Dr. Pearl's terrible ethics are matched only by his incomparable arrogance.
We took our pet to All Pets five days ago to get a second opinion on a mange diagnosis. Being brand new dog owners, we just wanted to be 100% sure.
Dr. Pearl spent a lot of time repeating himself, and offered little to no helpful information. Furthermore, instead of recommending a treatment plan, he immediately pressured us to agree to a $200 biopsy, just to determine what type of mange our puppy had. (We have since found out from several other vets that this was wholly unnecessary and extravagant.)
Lastly, he recommended a 3-week daily antibiotic for our puppy to help clear up his skin. We paid $40 for these pills, only to get home and realize we only had 14 pills in the bottle. We called All Pets and were told by Dr. Pearl that he would only fill the remaining week's worth of pills if we came back in and paid another office visit fee. Trying to take the peaceful approach, I personally visited the office and asked that they simply give me the remaining pills. The secretary fetched Dr. Pearl (pun intended), who proceeded to tell me how I was wrong--he only gave us 2 weeks worth of pills and we only paid for 2 weeks worth, despite the bottle label stating it had 3 weeks of pills in it, and our receipt not mentioning quantity of any kind. He then tried to blame my "misunderstanding" on the fact that my children were in the exam room with us a few days before, and I was "obviously distracted", but that he was "100% correct" and I was "trying to get something for nothing."
At that point, I went from irritated to outright angry. This crackpot doctor was not only trying to charge us $62 for a 3-week antibiotic, but was blaming me and my kids for the fact that he and his staff screwed up. There was no empathy, no apology, no loyalty to us as a patient client--just him being adamant that he was right and we were wrong. It was a disgusting thing to witness.
We will NOT be going back to Dr. Pearl. Furthermore, we will let all our friends and relatives know about his incompetence and inability to deal professionally and ethically with his clients. Apparently Dr. Pearl has been spending too much time with animals and not enough time with people to recognize that you don't get ahead in business by blatantly insulting your clients after screwing them over.
