Austin Bargain Movers is without a doubt the worst moving company I have ever used in the city of Austin. If you want a detailed description of everything that went wrong with our move, you can read it at http://elli143.wordpress.com/2008/05/18/moving-disaster-austin-bargain-movers/
Here are some of the highlights of our move:
- Movers arrived late and were given the wrong address from their boss
- Movers were given the wrong instructions about our move and thought they were loading the truck but not unloading it. We had to clarify with them after they arrived (even though I had clarified this with their boss earlier that morning).
- Their website advertises that they will provide dollies, pads and tools for local moves. Movers arrived with a single dolly, no pads, no straps, and a limited set of tools. We had to unpack boxes to find blankets and go to the store to buy them straps.
- Movers took 4 hours to load a one bedroom / one bathroom apartment. The "average" load time of a one bedroom apartment is 2 hours (as admitted by the manager)
- Movers took excessive breaks and moved extremely slowly. They would sit idle until they saw me staring at them, and then they would start working again.
- They could not fit all of our stuff in the truck. I had a 24' truck, which is designed to hold 4 bedrooms. We loaded a 1/1 apartment and a duplex with a couch, table, dresser, and a few boxes (half the size of the 1/1).
- Movers put our furniture in the wet lawn before bringing it inside. No furniture was assembled. Boxes were not placed in the designated rooms as we had requested. TOTAL MOVE TIME: 10 hours
- All desks and tables have significant scratches and damage.
The manager has been unapologetic and rude when we have tried to discuss the poor quality of service. At this point we are considering taking them to court for the damages done to our property. I am filing an official complaint with the BBB and TxDot. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!!!
