will find that the interior is lovely. I might suggest a few candles on the tables for added warmth to the interior & maybe some different music, but otherwise, I give it high marks.

I will definitely be back. And again. And again. And again...

Pros: Excellent Food. Fantastic Service. Free Parking. Lovely Design.

Cons: I think some minor touches could make a difference i.e. some candles on the tables, new music & more interesting exterior to draw people in (maybe some bamboo on either side of the doors?)

I love this place! It is just steps form PGE park and MAX-very convenient. Very nice atmosphere and the services was excellent. We started out with cocktails and I had a chili martini (can't remember the name). It was very unusual and I was aprehensive but glad I tried it. Watch out it is spicy!

We had fresh rolls for starters, those are a must! It was a tough choice for an entree there were so many selections to choose from. I ended up ordering the drunken noodles with beef-AWESOME! Everything at Iyara was so fresh and flavorful I will be going back to this place again and again.

Let me preface this review by saying that if I had to choose one and only food to eat the rest of my life, it would most definitely be Thai curry. I have searched high and low for a Portland Thai restaurant I can love as much as Typhoon. And I have found it.

Try the red curry with medium spice for a flavor so deep and complex no two bites will seem the same. The yellow will lift your spirits on a dreary day, and the green will make you feel refreshed and alive. I cannot say enough about the spice level at this restaurant - hot enough to wake you up and warm your skin, but not so hot it hurts (I usually order "medium" spice.)

The fresh rolls are crisp, cool, and refreshing - divine. Try it! You will not be disappointed! You can even have it delivered from Delivered Dish!

I've now been to Iyara Thai several times since they have opened and the food get better every time. I am a huge fan of the fried rice dishes and the drunken noodles. Also, you have a choice of brown rice when ordering curries and stir-fries, which is nice for healthy eating. The atmosphere in Iyara is very sleek and cool. I love Thai food and I am happy to find a local restaurant that will keep me coming back!

The place has a great and cheap happy hour (large portions, cheap, 3 dollar beeers). The dinners are quite good as well. I've had the Bhuda's Feast, Red Curry, and the hot and sour soup, and another one that I don't remember the name of. They validate parking, which makes it easier to get to!

I just went here on Sunday night with my boyfriend and I was totally impressed. The decor is really nice, and there was a pink rose on every table. The food was absolutely amazing although I can't remember the names; we had some sort of crab appetizer, and for dinner I had the yellow curry and he had something with peanut sauce. Then for dessert we had the fried bananas and coconut ice cream mentioned in another review. I also had their mint soda. All of it was totally delicious! I wanted to try everything the servers brought out for other tables since it looked so good. I got my curry as medium, and it was really spicy, so if you're a pansy like me definitely get it mild. :) But my water wasn't ever empty even though I drank a ton of it, the staff was really nice, responsive and did a good job. I definitely want to come here again! The parking is a little hard, but it is totally worth it, especially since the prices are really good!

I've been studying in Corvallis for several years. I heard this Thai restaurant from my friend in Portland. Basically, I love to try every Thai restaurant in nearby cities. So I drove to Portland to try this restaurant as well.
I would say I found the exact "Thai" authentic food here. We tried Pad-Thai cause I personally found that this menu is the best indicator for good Thai restaurant, and it proved that! It is tasty, and importantly, the noodle texture is really nice. Other dishes we tried were garlic black pepper with chicken and Panang Salmon. They also were great. I recommend you try them especially Pad-thai, and you will love it.

I live nearby and frequent all the Thai restaurants in the area. My grilfriend and I went in last Thursday for our lunch. I ordered the duck curries and Pad Thai to share. Both dishes are excellent. i love the ambience the owner and the staff to make your dining experience a great one. We went back again for dinner yesterday. The atmosphere was romantic and the food was again great. ( We order Meing Kum for appertizer then we had the Tom Kahh, the coconu soup then for our entree we had the bangkok style catfish.) My girlfriend and i think that this is the best thai food in Portland and we should know we have tried all the available thai restaurants, the food is spicy enough without hurting anyone but if pain is your thing then mention to your waiter that you like things hot and the kitchen will do the rest .just remember to order the fried banana with homemade coconut icecream to add to your experience.
