After having had several surgeries within a very short time to treat a nasty cancer (aren't they all, though), my body was suffering in all kinds of ways -- one of which was ophthalmic: I had sustained two corneal abrasions -- one in each eye -- during two of the surgeries. When I was discharged from the hospital, I was a wreck -- scared, weak, thin and dehydated, and with a non-stop screaming pain in my eye. I needed help, but I was too weak to leave my home to seek treatment.
I contacted CEA and described my symptoms and my dilemma.
A normal ophthalmologist probably would have told me to hang in there and come see him when I felt up to it. But Dr. Coad is not a normal ophthalmologist (CEA is not your run-of-the-mill medical practice). Dr. Coad is not only an outstanding physician, but an extraordinarily kind and generous man who, without batting an eyelash, offered to make a house call -- in the freezing cold night of a New York City winter, to a patient whom he hardly knew. He took care of me, he was kind and decent to me, he made me feel better... when he could have been home and warm. Go to him. You'll not find better.
Pros: Friendly, efficient staff; flexible office hours; high competent physicians
