4 Stars: What a GREAT place!!! (by rg c.)

I just went to an event at excuses. I was really impressed with the space. I liked the maple floor and DJ Booth. I was told it use to be club ONE. It was beautiful inside with the paintings and renovations that have created a GREAT place to have events.

I was impressed with the event food. Caprese' Kabobs, meatballs with a tangy raspberry bbq sauce, cheese trays that looked to good to eat, and a nice crudite' tray.

The waitstaff for this event were nice and service oriented. Kinda hard, i thought, with about 400 people in the place.

The bar was BUSY!!! I will say that I was impressed with the bartenders speed....and my mixed drink was smooooth...

I spoke with the owner and management about having one of my future events at this great venue, and was told to book early. I will try and stop by for lunch one day and try their panini sandwiches...

5 Stars: Way...extreme..... (by Katie S.)

I found it interesting that a former dance club could be changed into a restaurant...well, "cafe'", with such an obvious amount of love! My friend, Leroy Roper, has moved his gallery into the old club one space, know known as Excuses Extreme cafe. The owners here really seem to be tied to the history that still is Deep Ellum. In making the change into a day and night business and incorporating the gallery into the mix, it is a really great place to hang out!!! I had a wonderful sandwich, they call the "Chrisanni" really good!!!! They have a rather small menue, but what I sampled was great! I am one who will be back soon. They serve home made pot roast every Friday, according to Chris, where else can you find that???? Who would ever have thought at old one??? great job!!! good luck!!!!
